Yeah, you're thinking about Alanna regarding Rand. That did not go well for her at all.
Neither did Queen Tylin's treatment of Mat, iirc.
Tylin's consequence was more because of the way she had to let him go. Everyone in the Palace knew of her treatment of Matt, approved, and helped her carry it out. But Alanna was ostracized a small bit because of the forced bonding. Not enough to really be meaningful. In the same vein they had no issues with passing the bond between people. Cadsuane even contemplated making the girl give it to her. Even if a warder was bonded voluntarily to someone passing it to someone else without consent to me seemed to be in conflict with their view of forced bonding. While I understand the concept of trying to keep that person alive, it seemed there were more reasons than just that for passing it.
I hope they change up a lot of stuff, honestly. While GoT as a tv show could've gone slower and been just as good, the bloat here is insane so TV's trimming might be the best thing for it!
So many braids gonna get tugged.
Rosamund Pike Cast as Moiraine
The casting news is important because of the series description posted by Production Weekly back in Janaury 2019, which showed that the adaptation would focus on Moiraine as the central characterOkay. Alright. Not bad. I'm very cautiously optimistic.
I'm ok with this. If this had happened 20 years ago, my vote would have been for Marina Sirtis (Star Trek TNG: Deanna Troi).
Casting update. Nice to see this is still moving forward, albeit slowly.
Amazon’s new fantasy series, Wheel of Time, adds four more cast members

I can get behind those choices. Very exciting.
Almost a year since the last bit of news, there is now a sword.

When's this show airing? 2028?!
That sword
gets destroyed.
Maybe this is a personal thing, but shouldn't the heron being on hilt mean that it's NOT on the blade of the sword? So that (several times) it's presence while sheathed is still commented on?
I'm sure that's easily remedied with some minor changes to scripting / blocking. That is a very pretty sword.

They are trying to keep it as close to the books as possible. It shows they really know the source material, in this case the publishing schedule.

Hey! It takes a lot of time to write inventive, creative fantasy stories that aren't just remixed Tolkein-esque word salads.
No idea what Jordan's excuse was though.

Well done
Oooooh, y'all are on FIRE!!!!
So, Moiraine?
It's like... 6 seconds of a teaser. Her physical appearance doesn't really matter to me, I want to see the mannerism, the speech, the interactions. This, though? No comment. ^^
There’s already a season 2!!!!

That must mean season 1 is gonna be great, right? Right?!
Braids gon get tugged
Here they are. Look at that braid!
Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), Matrim Cauthorn (Barney Harris), Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), Egwene al'Vere (Madeleine Madden), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), and Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski)
I mean, that braid really is pretty tuggable.
Trailer must be incoming soon?
Rosamund Pike can act, what's she doing there?
That’s a surprisingly ‘right’ looking cast. Aside from Egwene being blonde in my head (I know she’s not, I just always forget) and Moraine being too tall (isn’t she tiny?), they look really good.
The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose above the great mountainous island of Tremalking. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

I am very happy with the Fade and the Trollocs.
The ajah colors seem a little over the top but I kinda get that for the non-book readers.
I'm hopeful that they will focus on Egwene and the others more than just RandRandRand, it seems like they might. And I like that they have aged up the five. Definitely gives a more fantasy vibe than YA, at least for me.
Looks more like The 100 or Merlin than it does GoT. Dammit.
Trailer was FIERCE WOMEN, which means I'm gonna hear griping from my family full of Boomers.
This has to be better than the Shannara adaptation, right?
Fine! Better than the Sword of Truth adaptation then, right?!
Not a high bar.
