Destiny 2 Catch-All

Destiny 2 is now free to play, and with the launch of Shadowkeep has begun a third year as a vibrant, exciting FPS/MMORPG hybrid. While the game still lacks proper cross-platform play, over the summer a cross-save feature was added, allowing players to choose a primary account to use across all platforms where they want to play.

For more info about free-to-play Destiny 2, how expansions and seasons now work, and for a rundown of the content now available from the first two years of Destiny 2, please refer to zeroKFE’s FAQ in this post.

Though this thread can be a bit quiet at times, there is an active community of GWJ players across all three platforms, which has grown even more healthy and interconnected with the recent launch of cross-save support.

There are currently two Destiny 2 Clans, which can be joined by submitting a request via these links:
Xbox/PC
PS4

However, the best way to get involved with the GWJ community playing Destiny 2 is to join the dedicated GWJ Destiny 2 Discord server, “Guardians With Jobs”:
https://discord.gg/ucQMyss

Aside from being the main place where GWJ folks meet and chat about the game, the server also features a FAQ channel, bot tools for organizing raids, and other group play. Included are platform-specific ranks to join that will allow you to easily communicate and coordinate with other players on your platform of choice.

Let's goooooo!

Seriously though. I'm pretty fired up for this. I like Cayde a lot and hope he continues to be featured. It appears he will be.

I'm trying to keep my anticipation in check until we see a real trailer and confirmation that they've fixed a majority of the main issues from Destiny 1, but who am I kidding?

They'd have to screw up something royally for me to not get this Day 1.

I am pretty sure I have no choice because of both friends and my father. Not that even with that I wouldn't buy it day 1.

I'm really enjoying my parole from Destiny, but realistically I'll be right back on the juice once it's available.

#mixingmetaphors

I am a bit concerned about the larger than normal volume of games I'm interested in releasing this fall. Red Dead could singlehandedly kill (cure?) my Destiny devotion if it ships on time and is good. Shadow of Mordor 2 looks amazing, although I didn't play the first one. Mario Odyssey. Doubtless there are more.

Despite my unpopular opinion regarding narrative, I'm down.

Because really it's all about that delicious Bungie shooting mechanics.

This might honestly be one of the few games that I buy for the XB1 if there's a PC alternative. My buddies are on the XB1 and are too cheap to go the PC route.

Anyway looking forward to putting another 300+ hours into this world.

A rare relic of the golden age.

I am very excited for this game. Even the general disappointment that Vanilla Destiny was won't dampen my spirits, surely they can't screw it up like that two times in a row.

The internet tells me I have played 532 hours of Destiny, and in that time is probably at least half of my favorite gaming moments ever, I can't wait to see what they will be doing next, and as cceserano says, you can absolutely count on great shooty shoot mechanics from Bungie regardless of what they wrap around it.

As long as I don't have to go back to the tower after every half mission I'll be happy

Also no grinding for materials please

Prepare to be disappointed on the second front at least.

SO, confirmed on PC yet or no?

Only rumors so far, I believe? Destiny on PC would be nice though, especially now that it hopefully is finally out of beta.

I feel like they completely fixed the materials economy way back in House of Wolves when you could start buying them from a vendor.

Yeah I can't say for sure since I had hundreds of each at that point, but even in Taken King your ghost literally points to where each thing is if you have the right one equipped or you could get double instead and they were pretty simple to find once you figured out the spawn patterns.

That being said, if they keep leaning into the MMO-ness of it all I think you'll probably see more of that instead of less.

I wouldn't mind a utility ghost that I can send to go harvest stuff. Between that and opening locked doors, they're pretty useful.

Well, they are definitely leaning into the humor.

Also, apparently gameplay premiere will be in May.

Tons of Loot!!!

Apparently a $250 special edition includes a backpack and solar powered USB battery, along other things.

Apparently double posting happens.

Are people here going to shift from console to PC?

Xbone forever.

I'd like to, but probably not. I'm guessing most of the people I play with are sticking with PS4, so I will too.

Plus, it has been confirmed that there is going to be timed PS4 exclusive content for a full year after release once again, so that's a little extra incentive to stay.

Confirmed for PC. Shit, I may have to play this one now.

Obviously sticking with PS4 because even if I get my new graphics card installed in time PS4 + Couch = better comfort.

Without a next gen console or a desire to play a shooter with a controller, I totally missed the first one. Now I have a next gen console, but still no desire to play a shooter with a controller, so I might pick it up on PC.

Wait, you can aim when sitting on your couch? When i'm playing try-hard mode, I have to set up a stool. Serious ready position.

Eh, when they're tuned as finely as they are with Destiny, you adapt quickly. Destiny controls perfectly on a controller.

Dangit Chris now that you mentioned the deadpool comparison it's in the back of my mind and so now that's all I see and hear out of Cayde.

That said, I'm so pumped. I'm totally starting my characters over unless they do some sort of incentive to use the existing ones.

I HOPE Xbox does some sort of crossplay stuff like with Gears 4 and Forza Horizon 3. Cause if so I'll buy it on PC. Otherwise it'll be XB1. IF my save would be universal across the platforms I'd play by myself on PC and then with friends on XB1. But that probably won't be a thing.

Improved version of Cayde's trailer can be found here: Cayde goes, "PEW!"

Someone on Reddit edited the whole thing to replace the gunfire sound effects with Cayde yelling "PEW!!!" It's freaking hilarious.

For some people it just doesn't work, I'm one of them. I have played the occasional shooter on a controller and hated it every time. It feels like I'm fighting the input method non-stop instead of engaging with the game. I'm very aware that there are players that can aim perfectly fine on a pad, but by now I've accepted that I most probably won't ever be one of them.
