NFL 2017 Week 1 Thread

Falcons lose 28-3.

I mean, sure, they technically won 23-17, but, let's be realistic; they're going to be really losing every game 28-3 for a very long time.

Mike Glennon got sacked on 4th down, but he threw some good balls on 1st and 2nd down that should have gotten the win.

BORTLESMANIA WORLD TOUR 2017: THE AWAKENING: WEEK 1

125 passing yards, 1 own-team TD, 0 opposing-team completions

Tolzien underthrow = opening drive pick six

Good job going into the season starting Scott Tolzien instead of acquiring... another option.

There's a reasonable chance that in two games this week Blake Bortles and Jared Goff were the best QBs on the field.

Every bit of pressure the Panthers are putting on Hoyer comes from whomever is running over Zane Beadles.

Can the Niners please get this scrub out of the starting lineup already?

Yep, this Niners game is more what I'm used to.

Did the picks domain really expire or is the link in the OP borked?

It should be up.

Looks like the Colts converted no third downs. Guess that's what happens when the team Ryan Grigson built doesn't have Luck on the field.

Let's also talk about Jared Goff going 21-of-29 for 306 yards and a TD. #GoffMania

16 of the Rams' 46 points came on defense (2 TDs and a safety) but even still, offense posted 30 of their own.

Yay Panthers. A lot of meh on offense, but the defense looked good, mostly because the Niners are oh-my-god-horrible. I mean, Kyle Shanahan can't even manage to call a time out, ffs.

Yeah that 4th and 1 was the last chance the 49ers had to make it interesting. Terrible.

Very pleased Russell Shepard had himself a big moment; the guy was a holy terror on special teams for the Bucs for multiple years, and just couldn't get traction with all the WR depth this year. Sad to see him go, but at least he had a moment in the sun.

Packers

D played well but not reading much into it. They will probably be high risk all year. Force a turnover or give up a huge play. I can live with that. My blood pressure can't tho.

From the sound of it, it appears the Colts D may be the Saints this year. Start your fantasy players every week!

We'll see, the first week always has some weird shit going on, but Goff was always going to be better than last year with a competent offensive coaching staff. To have the day he had though? Super unexpected.

Juszczyk Check: 1 rush, 0 yds; 2 rec, 17 yds

Worth every penny so far.

Hey that was like 40% of the team's total offense, don't knock him.

Beckham is going to get paid based on tonight's game, and he didn't even play. He just stood and watched the Giants do nothing offensively without him.

If the Ravens defense is as good as they look, we might win 7 games this season.

The Bears think Kevin White may have broken his collarbone.

That dude is just never going to play in the NFL.

Probably karma for Fail Mary and the 2014 NFC championship game.

Ye gods, this O-line of Seattle.

If I'm on the defense, I'm mad the other guys can't seem to do their job.

While (also) trying to get through to Comcast to get Redzone going for me yesterday (took over an hour), it was amusing watching Lions Twitter implode as Detroit Lioned there way to an early pick 6, an injured punter (who was already replacing an injured punter), a missed XP because the punter is also the PK holder, and other Very Liony Things. Thank god they got it going after the first quarter and turned it into a pretty convincing win. (As four turnovers, with two pick sixes will tend to do. Thanks, Carson!)

Was anyone forced to watch the Eagles game? Wentz's numbers look OK, did his play match the numbers?

Is the O-Line made of toilet paper or wet toilet paper?

How many of Went'z incompletions were overthrowing wide open guys?

Am I going to have to get some sort of satellite for the camper to watch the games or is this just going to be a repeat of 2016...

No he looked terrible for the most part.. He needs to develop the deep ball sooner than later or he's at risk to turn into another Alex Smith or worse. Some of the issues are Pederson is a terrible coach who calls a terrible game but a good chunk of it is on Wentz.

Defense surprisingly looked really good so that's something...They bailed out the offense on a iffy Fumble/Incomplete pass that sealed the game late with a TD.

That really was by and large a pretty awful slate of football games. I mean, blowouts by bad teams and bad games with good teams.

TIL:

The Jaguars are above .500 for the first time since 2011. They haven’t been 1–0, they haven’t been 2–1, and they haven’t been 3–2. Since their last day above .500, the Jaguars have changed coaches five times (Jack Del Rio, Mel Tucker, Mike Mularkey, Gus Bradley, Doug Marrone) and changed owners. We’ve had two presidential elections, three Taylor Swift phases (country, pop, random industrial noises with spoken word over it for some reason) and four iPhone iterations. I was in college the last time the Jaguars were over .500, and this is my second full-time job.

Enjoy it, Legion.

SOLE possession of 1st place in the AFC South. #PlayoffBound

First place in the AFC South is basically last place in every other division.

My phone just autocorrected "South" to "Sorry" and wow my phone has gotten smart.

You're just envious because Tampa couldn't figure out a way to win yesterday.

Huh, Duane Brown still holding out for Texans. That explains a lot. He probably spent all day yesterday laughing his ass off all the way to the bank. This morning he probably got up and worked out a bunch to be in shape for this week's game.
