Is that actually in the game? Nothing would make me happier than to recolor same vehicle types.

I had a quest / contract that was supposed to allow me to do that. I never took advantage.

Yep, it's a quest reward.

As for doing 15 things at once, that's possible in the early build-out of an area. Later on, you'll have 5-8 trucks on one project. It's part of what reduces the grindy nature of the game to something more Zen-like.

The painting isn't great. Each truck only has like four colors it can be cycled through... it's not really enough to identify a truck for a specific role, but then again... like Robear just said, once you have 15 trucks going all which ways you're kind of just assigning them to do something and moving on, knocking down pins, not worrying too much about who is doing what where, it gets really zen and the stress of assigning the right truck to a job goes away.

Unless you like to stress about things. You can still stress if you want to....

Uh oh... it was running a bit choppy earlier so I closed it down and did other things. Starting it up just now and I only have one fifth of the money I had. From 1.25 million to 250k. That's a bit crushing.
Still showing 32 industries at 3 stars so at least that progress didn't get wiped out.

Edit: What the heck? I tab back to the game and now I'm at 1.18 million. Aaah! Figured it out. I guess they started me with a city from the tutorial island selected and it maintains its own purse. Once I clicked on the main map it swiched back.

Curious how other people are playing it.

While I have access to the 40t articulated trucks, I don't have that many places that can actually produce 40t of anything and that truck would just be sitting there.

Also, where the heck do you find Barley? My beerworks is at a standstill.

Once I found the concrete factory that the 40t could access, I started to open up the map by having the 40t trucks complete the roads that need concrete. The same with asphalt. This opened up a tremendous amount of new supply and I now have access to everything from Brisbane to Melbourne. After I found coffee, I focused on completing Sydney for the 4x speed. With that, everything is easier.

Now, I'm working on getting individual cities along the 40t road fully upgraded, using 20t trucks and 40t trucks. In the course of doing this, I fully upgraded all of the warehouses and am working on keeping them fully stocked with whatever I am able to produce.

Right now, I'm working with 3 x dump trucks (I just sold a 20t to get another dump truck so I can finish off the towns that are off the main road), 3 x 40t and the rest 20t trucks. If a nearby warehouse has what I need, completing a city's requirement is trivially easy.

This is a map of what I'm up to:

I really need to send trucks out to explore. I haven't done that yet, but it makes sense now. Maybe a pair of new one-tonners would do it quickly... Or are Utes faster?

Okay, so maybe I'm being stupid here, but I swear I'm doing this the exact same way for each of these and I'm getting different results.

Partial loads, or changing the destination of a truck with a load that is no longer needed.
If I click and drag a truck from my list with cargo already loaded sometimes it will highlight valid destinations and show the flow of cargo from the truck's position to the destination, sometimes it will highlight valid destinations but show the flow of cargo TO the truck's position and not allow me to select any of the highlighted circles, and sometimes it won't highlight any destinations while still showing the flow of cargo TO the truck. I haven't checked if the truck being in a city or powered down on the road makes any difference. Is there a magic spot or process to make this a little more consistent? I've defaulted to leaving my trucks in Dump ALL cargo mode because of my frustrations with this, but as I'm moving to 20 and 40 ton vehicles that's going to start chaffing soon too.

Is this a toggle that I don't see? Aside from manually babysitting a truck, is there a way for an 8t truck that is say carrying oranges to drop off the 1.8t needed in one town, and then wait for orders on the remaining 6.2t? I only have one 20t truck that is just moving concrete around, so I haven't tried anything special with it, but I would love for my 8t to be able to spread stuff around as I still have a number of unupgraded industries that just need 2x or 4x of some good.

I can't quite tell if this is your experience, but sometimes you are fighting to deliver goods to a place that supplies those goods. If that's the case, the game won't always pick the correct direction for your delivery.

IF you run into this scenario, drag the mouse off the city and then back on. Doing this reverses the direction of flow. Keep dragging on and off until you get the flow in the correct direction.

I think you're going to need to sell off some of your 20t trucks and get a fleet of dump trucks going again. There are some real obnoxious towns like Newcastle. Unless you plan to get goods really close, 3 dump trucks aren't going to cut it.

It's way interesting that you've totally focused on big movement and clearing all the roads. I'm clearing region by region, and getting rid of every small town I can before focusing on the bigger targets. As such, my map is way less open but I've completed a lot more towns.

I'm running 7 dump trucks, 4 20t, 1 40t and 1 80t. Also, I have the first tuk-tuk I ever bought...

The little green light next to Empty on the Fill gauge.
Drops off just enough to satisfy the need and then waits. One 20t load of steel can upgrade lots of industries as long as they're sitting on a main road.

Hivemind - need confirmation on something. When you complete a good for a city, that good stays completed (over 100%) even if you don't finish the other requirements, correct?

No.

If you over deliver a good, the bar will go past the end but it will continue to be consumed. If you don't finish the other requirements, eventually the bar will empty out just like any other resource.

The thing about over 100% is, it's not precise. If a city requires 2t and you deliver 20t, it will look like there's about 105-110% of the needed goods there. But really, there's 20t there. And it will take whatever time it takes to consume 18t to fall down below the 100% mark.

Similarly, if the city requires 7.6t and you deliver 8t, then it will barely be over the 100% mark, but it will still look the same--like it's 105-110%--but it will fall down below the 100% mark very soon after if you neglect to fill the other requirements of the city.

And some cities consume some goods very quickly, so pay attention and control your inflow rate accordingly.

For sure. There was one early city (Castle Hill?) that just wanted about 40t of newspapers. A single dump truck (8t) could not keep the bar moving faster than consumption. Even with 2, it took a while before it went into yellow zone.

The cargo directional thing seems to be happening in the context of Warehouse cities. And it seems to happen if the city you have selected supplies that good, even if the truck you are trying to redirect is nowhere near. Maybe. Gotta do some testing, but in the limited cases I've tried it seems to suddenly snap into DELIVERING vs PICKING UP once I select a different city and then try dragging the truck again.

Filed under: no, really? Amazing deduction Captain Obvious.
Unknown hours into this game and I just now put together the relationship of the white number in the bottom right corner of an industry and its output capacity. I mistakenly assumed that it reflected the number of product created per cycle (which it might actually do, in a way), but what I failed to notice is that different cities might have different output capacities for the same industry.

Finally unlocked 2x mode. The larger trucks seem to work better towards the west. I have two 40 ton trucks tag-teaming all the asphalt and cement projects and unlocking areas. It seems like there is a great network of stuff connected by higher capacity roads in that direction, so I've sent a few 8 tonners to start upgrading the tier 10 stuff a bit.
I am starting to diversify more, building up connective industries while warehousing most of the output. Looking at some of the city requirements it feels like the 'best' approach is to have a stockpile of the more complicated goods to draw from rather than trying to maintain all the stages of production.
The tiered industries seem to ramp up linearly. A tier 2 steelworks maxes at around 50 product, a tier 10 at over 500 at three stars.
Definitely worth seeking out the higher tier.

This is going to be a strange question.

Is there any means to get back to the start screen? If I click on the wrong save game I've been closing the game and restarting to select the correct save.

Sydney, we need to have a talk. I love coffee too, right? I mean I LOVE coffee, but the rate at which you're guzzling this down? Are you filling your swimming pools with the stuff? I had over 750 tons staged nearby and ready to flood your streets with delicious caffeine and you took that amount, laughed, and just kept on guzzling. I've now devoted every vehicle that can reach you and my coffee supplier to keeping the stream going rather than admit defeat and refill the warehouses for a second attempt. Thousands of tons have surely been dropped off at this point, and still the bar hovers at only three quarters full. Sydney, you have a coffee problem! Sure, I may be profiting from your addiction, slightly, but at this point I think you and I would both rather have my fleet working 2x as fast (though you would become twice as thirsty as a result as well... still, once sated you should be 'fine.' )
Maybe I need to upgrade another dump truck...

@Rezzy

You need some perspective.

There are 4.62 Million people in Sydney,
They have requested you deliver 462t of Coffee.
That's 1t of coffee per 10k people, 2k lbs per 10k people, 1k lbs per 5k people
1 pound per 5 people.

Now, you're watching the news in Sydney. Stores are FINALLY getting coffee in them, but here's the thing. There's only going to be enough for one in five people to buy a one pound bag of coffee.

And there's never going to be another shipment ever.

You get down to the Woolworths and the Coles and you take every bag you can find. You stock them for later. You sell them on Ebay for exorbitant prices. Coffee is like gold.

You're lucky it doesn't move faster.

This might be my favoritest post ever.

So, it's likely to be a problem unique to me but...

If you click on the TRUCK in the truck list, you focus the camera on the truck.
If you click anywhere else on the truck's line, the truck is selected but the camera does not move.
If you click on the city names, it focuses the camera on the city you click on.

For some reason, I would ONLY click on the TRUCK and the camera would bounce around like mad and it was really irritating me. I had to suggest this not be the default behavior on the forums in order for people to tell me how stupid I was and for me to learn about the secondary (or maybe primary depending on how you look at it) behavior of just selecting a truck by clicking on the line.

Anyway... it might help someone else to know about the other behaviors...

Yayyyyyy! Thank you!

Oh uh.
So expanding westward there seems to be a bit of a change. Lots of cities with no industry, and quarantine zones at the borders meaning that you need to start creating and expanding your own web of resources. I stared at my 65 unlocked industries and the sea of cities and just froze up with indecision. To be fair I was dead tired and halfway through a hard cider variety pack... Wild times! So maybe it will look different once I get to play later, but at the moment it feels like I should be sitting down with some flowcharts and graph-paper and I don't know that I can give this game the attention I want(need) to give it to do this right. Or maybe I'm overthinking it and just missed the easy foothold that would jumpstart my expansion in those territories. Maybe in the contracts?

Edit: Huh... did the counting of industries change with the update? I suddenly show 137 industries at 3 stars, with 100 cities completed in the territory. I was kind of proud of maintaining a .5 ratio at the beginning of the variety pack so I wonder when the other 50+ upgrades popped.

I expanded north first, not west, but I am facing the same difficulties you are. You basically have to establish all the quarantine industries on the other the other side of the wall.

I don't worry too much about optimal placement of anything... I ship goods halfway across Australia without another thought. As you unlock more speed ups (speaking of which, Brisbane is north) you can worry less about the optimal configuration because there's less waiting for everything

My main difficulty with expanding North was I could never find a place to drop the industries I needed. But I just figured out why. I haven't unlocked them yet. I don't know how many industries I actually have unlocked, but some of the core things I never bothered to upgrade to level 3.

Looking at the industries page, well over half of the industries don't have a 3 next to them. I have 285 level 3 industries (according to the score at the top) but a lot of those must be repeated because there are so many things I haven't even earned the right to build yet.
