Jeez, the Patriots cut Tony Ealy. Jets pick him up. Poor guy.

Also, Kizer to be named week 1 starter for Browns. Poor kid.

49ers look sharp tonight. But preseason. Meh. Don't get hopes up.

Him, too? Well, at least he can hang out in New York with his brother Kony.

Believe in Hoyer the Destroyer. The resurrection of the great franchise begins this season!

Burfict gets himself suspended in pre season. How the hell does that happen?

So he's either going to be a great QB or a serial killer, depending on context.

Andrew Luck remains on PUP, Colts now saying there is "no timetable" for his return.

From FO:

"I thought it was a good learning experience and think Detroit did a really good job watching the tape from last week. They mixed up the looks I thought. A lot of credit to them and I thought overall just a very good experience."
-- New York Jets quarterback Christian Hackenberg following his team's 16-6 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 2 of the preseason.

"We don't game plan a ton for these guys. We don't watch a ton of tape. Those offensive linemen don't study the defensive linemen like they would in a regular game week."
-- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford when asked about film preparation following the same game.

*Hackenberg stares at his first and only read immediately after each snap*

*Detroit players jump on every pass he throws*

Hackenberg: "HOW DO THEY KNOW?"

I love that quote.

I did not love the first-half shellacking the Pats gave the Lions quite so much. It's never good to hear the same sorts of quotes coming out of the Lions this week ("good learning experience," "we now see how far we have to go") that the Jets were using after that second game.

The Lions OL is in bad shape. Ansah is on the "maybe next season" list and Stafford will continue to be fun to watch but fail to win games.

So, basically, it's the same as every year, Todd. I don't know why you're worried about anything, the Lions won't ever change.

Oh, btw, Bortles is the season starter.

The resurrection begins.

Bortles does have 69 touchdown passes, but only five of those have come when the Jaguars were leading the game.

How many of them did he throw for the opposing team?

Bortles has 11 career pick sixes.

11 career wins.

5 career TDs while leading.

#BORTLESMANIA

Bortles has 5 more career TDs while leading than *Legion*.

Now it feels like football season.

Josh McCown has been named Week 1 starter for the New York Dumpster Fires

All because he can break a huddle.

Petty (trying to line up under center): "I still don't know where to put my hands."

Hackenberg: "Their defensive backs are lining up where our receivers line up! Amazing tape study!"

And yet they're still my team.

For what it's worth, though, I definitely don't "worry" over them. I maintain an interest, and when they lose I shrug and move on with my day. Someday they will put it all together. I just hope I'm alive to see it.

Petty at least showed he could throw to people. If not for his injury I think they may have given him a shot. Now he's the week 10 youngster who will take over from McCown when the Jets are 0-10.

Oh I agree that you play Petty if you can if for no other reason than there's no future in Josh McCown.

Of course, the young QB they YOLO start ought to be the one they recently spent a 2nd round pick on, but the Hack is still unplayable.
