Nintendo Switch - Games You Can Play Right Now

I just played the prologue of Bayonetta on Switch after only ever playing the demo on PS3 way back in the day. Holy sh**! That game is something else. They should have made the prologue the demo. Looking forward to blasting through the game and then buying Bayonetta 2.

It's on my list. Someday. Maybe in a sale

I was a little leery about the game after the first 20-30 minutes because Area 1 of the remake initially appeared to be pretty much the same as Area 1 of the NES original. I was afraid that it was going to turn out to be just a reskin of the original game.

Fortunately, though, the new game does diverge pretty rapidly after that, while still remaining true to the spirit of the original.

I'd definitely recommend the new Blaster Master for anyone who liked the original!

That's really interesting to hear, I wasn't really clear on whether it was remake, sequel or something else. The original is something I completely missed but I enjoyed the new one so I would like to play the old one some time.

I actually have a question you might be able to help me with WolverineJon, is there a way to...

Spoiler:

...go back to areas six and seven after you get to the very end of the game (the new one)? When I was playing I know I missed a few things but couldn't seem to find a way back...

Have you gotten to play much more since? I only played it for the first time when it came to Switch too! Have to say that the cutscene-heavy-approach took some getting used to but I ended up really falling for the game by the end. Giving myself a break before I dive into Bayo 2 but definitely looking forward to it!

Yeah! I got a few more hours in and am loving it despite not being good at reading enemy attacks. Fortunately, you can power through pretty easily on normal.

I think I hit that problem in my playthrough, too. It was long enough ago that I couldn't remember offhand, but I hit Google, and I think this thread has the answer:

My $.02:
Finished Blaster Master Zero not long ago, and well after new release / early console release cycle hype wore off. It is worth it for anyone who enjoys retro games with modern updates. It feels like how one remembers a game from their childhood. And in this case you don't go back and find out the game was actually bad. So, definitely a recommended game, even if a lot of boss battles ended up being easy thanks to being able to lock your aim direction while moving in different directions.

Me and my girlfriend enjoy playing Mario Kart, but using a joycon each is not ideal due to the hand cramp it causes. Would I be better off getting another set of joycons or a pro controller? Is the pro controller really that much worth it over the extra joycons?

I love the pro. But then so does my wife, so I still had to use joycons for Mario Kart.

So then when they were on sale I bought a 2nd pro for me.

Mario Kart plays really well, and comfortably, with a pair of Joycons.

Full disclosure - I haven't so much as touched a pro controller yet, so that's not a comparison.

If you are really into Kart, you can always by the joy-con wheels. Those are pretty cheap.

The Pro is awesome. At some point, I'm expecting there to be a game like Mario Party that might make one want to own more than one pair of Joycons, but it hasn't happened yet.

There's also those cool Bluetooth adaptors that let you use lots of controllers you may already own with a Switch. They are WAY cheaper than either of the options we're discussing. I have one by 8bitdo.

I've found that the left analog stick on the Pro is a little nicer than the one on the Joy-Cons, making it a bit easier to execute inputs where you're just _slightly_ steering left or right, as opposed to steering hard left or right.

In practice, though, I've found that this really only makes any practical difference in time trial mode (when I'm driving a particular course repeatedly trying to shave tenths of seconds off a course time) -- and then only rarely.

The Pro is a much better device for playing twin stick games. The Joy-Cons are almost as tough to use as the Vita sticks. The lack of give makes it hard to have nuance in where you're aiming.

I played 2-3 hours on the PS3 and plan to buy it on the Switch to play it properly. But boy, that game is weird and kitsch in a way I can't really tell if it's ironic or not. The cheesy muzak versions of Presley songs, "You're the Devil in disguise" if I remember correctly, and the whole heaven & hell theme. It's way way over the top.

I played this on the plane over the weekend. I quit after the first real level because it was too hard to really figure out what was going on...but jeez. What a weird game. Quirky is too tame a term for it.

Sassy?

I chalked that up to culture cross-over. If we were Japanese, I assume that would be clear as day.

I think a lot of non-US cultures are far less ironic, to their benefit. Cognitive dissonance can't be good for our mental and emotional health.

I got to play the first 30 minutes or so of Mario + Rabbids, the tactical game. Both did it start slow but after some severe handholding and irritating videos it opened up into a pretty entertaining few battles. Im looking forward to being able to make squad and loadout choices.

Its a pretty unexpected game overall. Im hoping it created some new Tactics genre fans.

I have the opposite experience

Super sassy!

My 6 year old has been watching videos of Labo on the Switch, instead of playing games. I asked him if we should get the Robot pack or the Variety pack with the like 8 things to do.... he's dead set on the Robot one

Manticore Galaxy on Fire - Launch Trailer
* I just purchased this from work. Hopefully two things - 1. it will be downloaded by the time I get home, 2. the horrible voice over is for the commercial and not part of the game.

I feel like I played that a few years ago. Steam version of phone game maybe?

I guess this has new stuff added?

They have had a couple "Galaxy of Fire" games. I am not sure if this one was released on other platforms but I have a pretty good idea of what the game will be like.

I was looking forward to it, but after reading a review I'm passing for now. Galaxy on Fire and the sequel were Privateer style games. I've always been curious to get into them but didn't because of the touch controls. Apparently this is a port of 3, which is more a Wing Commander style game, without the trading and ship upgrading. That takes away most of the appeal for me.

OMG the RC car is awesome.

Didn't know it had a camera. Sweet.

I built a rod and caught 3 fish. This is amazing.

I want a second controller for my Switch, mainly because me and my girlfriend like playing Mario Kart, but using a joycon each cramps our hands fairly quick. Would I be better off getting another set of joycons or the pro controller?
