(Posting this absolutely should be taken as an endorsement to watch literally everything put out on that channel)
I second this. Ahoy's videos are awesome.
Zelda is 86 at metacritic as embargo dropped this morning
I'm tempted to either save money for a Switch 2 or an Ally X. I hope Nintendo might change my mind with a price announcement.

I assume this thread's been super quiet ever since The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom released because the the game is so damn good and everyone's busy playing it, right? Because the game is indeed so damn good.
but not the framerate so I'll wait to play it on Switch 2
I am so glad minor framerate issues don't bother me. The game is gorgeous (playing docked), and frankly if there were any framerate hitches, I haven't even noticed them.
(playing docked)
Wow, glad it's working for you, since Switch can't perform as well docked as handheld. Same problem as happened with Link's Awakening.
Look at this stutter, starts 1:43
There are 2 or 3 people talking about it on the Discord (the main reason I don't like the separation of forum and Discord).
Echoes of Wisdom is going to be a Christmas present to the wife, so it hasn't been bought yet.
Meh. That video wants 60 FPS all the time. As a PC gamer that only happens right when you build a new system, and then you spend the next 3-4 years with less and less games matching that until you build a new one. Consoles don't do that at all. That's an unrealistic fantasy.

You know how to kill a small community? By further dividing it into isolated parts. I never understood why GWJ wanted to run Slack or Discord when it already has a forum, it is just going to make them all worse.

Yeah, that all looks totally fine to me. Gorgeous, in fact. I also totally enjoyed playing through Link's Awakening and really didn't understand all the framerate fuss.
And I say this as someone with a PC super-rig that typically gives 120+ fps.

As far as I'm aware, it was community members themselves that created the Slack and Discord servers, not this forum's administration. The community is still alive, just some folks enjoy the more interactive and immediate nature of chat.
And I'm one of the 2 or 3 people talking about the new Zelda game in Discord.

Yeah I'd be happy to talk here or there, either way. Doing both so far. I still check the forums a ton but I get pinged on my phone when people reply on Discord.
How would one find a Zelda conversation on the Discord? I don't see Zelda in any of the channel names and the thought of reading the whole server is overwhelming.
The megathreads on this site make it closer to Discord than a lot of forums, but even here the topics are much narrower. Makes it easier to filter stuff out.

Constant....that's what is good, doesn't matter to most whether it's 30 or 60, or somewhere between. The massive jump from 30 to 60 and back is what is bothersome. Does it not cause you headaches??? You can literally see where the screen rotation can't keep up with the intended movement because of that. Totally immersion breaking. It looks like they toned it down slightly from Link's Awakening, at least, because in that one, it happened pretty much every time you ever moved from one sector over to another.

I started noticing it last night while I was playing, but it doesn't bother me or my enjoyment of this delightful game.

Also the Discord search feature works really well. Searching just for "Zelda" brings my recent comment in the Nintendo thread right to the top:
I picked up Echoes of Wisdom on a whim. I had a left over voucher. I listened to some reviews that were raving about it. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it. But I’ve put 3 or 4 hours in and it’s blown me away. I’m still early, just finished the first dungeon, but it’s really impressed. It controls and feels way better than I expected. The visually style is great and looks a lot better on my big tv than it ever did in videos. In BOTW and TOTK Nintendo upended the 3D zelda formula by creating ways to interact with the world that fundamentally changed the experience. It seems like with Echoes they done the same to the 2d Zelda formula.
It does seem to me that some people are much more sensitive to an unstable frame rate. Kind of reminds me of how some people have more motion sickness, etc.

Strangely, I do get massive motion sickness when watching videos of people playing 3d games, if it's super twitchy gameplay and I have the video in full-screen. If I keep the video postage-stamp sized, I'm usually fine. Very rarely I'll get motion sickness from actually playing a game, but usually that's mitigated by increasing the FOV to 90 (Minecraft is the worst offender of this for me).

The what now? I see no such thing...
Oh, those are groups of channels, not channels themselves. Would've been nice if the iconography gave any indication of that. It doesn't help that there are other sorts of channel groupings that have the usual triangle indicating a collapsible list.
Wait, that means there's even more stuff to sort through than I thought there was back when I first got overwhelmed...
I think this is looking very promising. The animations in particular look really nice.
Mario & Luigi Brothership is a day 1 purchase, for me. Missed the series' absence. Not letting it get away again hehehe. Also, not in a hurry for Switch 2. It can take its sweet time for all I care.
I'm also eagerly looking forward to M&L; that franchise has always had just the right amount of goofy fun writing and action to make it entertaining throughout. That said, I'm not fully sold on the art style, but I won't let that hold me back.
My hurry for the Switch 2 is largely based on the grinding noise the fan in my Switch 1 makes every time I boot it up. It's a launch unit, so it's increasingly long in the tooth and probably not long for this world (or at least, not long before it gets shipped back to Ninty for repair).
Ideal situation, it dies a month after Switch 2 comes out which is back-compatible enough that I can move the portion of my Switch library I care about over to the new machine. Honestly, if the back-compat is limited to Ninty titles only, I can get down with that.

Very much this. Superstar Saga, Bowser's Inside Story and SMRPG are among my favorite games all time, and this looks like it is a worthy successor to those.

I'm getting ready to refurbish my launch unit. Case is cracked / the exhaust grill slats are long since gone which is causing a bit of a bulge, the joycons sometimes disengage when connected directly with the system, and the game card slot catch/release barely functional. But considering it's the first system that my kids have also had their entire gaming life and it occasionally gets pulled for handheld use, it's doing quite well. I need to research the rails and game card reader repairs to be sure it's not too hard, but considering I've ripped apart 3 DS Lites and a 2D XL for hinge / screen replacements, I'll probably be fine as long as there's no soldering.
I might do the fan while I'm at it as it seems like a wise choice.
Between this and the alarm clock I feel like Nintendo wants to do anything but games and gaming hardware.
Nintendo Music – Announcement Trailer
I mean, it’s not like this is new. Remember when Nintendo tried to be a fitness company?. Or a cardboard core company? Or a scammy brain-training company?
