It's that time of the year again... Steam Summer Sale 2017 Buy-All

I'm probably going to sit this sale out, unless there's a particularly good deal on one of these:

Everspace
Caves of Qud
Hollow Knight
NieR: Automata

And assuming Dark Souls 2 Super Ultra Edition doesn't drop below $12, I think I'm going to buy into the Humble Monthly bundle for the first time.

Hollow Knight is fantastic. Don't wait for a deep discount.

Everspace is great fun.

I hear great things about Hollow Knight.

Fabulous game. Just came out of early access though, so if there is a deal, it'll likely be slight.

I'm hoping for 33% off NieR: Automata.

Yep, I've been lurking the Catch-All, reading some fantastic tales. I'm hoping it goes for 33% ($20); not expecting a huge discount.

And Hollow Knight is starting at an already-reasonable $15 point. $10 would be great.

I put a few Dota2 thingamabobs up on the marketplace earlier today that have found their way into my inventory over the past few years; that should cover a game or two.

In preparation there is this deal for $100 in steam gift cards for $90. Now, I have not used this exact sale before but have done others all went well. I just ordered $200 worth so can confirm once I receive.

They have other networks also. Do note you need to buy at least 2 to get discount.

Thanks. I just bought $100 worth now.

EDIT: Got two $50 codes 5 minutes later, and they worked perfectly.

In for $90. Thanks!

I wish AC had a "tourist" mode, where the story is ignored. As you climb around the map you get a voice over telling you the history of the things around you. Maybe throw in some casual challenges to gamify it. I would play the buhjeezis out of that.

+1 to this. The different settings and parkour has always been the main draw for me in AC so I'd love a game with just that

The historical low price of Unity is $10, and while that's clearly double the GWJ-standard $5 price point, it should be pretty easy to get $10 worth of enjoyment out of the game. But as is always the case with Steam sales: If you're not going to play the game right after buying, you're probably better off waiting.

That's a little disappointing to hear but I think I'd still be interested in checking one of the newer ones for that price. Unity keeps getting thrown around so maybe I'll go for that one next.

If a game is currently on sale, is it safe to assume that the price won't go lower in the summer sale?

I can only speak anecdotally, but it seems like Steam has gotten a LOT less aggressive about pricing for a couple years now. They don't seem to be pushing the envelope anymore like they used to back when they still had flash and daily deals.

Instead, they seem content to be on the largest platform with deals just good enough to be competitive. In a few instances I've seen Steam actually be a little more expensive than what had previously closed on a smaller service. YMMV of course, but I don't think there is as much danger as there once was.

Sidenote: I've been thrilled this year that it hasn't gone on sale all that much which means it's been selling great at full price. It was in the Steam top sellers forever. It feels like it's time for a significant sale at this point, but they didn't put it on sale for the PSN E3 sale, so we'll see.

At any rate, I hope when it eventually goes on sale and you get it that you have an enlightened time with it.

Honestly, I will probably buy it now regardless. I just wanted to finish the backlog of Zelda/HZD before I had another 30+ hour single player game going. With that new steam gift car sale i at least get 10% off either way.

Also definitely worth another mention for both Enhanced Steam and IsThereAnyDeal.com.

Loads of legitimate smaller stores seem to hit sales in and around the same time as Steam, and often for even cheaper prices, for Steam Keys. These aren't Grey Market key sellers. You can even import your Steam wishlist, set target prices, and isthereanydeal will email you when that game reaches that price on -any- of the sites.

I've actually reach the point that I rarely buy games directly on Steam, because there are usually savings to be made elsewhere.

Steam cards are sold out now on SlickDeals.

I think my kids would love it. Best played with a controller?

Thinking mostly about HOI4 and Tyranny if there are particularly good deals, and I'll probably crack and buy Curious Expedition.

And now Tyranny's 50% sale has come and gone, and HOI4 is 50% off now... and I'm not biting. Guess I have too much to play right now.

Absolutely. I wouldn't want to play it without one.

Do note reading from comments earlier. One guy bought Gamestop cards, then used the gamestop cards to buy PSN cards. I am sure the same would work for steam.

Late notice, but our local Target is doing buy one get one 10% off Steam and other game gift cards through tomorrow (6/17). I think you also still get 5% off that if you use their Red Card. I'd check your local ad before going though.

Excellent point, that.

It has begun!!!

Time to craft!!!!!

Gamening intensifies!

So do trading card prices usually go up before the sale or during the sale? I may be nearing my 200 card selling limit for the year but I might as well try and maximize what I get.

Crafted a few. Got some mystery cards.

And I got a new phone recently and moved my Steam Authenticator to it, and now it seems I'm locked out of the market until the 29th...

Its for your own protection. Steam knows what is best for you.

That seems rather odd. I would think they would have a way to instantly validate the new phone. I guess they want to avoid a situation where hacker took over your account and transfered the app to their phone.

Public Service Announcement: Please include your Steam account link in your signature -- or better yet, your GWJ profile (Edit->External Services) -- so we can see your wishlists. These game gifts aren't going to buy themselves!

Whew! Thanks for the reminder.

Not sure what I'm looking to get this time around. My wishlist has ballooned over past year. I'll probably just end up picking off some of the cheaper things on it - indie games of yesteryear mostly. Undertale, Hyper Light Drifter, Darkest Dungeon, etc. Among bigger things, a good deal on Rise of the Tomb Raider would be nice.
