2017 MLB Season Thread

Game 7! I have enjoyed watching this crazy series, but am also looking forward to having my evenings back :)

I hear you. The last two travel days have also been Houston Dynamo playoff games, so I haven't had a free night in over a week.

Gotta score more than one run tonight. Who would have thought the best offense in baseball would lose multiple WS games by only scoring one?

GO ASTROS!

Rough 1st for the Trolley Dodgers

Hell of a start

This series just keeps adding to the record book. Congrats on hitting the most batters McCullers.

EDIT: McCullers out so the record won't be added to.

So Turner was hit twice. I wonder if that's the most times a batter has been hit in a WS game.

Not much drama tonight, but a hell of a series. Congrats, Houston.

The Dodgers must really hate the color orange now.

So there's what? About 104 days until spring training?

...The Houston Strong, Commish? Is this the new "technology and stuff?"

Put her on the spot, why don't you?

As an Aggie, I generally shun the color orange, but during his second inning I committed to buying one in orange with Morton's name on it if we pulled it out. Awesome that he went all the way!

Last night I took my kids trick or treating in the rain through our flood-ravaged neighborhood. Most houses were dark. Many that weren't were torn down to the studs on the first floor (like our own), but were participating anyway. Tons of Astros gear in the streets. I'm so happy for my city. It's a great place.

Btw, TheWalt was one of those watching the game at Minute Maid Park tonight. I'm sure that's a memory for a lifetime!

Aha! My plan of never watching Astros games to ensure their victory worked! I swear every time I've watched them in a playoff game they've lost. Like, since they played the Mets back in, what, '86? All those times vs. the Cards and the Braves, and back when they got swept by the White Sox. This time? I didn't watch a single game. You're welcome, Houston.

Seriously, though, I'm almost tempted to start watching baseball again next season.

Was going to be so easy for me to simply enjoy the Schadenfreude of rooting against the Dodgers then Yuli Gurriel had to be an idiot which basically made the WS almost unwatchable, as all I wanted was for both teams to lose. Sadly, only one did.

Roy Halladay was killed in a single-person plane crash.

This stings like hell. He was the pitcher of a my teenage years. Absolutely dominant and the only real bright spot as a Blue Jays fan. Great guy and community member.

Worst news ever.

NOhtani in NY? Eh, oh well. I'm still super-excited to see him play, and hope he can be a two-way star.

I’m thrilled he didn’t choose an AL East team. Odds are will sign with the Mariners since they fit all of his requirements.

If the Giants somehow get both Stanton and Ohtani, I won't post ever again in an MLB thread on this forum for fear of the eggs and tomatoes.

The package the Marlins are expecting for Stanton is enormous. Even for a player of his caliber in a smaller ballpark, I'm not sure he's worth giving up so much for.

I think the package the Marlins expect is dependent on the money they swallow. From what I've read, they are more concerned with shedding salary than maximizing the prospect return.

While disappointed that Ohtani signed with the Angels, I wasn't this disappointed.

It should be interesting to see what the Angels do with Ohtani. I don’t know if they’ll let him pitch or not. Having Trout, Pujols and others should actually help Ohtani grow as a player.

Stanton to the Giants will be odd. Who will e dealt for him? Prospects maybe, since Jeter is looking ugly and bring the salary down. Dodgers would be odd as well. I’m curious to see where he lands, and what the deal is.

It's pretty much how I felt today when I realized that Stanton had ruled St. Louis out after the Cards were willing to make the deal Florida wanted.

Ohtani is a far better pitcher than hitter. He’ll be there #1 with occasional DH and 1B starts. This issue has never been whether he can pitch but what his usefulness as a hitter is.

Hmm. Interesting. I was hearing it the opposite way, but I’m less a follower of NPB.

Also: looks like Stanton to the Yankees. Nothing finalized though. He used his no-trade to block going to the Giants.

Looks like the Rays have finally used up my goodwill. The damn ahole ownership group traded Longoria to the Giants. Dude wanted to retire a Ray, signed 2 team friendly contracts has been the face of the franchise and did everything for the team. This makes it hard for me to give a damn if the team gets sold and moves out of state right now.

Condolences. That's never fun.
