That looks like a cross between Goodnight Moon and the Twin Peaks Red Room. Yikes!
Based entirely on previous guesses and the Wheel of Fortune-style clue, I'm going to guess "In My Shadow".
(I don't even know if there is a game with that title, but it would seem to fit.)
It's not a great game, but it's an entertaining enough puzzler to also catch the interest of my oldest for at least an hour. Controls are a bit too sensitive though.

It is indeed Microcosm! It had a very cool premise but the execution was bad and it was just a very basic (and incredibly difficult) rail shooter. Innerspace The Game it was not.
