It's been a day, so I'm going to remake my comment from yesterday.

Dead Space only came out in 2008!

I hear you. But there are likely ~28 year old “kids” and younger who have never played it.

Yeah, true. But textures aside, it could've been made yesterday - aside from the notion that a staright up horror game could be a blockbuster, there is very little that feels out of date about Dead Space.

Yup yup. By 2008 game design had been refined enough that 10 years doesn't feel "dated" in the same way it felt back then. A remake of a game from '08 is just... strange.

Again, the only reason I can imagine they'd do it like this is to reset the lore and start over without the giant nonsense that made up Dead Space 3's narrative.

Dev interview about the remake

Apparently they are trying for the zero-cut approach of Dead Space 2

Top 10 Amazing AA Games You Need To Play Part 2

I'm replaying Dead Space 1 & 2 right now after many many years. Still holds up

It looks like someone is basically turning the episode Suits of Love, Death, + Robots into a game. I have wanted this to happen since the first time I saw that episode.

I thought that was called Starcraft 2?

Black Myth looks stunning, watched up until the serpent fight, I'm not sure the combat will be Sekiro good but it looks tactical without being brutally punishing. The environments are extremely detailed, the snow deformation was like God Of War but in a bigger setting. This is one of those games I hope reaches its potential when it's released in a couple of years.

King’s Bounty II Nintendo Switch Review!

This looks like it could be cool. Its from Firaxis so it seems like Xcom 2 meets Marvel Anti-heroes?

It has cinematics .... other than that nothing is really given away by the trailer. Could be an X-com type game (which I think they have hinted at) but Fraxis also has made Civilization, Pirates, Starships and Haunted Hollow so who knows

From this Polygon interview:

Jake Solomon wrote:

There are zero mechanics shared between XCOM and the Midnight Suns.

In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, players will take on the role of The Hunter, an all-new character designed in partnership with Marvel Comics. The Hunter is there to stand in for the player, and will be highly customizable in both appearance and combat ability. Solomon said that there are over 40 different superpowers available to the player across a wide spectrum — from light (mirroring the most traditional of the superheroes in the game, like Iron Man and Captain America) to dark (mirroring more occult anti-heroes such as Ghost Rider and Blade).

Players will embark on turn-based missions with three other superheroes. They and their compatriots’ skills will level up and improve over time. How those skills are advanced is perhaps the biggest departure from the XCOM franchise. In between missions, players will have free rein to explore The Abbey, an all-new headquarters area designed in partnership with Marvel Comics, and its grounds. Solomon said players will explore it in third person, using their time to develop relationships with the other superheroes.

Focusing fire in order to take down a single powerful enemy was key to conquering the puzzle-like missions in XCOM and XCOM 2. This time around, players will be taking down multiple enemies at a time with powerful attacks that have a much larger impact and range than traditional plasma or laser weaponry. Solomon said players will also be interacting more with the environment, leaping off cars, pulling down light poles, and kicking objects all the way across the map.

I will wait to see gameplay before I decide. Buying Marvel's The Avengers put me off getting hyped about something because of the license.

Slow-walking matching leather clad characters with Evanessence-style cover song and splodey background!

Was it just me, or was that trailer cringe-tastically bad?

I just don't understand the cut-scene-only trailers for video games.

I was watching Gamescom live, and that was the worst trailer I have seen since... well, since the Saints Row trailer a couple of minutes earlier. Both looked like they had been produced by a pack of 13-year-old boys, hyped up on Mountain Dew and whooping and high-fiving as they shoehorned-in every "awesome" and "badass" trope they could think of. Awful.

There are definitely some interesting bits but the CCG says cash grab $$$
Also gotta love a gameplay trailer that's 80% not gameplay:

Yeah, it is obnoxious when so much of the gameplay trailer is filled with cutscenes, but that's sadly pretty typical across the industry these days. This gameplay overview gives a much better look at the actual mechanics of the game:

I think it's looking pretty damn cool. The non-combat bits look a bit like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, or if you aren't familiar with that, a more detailed version of developing relationships aboard the Normandy in Mass Effect.

As far as the cash grab concern, they've confirmed that the only micro transactions will be for cosmetic skins, which is no different than XCOM. They aren't selling cards or card packs for money.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands trailer just dropped!!!
Yes please

Was that Babymetal??

Now that is a great trailer! Went from meh to a buy after watching!
