Destiny 2 Catch-All

PC all the way

Cayde's voice is Nathan Fillion correct?

Nathan Fillion doing his best Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, yes.

I did not start playing the first game until the Taken King expansion came out and never got into any of the GWJ groups but would be interested in joining in for the second game. I am one of those that vastly prefer K/M for FPS games, but if there is a solid group that is going to be on the PS4 I will probably pick it up there for the higher chance of getting to group with you all.

All of this applies to me too. I'm glad to hear there was more community playing together than I'd realized!

Didn't Destiny launch well before the Deadpool movie?

And isn't Deadpool a ripoff of Spider-Man with Wolverine's healing factor on overdrive?

That's just Fillion doing Fillion. The only difference in any of his characters is just the degree of charmingly roguish snark.

Watched it again. Great trailer, can't wait. I wonder if they'll do matchmaking for raids, never got to do any in the first game due to my regular crew being only three strong.

I'm probably in on the PC.

I'm still thinking about XBone. Running Kings Fall with GWJers was my best community experience so far. Too bad we never got an Abu raid going for WotM.

Yeah, that stunk. I never did do that raid, at all. Never finished King's Fall either.

Biggest make-or-break for me on Destiny 2 is whether or not they come to their senses and have different weapon stats for PvP and PvE. Was absolutely ridiculous that they never admitted their mistake there.

I'd also ask for no sniper rifles in PvP, but this being Bungie, that's sure as hell not in the cards.

I think that is such a core piece of what Destiny is that it won't be going away. I also don't think it would solve their clubfisted attempts to balance PvP.

After hearing about Destiny for years, and seeing my PS4 owning-friends dive in on this in the last year - the news that this is coming to PC has me pretty intruiged.

I'm pretty sure I'll be giving this a go on PC. Most of my friends seem to be ready to make the jump to PC as well.

Here's hoping it all pans out.

The timed content last time around was just a few exotic weapons (of which there are plenty) and maybe a pvp map? I wouldn't let it scare you off your platform of choice. If you didn't know from the interweb that those weapons were available on another platform, you'd never miss them at all.

There were exclusive strikes on the PS4 as well.

I'm stoked for Destiny 2, the gunplay of the first one was brilliant & the deft touch of the aim assistance made you feel like a bad ass. The 3 different jump boosts felt great & if they push the platforming & exploration aspect of Destiny 2 it could have some amazing discoveries behind tough platforming sections that are hidden away in the levels.

I'd love for Destiny 2 to be more open & not have a base to go back to after every mission, like different vendors that live in settlements that are only attainable by going through tough areas or a caravan that only shows up at specific locations at select times.

The world needs to be more fleshed out & populated with people & interesting characters, like borderlands style forts that survivors are holed up in. All of this with cool little stories that can be found outside of major cities/settlements that you come across by exploration.

I want so much from this game! Hurry up with the gameplay reveal!

Would it be of any benefit to hitup my local Family Video and rent Destiny: The Fallen King to familiarize myself with gameplay/lore in advance of Destiny 2 coming out?

You have aim assist for some/most of the powers in Mass Effect. It is more like a soft homing projectile
It absolutely allows for even more athletic moves when combined with the jump pack. And then it is even more satisfactory to use these tactics with teammates and comboing the powers.
So aim assist doesn't have to scare me much on the PC. Everybody using snipers on the other hand...
But I am definitely not playing PVP on this.

We don't really know yet, it won't be until at least May 18th that we will know how much D2 resembles D1 in terms of gameplay and mechanics. I assume some stuff will stick around, like the names of the classes, but I don't see a LOT of stuff changing, mostly of which we won't know until release.

I have 0% confidence in Bungie's ability to balance sniper rifles and shotguns not just between PvE and PvP but also console and PC

I was one of those that always thought Destiny 1 would be on PC. I don't have a PS4 or xbone, so going PC sounds normal. If it's anything close to a borderlands type of loot and gun, it might win me over.

This is true. I'm on XB1, and it really didn't matter much.

I'm assuming Destiny 2 will be more of the same with tweaked graphics and more microtransactions. I am guessing if they use shaders, the best ones will be premium. They embraced micros more and more as the years went on, and this is a chance for them to stop giving away the best cosmetic stuff for free. I'm sure this change is what the money folks are most excited about. Do note that this is my prediction, nothing that's been announced.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay way way way way better gameplay than Borderlands.

A looooooooooooooooooooooooooooot less loot.

Nice about the gameplay part.

I loved the way they give you ridiculous guns in Borderlands. Is there randomly unique items/guns in Destiny? Or it's only one type of guns per area type of loot?

Yes, both huuuuuge points in its favor. In fact, one of the reasons I played Destiny as long as I did was because it made me care about my equipment (or more specifically, my guns) more than any other game I've ever played.

Mida Multitool, Suros Regime, Fatebringer, Hawkmoon, Gjallarhorn, Invective, Super Good Advice, Ice Breaker, Bad Juju, and so on... these guns have more character than any of the Destiny NPCs.

Contrary to Borderlands' randomized loot system, nearly all of the exotic weapons in Destiny look and feel hand-crafted and suited to very specific purposes. Every single exotic weapon in Destiny has a perk that is not shared by any other weapon in the game. Not all of these perks are good, but all are unique.

The only reason I'm just a slight bit upset that none of my loot will be carried over from the first game is because I feel more connected to it than anything else about the game. I sincerely hope they continue their quality over quantity mentality towards weaponry, at least when it comes to the top end loot.

I am pumped. Believe will stay PS4 even though PC intrigues me. I really don't want to deal with snipers in pvp with mouse/keyboard in destiny type pvp. Also doubt we could get our entire group to move over.

I'm torn on this one.

On the one hand, I remember how darned satisfying the gunplay in Destiny was, and how great it felt to unleash one's superpowers. On the other hand, I remember the utter lack of story, the fact that I never got to participate in a single raid, and the week spent grinding for the one final Rare Coin.

I think I need more reassurance about:

the overarching story and my character's part in it;
proper matchmaking;
either a more generous RNG or a greater variety of missions and side missions.

Fooled me once, shame on you... and all that.

I feel you. I never got to do a raid either. I feel bummed out on that front. But I also played the damn game so much that I know I got my money's worth.

I'm sure there are PS4 Goodjers who would be very happy to help you guys get into a raid, even now. 3/4ths of the raids are some of the best content Destiny has to offer!

Did you only play Vanilla? The week spent grinign for one final rare coin makes it sound like that. Do note Destiny year 1 was far behind/worse than after Destiny The Taken King. They constantly made small changes over year 1 and then once Taking king hit had some massive changes.

Still had RNG but many exotics had set quests. You could easily get Legendary max gear. You no longer had to raid to reach max gear. Then when rise of iron came out again leveling became even easier.

Most of the arguments you made other than story were fixed in Destiny 1 life span.

I think Borderlands has better single player game play. I happen to like the random loot model. It's just different. There's less loot in destiny, and some of it is random, but the really good stuff is going to be exotic or have preset stats (purples from raid bosses, etc). They're different types of games. The shooting is tighter in Destiny. I like both games for what they are.

Without wishing to derail, yes I did play v1.0. I played from launch until just before the first DLC was released and then quit and never returned. There were/are too many good games and too little playing time to give more than 3 months to an unsatisfactory multiplayer-only game.

Also, the story never did improve and they never did change the matchmaking.

It'll be interesting to see what the legacy of Destiny 1 will be.

All of the story improvements came with the expansion, specifically Taken King and Rise of Iron. Maybe instead of getting Destiny 2 you could find the expansions on the cheap and see if you like what they're putting down? If you do and if they continue those stories in Destiny 2 then jump back in later?

That's what I would do at least.
