Don't forget Lin's first big hit was the excellent all-Asian-American Better Luck Tomorrow (and his Fast and Furious movies are the most racially-diverse). Granted Star Trek Beyond was unmitigated garbage, but JJ Abrams didn't leave him a lot to work with.
Also don't forget that Lin is a director of Asian descent who's made akin to 6 billion dollars, and done so with movies that are actually good. He's brilliant, exactly who you want doing this. All in. Only question is which sort of naming convention to go with--the "Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart Against the Winds of Death" school, or the very different but no less awesome "Shogun Assassin: Slashing Blades of Carnage" school?
Ugh... Fast and furious films, as well as Star Trek Beyond. I'm already writing this off as an abysmal failure.

I have a feeling it will be cast mostly by white people...

Gravey, I'm never sure, on a scale of 1-10, just how serious you are when you post. – Minarchist

Not from Lin.
I'm a fan of Lin although I would rather see him tackle something else.
