News and discussion of the US regular military intervention in Syria.
Marines are reported to have been deployed to northern Syria, with artillery attached. Looks like they will provide (at least) 155mm howitzer support for the assault on Raqqa. Elements of BLT 1st of the 4th. They will work with conventional Army soldiers supporting SOF with HIMARS systems. Also, last weekend, the 75th Ranger Regiment showed up in Manbij in Strykers, apparently to keep the Syrians and Turks from getting ideas. It's asserted that this is a plan that started in the Obama administration, and it mirrors a previous deployment during the early part of the assault on Mosul last year.
