Although there is a thread called "Moving to Raleigh" that has some GWJ from NC, I thought the title was a little confusing so wanted to create a thread specifically for North Carolinian Meet-ups and what not.
So, I’ve got a pre-order Swtich and I’m hosting a GWJ Switch Launch party in Greensboro, NC. The festivities will begin one week from today Sunday, March 5th are around 1:00 PM at my house in Greensboro, NC. I’ve got a fairly large back yard, we’ve got a decent chance of good weather.
We’ll be taking turns playing my Switch of course, but when the Switch is occupied maybe we can play some old-school rounds of GoldenEye or Smash Bros or I've got a large board game collection too.
Or you know talk to each other. We can do that too.
Weather permitting we could also do some Frisbee golf in the back yard if anyone wants it.
What I’d like people to bring: Anyone who is also pre-ordering a Switch, we’d love to have more than one! Or any other fun new toy you are looking to share.
Also, if people feel like it they can bring some artistinal pizza and/or craft beer. I’ll be making some sous-vide chicken, and if you haven’t had sous-vide chicken before you’ll be amazed at it. A guy in another thread made a joke about the Switch commercial looking like everyone there would only eat artisinal pizza, craft beer, and sous vide chicken at their parties so I am literalizing the joke! For real, that sounds like an awesome menu so I'm going to make it happen.
This will be a family event (I have a 4 and a 6 year old) so kids welcome .
If you think you can come please respond to this post and I’ll message you with details and what not.
Sous Vide Chicken!
Artisinal Pizza!
Craft Beers!
And the Nintendo Switch!
Respond now if you want to come and I'll PM you the address!
Well I guess I need to tag in. Always just took over the Raleigh thread for meet ups, but this is more appropriate. Better post a link in that thread to this one to get participation.
Hey-o! Not sure if I'll make the Switch party, but wanted to thank you for the invite.
jrralls , thanks for the invite to the Switch party, but I won't be able to attend. I'll be busy that weekend going to a race at Virginia International Raceway.
I'll be there! Thanks for hosting!
Sadly, I will be out of town that weekend. But I hope you all have fun!
Tagged for future NC fun. Not sure if we can make this weekend.
This will, unfortunately, be an impossible weekend for me.

You're welcome.
Have fun. My Switch is on slow-order from Target. They're calling it pre-order but not shipping out until release day with standard shipping... sigh.
I'll be up at Grandfather mountain for the weekend but thanks!
Hey all,
I'm coming to your neck of the woods March 21st to 25th (Salisbury, NC to be exact) and have NO idea whats around there or what to do after work (work trip, meh). Any Suggestions?
I'm still on the other coast, but have fun everyone!
Man this would be great fun for us, if not 5 hours away. Enjoy!!
Thanks for hosting JR; good times!
Well, Salisbury, NC is halfway between Charollette and Greensboro but isn't really big in and of itself. Will you have a rental car? How much time after work to do stuff?
I'll have a car. I should be done with work by 4:30. Not much to do around town though? Pity. I was hoping it'd be closer to Charlotte or maybe RTP, though if it WAS in RTP I'd have just done it at the Office there.
Ah well.
We're up for hosting again if people are up for it.

Definitely up for Yellek to host
Alrighty, first step then will be to nail down a date. A Saturday preferred unless it happens to be a long weekend like memorial day in which case Sunday is acceptable.
For those who haven't been here, the usual thing is a kind of potluck cookout where we provide the basics (ribs, burgers, condiments) and others bring what they want to share.
We have plenty of space for boardgaming and tv's to use with our PS3 or other consoles (other consoles not provided). Also outdoor space for grilling, s'mores over the fire pit, and space to setup slip n slide and/or badminton nets for any little ones.
Generally we open our doors around noonish and fire up the grill late afternoon.
Anyway, enough rambling. More suggestions on a date that works for people!
Well, I'm in but I'll be no help on setting a date because right now I have all of my summer weekends free.
I always enjoy our get togethers. So I'm in. Saturdays work best for me, are we thinking sometime in May? I can bring boardgames and some food.
I'm in - it's been too long. We'll hopefully have our house ready to host later this year.
What does everyone think about memorial day weekend? Saturday or Sunday?
Not sure if it would conflict with existing travel plans for people or not.
That Saturday is the 27th right?
