I saw a PA cartoons saying how playing with Rando's is actually enjoyable in this game. Does that match people's experience?
I bounced between a few games, and it may have just been twice where I was the 4th member and the other 3 were friends, but it was really jarring where I went from one crew that was essentially the "party boat" with a drunk captain gesturing and giving vague commands such as "go that away and make those a-holes dead" to the very next game where the other 3 people were role playing hard, and the captain demanded that I call him "sir"
I hope to get into more, fully random games
I bought a Vive to play this (or perhaps used this as an excuse to buy a Vive) and I've been dabbling with this and with several other of the highly rated VR games/apps out there. One thing I've noticed is that the resolution of this game is shockingly poor compared to many of the other games out there. Is this because it needs to be compatible with Playstation VR?
Picked this up yesterday (on Vive) and ran through the tutorials...holy sh*t, this is really Star Trek!
Will try to brave the randos but would be in with a group of GWJers fo sure.
So I learned two things today:
1 - Randoms are taking this game super seriously
2 - Cross play really works. I played several games with a mix of Vive/PSVR/Oculus teams.

Does that mean 'Not being silly' or does that mean 'How come it took you 30 seconds to lower the shields?!'
Loved the training even if it's odd getting used to seeing someone else's hands when I look down
(motleywizard on Steam)
Speaking of groups, we need to plan a time that we can do a GWJ session.
I set up a room on the RUin site for tomorrow. If anyone wants to pop in to form a ST:BC group. I have only had good Rando experiences so far, but if there is an interest I'd definitely be up for trying something organized out.

More on the role playing side of seriously. The mechanics of the roles fully segregated from your teammates (with the exception of commander intervention) really push everyone to be on task and working together.
I've played five or six sessions with randoms and there wasn't a bad experience in the bunch.
So... with this going non-VR, is it worth snagging it for $25? On the fence about it given that I don't play online much, so I'd probably be using the AI heavily.

My guess is they are doing non VR in the hope that they can get player count up, because it isn't that great single player.
It is a lot of fun when played with friends, but there isn't a ton there, so once you've played it a couple evenings, you've pretty much played everything (which is why the player count has been dropping)
If you're ok with spending $25 for a couple nights of fun with friends who have the game, go for it, otherwise, well it is pretty, and cool to pretend to be on the bridge of the classic Enterprise, but I've found single player more frustrating than fun.
That was one of my worries that was also a problem with the old Starfleet Command games. The single player was just a bunch of recycled random missions which made them boring after a while. I'll just hold off on it for now then.
Looks like the DLC's out now! This kind of caught me by surprise; it seemed like Bridge Crew had been completely ignored for some time. Anyway, any GWJers want to crew up and make pew pew noises?
What’s the new DLC involve?
What system are you playing on?

I'm on PSVR, although all platforms have cross-play.
The DLC is The Next Generation - the Enterprise D, Romulans, a few new mission types, modifications to some of the positions, and the Borg. I've only messed around with it a little, and it's fundamentally the same game, but it's nice to add a few more twists.
So I finally got to play this a bit.
It's better than Bridge Commander.
Still not as good as Klingon Academy.
Bumping the thread in the interest of finding a fourth crewperson for our Wednesday night group. 830pm EST. ideally looking for someone who hasn't already burned through all the content, as novelty seems to be what makes this fun based on one session so far.
I have not played in awhile, but if you need an alternate hit me up in Steam.

I should be able to make it. I have the game but only put a 3-4 hours in when it first came out. Are there any expansions to buy?
Sadly just the one.

I'm dying for a DS9 expansion so we can fly the Defiant. Sadly I doubt that'll come to pass.

Definitely would enjoy having you on board. We're playing through the base game and then planning to spend some time on the Enterprise D. So, I'd say you could get away with just the base game for now and then buy the TNG DLC when we get to that point. Planning for 8:30 EST this weds. I sent you a friend invite on Steam. Thanks and looking forward.

Will do. Friended you in Steam. Planning for this Wednesday.
While we're on the topic of putting together crews for space sims. Did any of you try Pulsar: Lost Colony? It's another worth rounding up a crew for. So that's a potential continuation of the voyage when popping Warbirds gets stale.
Looking for a fourth crewman for tonight's voyage. Kicking off at 9:00 EST.
We struggled to find a suitable replacement for "engage" last sesh. All suggestions welcome.

Ooh, I haven't had a chance to play this at home, just once at PAX. If you still need a crew member, I'd be happy to take a spot.
Also, I think "engage" is ideal.

Great! Welcome aboard Ensign. This is our second flight, I think we're on the third campaign mission. Steam invite sent.
I'm so sorry I had to bail. For some stupid reason, my Rift decided that the USB 3.0 port it was plugged into was a USB 2 port, and so it was not tracking well, and the sound was cutting out at ridiculous rates. Between the entire field of vision shifting 6-9 inches every half-second or so and not being able to tell what people were saying, I was both getting ill and not able to help in any way. I'm trying to see if this is a fixable problem, but good lord is the Oculus support page useless.

I just jumped back in this thread to announce a crew call and saw your last message Atras. That sounds like you were actively suffering there during that last session.
Edit: 5/27 crew call cancelled- one regular sick, one can't make it.
