Fishing really shows off how beautiful Far Cry 5 can be.

SO CURIOUS to see some spoiler talk from others. Just finished the game and... wow...

Far Cry 4 was an amazing ending because no matter what you did, it's clear that the country is still in the hands of a despotic sh*thead. No getting away from that. Those who would seek power are generally not fit to wield it.

This ending though... man... what the fuuuuu... and I got the GOOD ending? I looked up the other and that's actually like... just as bad. O_o

My ending talk (Good End):

Spoiler:

So Seed was right and the country (and potentially the world) has fallen. Only now, I've dismantled Seed's Noah project. You can see, as you go through the bunkers, that these were clearly mean to be self sustaining. There is equipment for sustainable power, food, air, etc... This was meant to outlast the Collapse, and you destroyed it.

So in the end, the only things left in Hope County at the end are you and Joseph sitting in a bunker with no nearly enough supplies to even outlast the fallout. Having played as a woman deputy too, it also puts a weird Adam and Eve vibe in the game.

Presumably, everyone else is dead. And that's the GOOD ending, apparently.

Sidenote, Why is Korea dropping that many nukes on MONTANA? Hit Washington and California first guys. Three bombs within Hope County seems like overkill.

The other (non-start) ending talk (Bad End):

Spoiler:

Well, you get back in the car with the other cops and decide to get the National Guard. Why no one was dispatched to do that earlier is still... confusing, but fine plot holes gotta hole so what're you gonna do?

Sheriff puts on the Radio, and what comes on but Only Youuuuuuuuuuu... vision goes red... hard cut to black. Presumably they all die, no one else is going to get help and the bombs are still on their way... seeing as how there's earlier radio references to issues with North Korea escalating. But, Seed has his new flock who will quickly realize he was right all along... and... what then? Seed is never shown with his own bunker... but that doesn't mean he didn't have one we just never sniffed out.

Secret (shhhhhh) ending:

Spoiler:

I mean, really all that happens here is that Eden's Gate survives. Someone gets out of the Collapse and they can rebuild. I mean, they're doing so from the place of a theocratic horror show.

Kind of disappointed with it none the less, though. Expected it to involve the rookie joining up with Eden's Gate (like joining Pagan Min) or already being an adherent and killing the Marshall.

Ending...

Spoiler:

Bloody hell that's some dark sh*t!

Same ending for me, but..

Spoiler:

What makes you think KR? I thought it was a fail safe plan done by Joseph since it punctuated his monologue.

Actually is mentioned on the radio at some point, apparently, from what I read... and is a continuation of that conflict that's referenced in the background of 3 and 4 as well, apparently.

Sally Wolf is the best companion. That is all.

Does this imply that...

Spoiler:

Far Cry 6 will also be Fallout 5?

Peaches for me, so stealthy and so mean!

Already seen several savage digs at Trump in this game. Keep them coming.

Bought the season pass, which I almost never do, but hell this game is worth it.

Is there a release schedule for the DLC yet?

I don’t think so. Live events (?) start this week.

Oh wow the Haunted Barn! The Prepper's Stashes (and some of the notable character side missions) have definitely been some of my favorite parts of the game so far.

I also fell of a cliff running away from an enraged turkey, so that was pretty great as well.

Loooooved that haunted barn. Wasn't sure what to expect when I got in there, but it wasn't that. So good.

So where exactly do I find the fishing rods? I'm about 4 or 5 hours in, but I've not actually found a rod yet. I assumed that I'd be given one on the starting island, and the first vendor I came across intimated that he had rods and lures for sale, but he didn't. What obvious thing am I missing?

Usually find one just sitting around at the little jetties? Starter one at least

Thanks, Goo. I'll look more closely at the jetties.

I've just wandered up-thread and seen mention of difficulty settings. This appears to be another thing that I missed. I just dived straight into the game, so I assume I'm playing on Normal. Which feels like the right difficulty for me. I've failed several missions several times. Most notably Exodus, a rescue-the-hostages mission.

One more question: is it possible to 'open' the map using a helicopter. I've got access to one, and it's only just occurred to me that a quick fly-over might be one way to uncover more of the map.

Based on that GIF, have you tried checking in some cougar stomachs?

Not a chance! The wildlife in this game is ludicrously over-powered! Have you seen how many shots are required to take out pitbulls and bears?

While I'm playing on Hard, I'd recommend playing on Normal or even Easy. Hard is definitely harder but also more annoying - any glitch in the cover mechanics or in executing a takedown means you're dead.

Fishing rods can be purchased from any non-vehicle merchant but they are a somewhat hidden- they are in the right-most tab of the weapons section, waaaaay at the bottom of the list, below the machine guns and the bows and all the weapons that haven’t been unlocked yet.

There's also fishing rods given out as rewards for specific quests.

Really enjoying this game. It’s a lot of fun getting on for 30 min and blowing crap up.

The game could use more enemy variety. They all look the same to me.

Ten Things I Discovered Through Attempting to Help and/or Kill Michael Zenke:

1. The melee weapon dash attack. Press and hold the primary fire button with a melee. You will change stances. Release and your character dashes forward in a swing.

2. Tow trucks can actually transport other vehicles. Drop the ramp and load them up!

3. Mike is bad at understanding symbology. Let’s just say, we’ve gotten really good at disposing of civilian casualities in shallow, road-side graves.

4. Can you shoot an RPG at your partner as your partner is rappelling? Yes. Should you shoot an RPG at your partner as your partner is rappelling, Michael? No. No, you should not.

5. Montana bison and Montana wolverines live in a vicious symbiotic relationship and often compete for the same territory regardless of where you find them.

6. Bears, often, are brown. Their browness is particularly accentuated when they suddenly jump up in front of you as you are in a zoomed in overwatch position and fills your whole scope’s aperture.

7. As a follow up to (6), bears will chase you a very long way.

8. As a follow up to (7), civilians have many, many uses.

9. The car horn honking in this game is incredibly detailed and life-like.

10. Punching quest NPCs in the back of the head never gets old. NEVER.

Shot the guy who keeps going on about multiplayer. Town folks killed me. Still worth it.

I just discovered the boosts too!

Can you play on after the main story is over?

I'm getting so irritated with being forcibly dragged back into another cutscene that I'm tempted to rush through the story so as to be able to explore and do side missions in peace.

Typically, after a FC game is released, how long until it goes on sale? I want this game but not $60 want this game.

I think Wildlands dropped at about 45 days?

Yes, you can.
