E3 2017: Sony E3 Conference Catch-All, Monday 9PM EST

Fieval goes dungeon crawling.

Edit: I'm watching on the Playstation E3 Showcase app on my PS4 for anyone seeking out a solid stream.

God of War looks amazing.

So far I'm in for Uncharted and God of War, as I have been and will be.

Sony landing their first MH game in years is interesting. I'm guessing they're worried about the Switch. Although given the name I imagine it's either an MMO or Western audience focused.

Japan. That's all you need to know.

Marcus is the great white savior.

Destiny trailers aren't very good without Nathan Fillion.

I will be playing a lot of Destiny 2 this fall.

Monster Hunter?

I am so happy.

Since it a big deal whats the Monster Hunter loop exactly.. I feel like I'm missing out on something special.

I think this is going to be the first Spider-Man game I play since 1990's The Amazing Spider-Man, haha.

Hunt a velociraptor-looking monster or two.
Build a weapon from its bones.
Hunt a bigger monster.
Build armor from its horns, tail, etc.
Hunt bigger monsters.
Build more stuff.

And do it all with your friends in 4-player online coop.

100 hours later you hunt the toughest monsters in the game and maybe you're done.

Or maybe you switch weapons and play dozens more hours.

You fight monsters and awkward gameplay mechanics in order to gain raw materials to craft new gear that let's you fight tougher monsters.

Spiderman looks pretty damn cool. The chunk they showed was surely more cinematic than the normal gameplay loop.

Well that was a thing. Main highlights for me were the FFXV Fishing Expansion thing (hopefully it's not VR exclusive) and Shadow of the Colossus (since I've yet to play either version we apparently own already).

I'm morbidly curious to see what's going on with Detroit. Either the last trailer didn't focus test at all or their going for multiple plots or something.

And Spider-Man is trying to make QTEs en vogue again I swear.

You spend three hours picking mushrooms to make potions for a fifteen minute fight with a dinosaur that's actually mostly tracking them down and chasing them when they run away. Then you fail to kill the dinosaur or just don't get the right carve you need from its corpse to make your giant sword hammer blow gun thing marginally better.

And it's fun?

Yeah, it looked fantastic.

So it's fantasy Destiny?

(I know absolutely nothing about Destiny but that doesn't sound too far off from most MMO loot cycles: hours of prep and busy work, followed by a not satisfying result from the slot machine at the end)

Well I just saw a bunch of games I really want to play. And now I want VR too. Ugh.

Pretty much, but with more down time and more dinosaurs.

Wow, too many good games.

Monster Hunter, Shadow of the Colossus Remake, God of War, Spider-Man, Destiny 2...

I'm psyched for the year ahead. Sony's doing it right with strong content.

One of those things does not fit in that sentence

Well, that was a touch disappointing for me. A few things to be excited about (Uncharted, God of War, Shadow of the Colossus remake), but no Red Dead 2, no Bloodborne 2 (or anything from FROM), and no Last of Us 2 left me 0-for-3 on what I was hoping to see.

I didn't expect to be even moderately whelmed by Sony's game, but even so I was underwhelmed. Shadow of the Colossus looks neat, and Spiderman seems like a neat Rocksteady clone. But nothing else did much for me, and I lost interest in projects that previously looked good.

Was anything coming out in 2017?

That was probably the biggest head-scratcher for me. Instead we got Uncharted 4 DLC. I wonder what happened.

I agree with the underwhelming sentiment.

As much as I'm interested to see SoC, I'm a little annoyed that they're going back to the well after doing an HD remake last generation. On the other hand, they did the same thing with Ratchet & Clank right?

As for 2017... If I recall correctly: Horizon DLC, Uncharted 4 DLC, Destiny 2, Final Fantasy XV fishing thing, COD, some of the other VR stuff I think were all 2017 titles.

Spiderman looked like someone finally made Arkham style combat that doesn't look awkward.

I'm not usually much into Insomniac's titles but that demo really impressed me. Obv a heavily scripted portion of the game, but if they nail the swinging around the city bit I might actually pick it up.

Monster Hunter on PS again. Who saw that coming? Sony must've rolled up with a truck load of cash.

Other than that.......... Nothing too exciting for my tastes.

I swear I'm more impressionable now than I was when I was younger, but, just like last year, I loved almost everything Sony showed: Lost Legacy, Days Gone, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Detroit, and Spider-Man. Which is good, because other than Beyond Good & Evil 2, I hadn't really seen anything else at this year's conferences that looked interesting. I was excited to see Assassin's Creed and Shadow of War, but they just looked okay. In any case, it's not as if I don't have a ton of games to play right now .

The God of War trailer from last year made it look like they were trying something new but this trailer seemed to be just more of the same old God of War but with an annoying kid following you around.

Well that was underwhelming. Nothing new caught my eye and the gameplay footage of Spiderman completely killed my interest in the game. I was hoping for an semi open-world style game, but instead it looks like we're getting an on-rails QTE fest.

God of War looks fun I guess and I can't say no to a Shadow of the Colossus remake, but that's about it. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Ubisoft might just be the winner of E3 year this.

Last of Us 2 is probably nowhere near release as we only saw a cut scene last time.

Also, Days Gone looks very samey (in a good way) so they may want to keep them out of the same demo.

I can't believe how much more I liked Sony's conference than Microsoft's.
