So how are you guys speccing your murder trains? I've got mine to level 9 and maxed out charge and going down the increase melee damage path, plus rage. Good idea?

That's the way to do it. You want to get bonus melee damage from charging, get 100% shields back, and be in rage mode all the time. Be sure to take Fortification too. The speed reduction doesn't hurt you and they dropped the power recharge penalty.

Cool. I'll keep that going then. With the Rage tree, I'm thinking:

4: Melee
5: Martial Arts
6: Beserker

But then that's very melee focussed and could be bad on the higher difficulties if I don't get some more shields. Or will Fortify be enough to cover that?

So bored of buying basic packs over and over. But it's the only way that makes sense.

Just another annoyance of them having separate male/female human of each starting class, so that you have to get rank 10 of both before you can get to the good stuff. It's really insane that they don't share ranks since they use exactly the same skills.

Is anyone else getting constant errors where the servers are offline?

Me too!

Yeah, servers appear to be having issues today. I can't log in on PS4 or apex android app.

I've been trying to find some kind of ea or bioware status page with no luck. If I find one I'll add it to the OP.

@eahelp says they're looking into it. https://twitter.com/eahelp/status/84...

Just got dropped at the end of wave 6 with one more enemy to kill... GRRRRR

I played a bunch of matches between 11am-1pm eastern without issue on PC. Hm.

I'd like to get through say, three consecutive matches without a crash to desktop. Game doesn't want me to have that though.

Yea I didn't. I went big and got the 100k pack and buying the 20k. I get more useful stuff out of those. The 5k packs were mostly consumables.

Having ctd problems and also teams that just will kick me as soon as I spawn in cause I'm not level 9. And yes I'm playing bronze. Not sure if I'm having bad luck or I've missed the multiplayer boat already.

OMG Krogan Vanguard is back.

Finally drew him tonight and then took him into bronze with some pubs level 5-7 and got 1st place at level 1.

Whee, melee murdertrain.

I have jumped into a match in progress and certainly held up my end on the teamwork only to get "the host has disconnected" before the next match which I assume means I was kicked.
I have also not been able to get a match with my adept. As soon as I join, one by one the others leave the matchmaking.
So, yes, there is a lot of matchmaking BS going on.
Overall though, the experience has been good. Aside from people that revive as a last resort. (do you really think you can handle those mech bastards with just 3?)

Yeah, the two things that really bug me are 1) people not reviving when you are right there, and there is cover or no enemies around, and 2) not using RPGs. I had a silver match today where one round went south. I'm pretty sure because a couple people were ignoring objectives. Everyone was down except one guy, a vanguard, trying to solo a destroyer. He could have ended the round with a single RPG to a weak spot, but nooo, we got to watch him run around like a maniac. Of course, after about 5 minutes of that, the guy died and failed the mission on our behalf.

Oh, and 3) people completely ignoring objectives. Three things.

People ignoring objectives is probably my number one complaint. They don't like money or something?

Also, I'm pretty sure my boss is now worried about me. I was browsing reddit and had "Best weapons to use" and "Murdertrain" in the tab headings when he came over to look at some spreadsheet. Thanks a lot mass effect.

Yeah lots of people not doing objectives last night. And more than half the time it's someone with a sniper rifle.

Need to get some goodjer games going this week on PC. I'm tired of pubbies already.

Okay so Asari Sentinel and/or backlash is AWESOME!
Backlash eats up the big guys:
It sends the big wind up machine gunner's spray right back to them.
The floating Magneto style guys will get ripped apart by their own slow orb.
The turrets will chew themselves apart.
And the mech's rockets get reflected right back to them

The only thing where it works but is much less effective is the cloaking shotgun guy. The rate of fire is so low that it is quicker to just shoot them. In that case it can be used defensively while your team mates destroy them.

As a low-skill, death-prone player, I started to develop the sense that I would be more useful taking out enemies away from the objectives than being trapped in the murder zone itself.

As vanguard, I kind of find myself in this position as well, at least on low difficulties. You're more effective attacking the flanks than trying to hold a point but constantly charging out of it and then running back.

Depends on the objective. The click e to activate devices, only one person can do it and it's good to cover them.

The other hack and connection objectives, the more people in the area the faster the objective completes. And enemies don't stop spawning until the objective is done.

So you're really wasting time by doing anything except being in the zone.

And also you generally don't want to waste RPGs on the big enemies until the objective is done because another will just respawn.

Exception there if the boss is right on top of the objective and in danger of getting one shot killed.

Yeah, she's become my highest level character. Backlash is just so useful in any number of configurations. Sometimes it means I don't have as high as score, but if I'm protecting teammates, or distracting an Ascendant, so be it.

Huh. I tried it once but wasn't sure what I was doing. Guess it's worth reexamining.

Gotta hold the button.

Alternately, there is a setting to make those powers activate/deactivate on pressing (forget exactly where it is). It's what I've been doing, as otherwise I'd need to remap the power or the movement keys I have.

Agreed. Backlash is awesome. I'm liking Asari Sentinel more the more I use it. My highest character is now a level 20 Asari Adept, with max level throw and annihilation, and with max bonuses on biotic explosions. So, now I can say from personal experience, detonations are sh*t in MEA. I don't know whether that's intentional or not, but on Silver, a maxed out (including power consumable) biotic explosion takes out half or maybe a bit more of a Silver level Outlaw goon's health.

On the other hand, a level 1 Widow can take out a Silver Outlaw goon in one shot.

That... is pathetic. Until that is fixed, I'm going to be picking classes and focusing on characters that rely more on weapons, because powers are just a complete waste of time.

Boo, that doesn't make me happy. I assume you also have the appropriate passives specced out?

I really need to get in and play a bit more. Other than the couple hours I played during the trial, I've just been so into the single player that it's what I end up playing when I actually have time to turn the game on. Perhaps this weekend though -- my wife is going out of town, which sucks, but it does mean that I'll have fewer reasons to not just veg out and play games.

Biotic explosions were completely overpowered in ME3, though. The damage scaled according to difficulty(and level of the primer/detonator), rather than a just a set amount of damage. And the scaling was pretty crazy, so Platinum explosions were doing something like 4 times the damage of Bronze for the same character.

It looks like the early balance concerns are that most powers, most combos, and most weapons don't do much damage to even mook level enemies. The problem with weaker combos is that they are also slower because cooldowns are longer.

People seem to have fixated on the vanquisher as the top weapon at the moment and a few other snipers as decent.

Melee on the other hand seems to have been dramatically buffed which is a double bonus for vanguards as they have the Charge to close the gap quickly. Melee also has no cooldown and executes faster than it used to (tap melee now instead of holding for heavy melee in ME3).

I miss the melee cover grab. But the mobile play style is a lot more fun.

So much this!

Egad. I haven't had such a sucky experience with a game in years.

There's a tutorial... that the game doesn't point you at. The tutorial first level is mickey mouse; the second is apparently unbeatable (at least with the random character I chose.. Engineer is not survivable? In six playthroughs, my best record is 3 kills. Wraiths keep wearing me down, and if I run I'm exposed to weaponfire.)

Before I found the tutorial, I hit the 'quick match' function, trying to see. First game I hear random snippets of voice text. Try and die instantly. Second game, in the launcher, I clearly hear "can we boot the level 1?" and I'm on my own.

The game is user-hostile. I'm ready to rage-deinstall right now...
