Long series You have played every game in

What is a series that has five or more games in it, that you have played every game in that series?

Well if we are talking mainline games the only one I can think of is Super Mario Brothers and Zelda. I haven't played some of the portable spinoffs of those though.

I think having beaten 11 of the 13 single player main Final Fantasy games should count.

Hmm. I think I've beaten all of the main numbered games starting with 6. Dabbled in 4. You definitely got me there. I don't expect I will ever bother with 1, 2, and 5 at all. Too much on the pile.

Mario Bros platformers. The only one I haven't played all the way through is Super Mario Sunshine.

I've played most numbered Final Fantasy games. The ones I've completed or mostly completed are I, IV, VI, VII, IX, X, XII, and XIII. I've put quite a few hours into XIV but as an MMO that doesn't mean much. Honestly I've played more of these games than I care to admit. I constantly find myself underwhelmed with a lot of the titles.

I've played the hell out of all the SimCity games. I believe there are five official versions.

Umm, geez, a bunch of Madden over the years. Haven't played it in five years or so.

Played any number of Sonic games, but the last one I put any real time into was a DS version.

Civilization for sure (even though I didn't get VI yet), but Football Manager holds the record. Started playing back when it was Championship Manager in the early 90's. I may have missed one year, or at the most two, ever since. I've also played the majority of Total War games.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Interesting question. The only really long series I can think of that I've played every single game... probably the Gold Box series of AD&D games back in the day.

Wing Commander as well I guess, if you count Privateer and Prophecy; that makes it over 5 games.

Working on Assassins Creed, but yeah, once they resume their yearly release schedule, that's a pipe dream.

Let's see. I have beaten every Nintendo and Capcom made Zelda game, as well as every Donkey Kong Country game.

I've played at lease one mainline Pokemon game from each generational set since the beginning, with the exception of the Ruby/Sapphire remakes, which didn't interest me. Not currently planning on grabbing Ultra Sun/Moon, either.

And I've played every Ace Attorney game that has come to the states, with the exception of the most recent one (which I'll probably get the next time it goes on sale).

I've played all the AssCreed games up through Unity so far. By my count, that's nine(!) so far.

Yikes!

I've also played all 9 King's Quest games.

Is there a limit to what "Long" constitutes, because the only one I can think of is Mass Effect and the Batman Arkham series, both at four games.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise, for all its ups and downs. I played KH1, Chain of Memories on GBA, KH2, 358/2 Days on DS, Re:Coded on DS, Birth by Sleep on PSP, Re:Chain of Memories on PS2, Dream Drop Distance on 3DS, [chi] Unchained on mobile, BbS: A Fragmentary Passage on PS4, and every Final Mix re-release on PS3 and PS4.

I am a consumer whore when it comes to this gorram series.

I don't think I've got any. I've got a bunch of series in which I've missing a single game, but none in which I've played all of them.

I never played Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I've played a bunch of Out Of The Park Baseball, but started with v5.
Never played SimCity 3000.
Never played King's Quest 8.
Never played Civ I (though I'd buy it instantly if it ever ended up on gog)
Never played the original Europa Universalis.
Didn't buy GTA V.

Wait! I've played at least a bit of all the mainline Elder Scrolls games, though I've never touched Battlespire or Redguard. I also think I spent more time trying to get Arena and Daggerfall to run correctly than I did actually playing them.

Honestly, I think it's just Mass Effect.

I can't think of a series that I've played more than three games in. This thread is amazing.

Ratchet and Clank.

Elder Scrolls (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and the lesser seen Battlespire and Redguard)

If games+expansions count (like MMOs), then WoW

Civilization, though I have barely touched six.

A Tale in the Desert. Each 'telling' is different enough to count as a separate game, and l have played in all 7.

I'm surprised that is all I can come up with.

I'm pretty confident I've played all the Mario Kart games and 2D Mario platformers released to date so far. Still haven't beaten The Lost Levels though...

I've gotten pretty close on a handful of other series:
SimCity: still haven't played 2013
Kingdom Hearts: never played Re:Coded but I know I'm not missing much there
3D Mario Platformers: haven't played Sunshine
Metroid (!Prime): haven't played Other M
Mega Man OG: haven't played 10
3D Zelda: haven't played Majora's Mask... for shame
DOOM: never played Doom 64
Mega Man X: missed X7 and X8 although I hear I didn't miss much
Blackwell: technically this is more like an episodic, but haven't gotten to Deception and Epiphany yet
Final Fantasy (single-player, mainline, non-direct sequels): haven't played III, X, XII yet
Persona: haven't played the original or the 2 duology

Fallout for me. Including the wonderful Fallout Tactics.

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for original Xbox doesn't count. I never owned an original Xbox.

I don't think it's fair to claim credit for The Elder Scrolls series unless they've played

What the garbage is that?

Remedy this ASAP. A masterpiece by any measure.

At least 5 games and played every game in the series? I think the Souls series is the only one I would qualify for. I have played all five of those games at least twice each.

I'm one or two games off several others.

I've played each Civilization for sure. Also all the original Kings Quest games .

I've finished almost all of the numbered Final Fantasy games (can't exactly finish an MMO!), and their sub-numbered sequels. The only games I haven't finished are:

  • Final Fantasy II: I'll get around to it one day, it looks interesting, but I'd want to play with an emulator to speed things up
  • Final Fantasy III: Played about 20 hours, don't really see myself going back for more. Light on story, some segments force you into a certain job which ended up frustrating me
Final Fantasy XV: Played 25 hours. I hate it. It's pretty, but the story is non-existent, and the one-button auto-reviving combat is insultingly bland.

The rest? All done and dusted! That's...About 13 games? Plus spin-offs, probably brings it close to 18-20.

And I'm trying my best to upload on my mobile, so I'm sorry if this ends up too large, but I can't leave out my favourites!

I've added to the collection since, the first photo was taken about 4 years ago (I opted to dig out an old blog entry instead of the collection for a new photo)

Tomb Raider.

Same here -- Tactics rocked.

Noted!

What's the state of ngage emulators theses days? Anyone know a good ROM site?!

Oh, I've played all the Disgaea games. I do quite enjoy that series, even if some of the luster has worn off over the years since I'm still playing with the same classes over and over again. Iterative design to a fault in some ways.

Let's see...

  • Dynasty Warriors (8 main games, a bunch of spin offs)
  • Romance of the Three Kingdoms (13 main games)
  • Wing Commander (5 main games)
  • Ace Combat
  • Final Fantasy
  • Persona
  • Wild ARMS
  • Suikoden
  • Any of the Sierra ".... Quest" games

I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting, but apparently I enjoy the franchised games

Man, that's a hard one. I guess I'm at:

Played all the Mass Effect games, but that's only 4 so far
Played all the Halo games except the most current one of Halo 5 (should be like 7 or so games in there including the beta Halo for the DS )

Great thread, really makes you think!

I've played every single player Final Fantasy game, with X-2, XIII-2, Lightening Returns, and Tactics. Strangely enough I don't consider myself a huge fan of the series - they are just solidly good games that I know I'll enjoy like vanilla. The only ones that really blew me away are The original, VII, and XII.

I've played every Civilization game with their expansions, including the Call to Power heretic duo (Call to Power 1 was great). Also Alpha Centauri, Colonization, and Beyond Earth. I even own the boardgames (Civilization, Advanced Civilization, both expansion maps, MegaCiv).

Because of Paradox. I played EU 1-4 (1 helped to keep me occupied through my Peace Corps days), Victoria 1 &2, Crusader Kings 1&2, and the Hearts of Iron Series 1-4. Except for the last Hearts of Iron game I believe I have all of the expansions.

I played through all of the Command and Conquer series (including Renegade) and watch it die a slow death. I'll let that series rest in peace now and I don't think I would ever buy any reboot of it.

Civilisation is the one for me, although I only have 30 hours in CiV VI so far.
