Best 3DS games?

So, I got a good deal on a 3DS on eBay. What are the best games on the platform? I have some open bids on
eBay on the following because they were listed as the best games on 3ds on Metacritic:
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Fire Emblem: Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Bravely Default

What do y'all like? What should I get? Where is the cheapest place to get 3ds games?

Monster Hunter Generations
Shovel Knight
Super Mario Land 3D
Steamworld Dig
Shantae: Risky's Revenge

That is a great list that will keep you happy for roughly 100+ hours.

I would also pick up Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team because the Mario brothers are great.

As for where - Amazon or local store.

Monster Hunter Generations

For multiplayer, definitely, but I'd still recommend MH4U first for people playing primarily single player, especially now that Generations isn't fresh and being actively discussed. 4U actually has some semblance of a story and much sharper writing.

Other great games not yet mentioned:
Pokemon Sun/Moon
Steamworld Heist
Pushmo
Super Smash Bros
and if you have a lot of spare time, Xenoblade Chronicles

Rune Factory 4.

Dragon Quest 7 and 8 are both really great ports of the games. And if you've never played them you can't go wrong.

Fantasy Life is a lot of fun and i know some people didn't love the writing but I thought it was pretty cute and charming.

Pocket Card Jockey is a lot of fun and an interesting twist on solitaire.

Etrian odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is a really cool cartography/dungeon crawling game.

Oh yeah, I loved Fantasy Life. 2nd this recommendation.

I'm sure you're totally right, but I like that it's a greatest hits compilation and the story for these games always seemed like a needless complication. I just play it, still, to kill big monsters.

If you're after a bit of pick up and play fun... Rhythm Heaven Megamix is great.

Shin Megami Tensei IV is a really good starting point for that franchise if you haven't tried one yet.

Mario Kart 7 is still really good and is a vital step towards the excellence that is Mario Kart 8.

Great game (I put more than 100 hours on it on the Wii) , but only playable on a New 3DS.

I would add Crimson Shroud to what has been already mentioned, especially if you like table top RPGs. I don't, and I had an amazing time with it.

Bravely Second is better than the first game.

Kid Icarus Uprising is an amazing experience.

Code Name Steam is a great tactics game.

Fairune is a fun, inexpensive downloadable game.

I'll second Shin Megami Tensei IV. It's my favorite game on the system.

Excellent, thank you everyone! I really appreciate y'all taking the time to make some suggestions!

Fire Emblem Awakening is my favourite game on the 3DS, even more so than Fates.

Closely followed by Link Between Worlds, would say them two are worth the price of admission alone.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf. And I concur that MH4U is better than MHG for new comers. The story is so so but writing is pretty funny. It's also more cohesive as a game. Best games on the platform both of them of course.

Late to the party, but here goes:

Retail/eShop:
* Etrian Odyssey 4 - really solid entry in the series
* MH4U - good place to start with Monster Hunter. I found the dialog super entertaining. Generations is fun too.
* SMT4 - pretty accessible SMT entry. The soundtrack is amazing. Pro tip: save after every battle for the first two hours or so; after that the difficulty evens out a lot.
* Zelda: Link Between Worlds - as a Link to the Past kid I was skeptical but really enjoyed it

eShop only:
* Attack of the Friday Monsters - perhaps the most charming three hours that can be had on the 3DS
* Fairune - puzzly bump-and-win RPG
* Gunman Clive1 & 2 - awesome Mega Man action
* Picross 3D: Round 2 - break those 3d blocks!
* Picross e series - delicious picross. Go with a later installment to get a taste of super-yummy Mega Picross
* Pushmo - this was the game that sold me on the 3DS. Excellent spatial puzzler with lots of charm. Crashmo is pretty good to. Stretchmo is also probably good stuff but I haven't played that one
* Quell Memento - intriguing sliding pebble puzzles; I think this one's more solid than Quell Reflect
* Steamworld Dig and Heist - both are top notch in gameplay and art direction. Dig is super-dangerous for me because I won't stop once I start
* VVVVVV - brilliant platformer; quite challenging but very generous with checkpoints. Another amazing soundtrack

What, we aren't responding in the form of a ranking list? This is GWJ, right?
