The Some Like It HOT TAKES thread

Ooooohhhh!!!! This is feeling like a superhot take, even though it breaks the first rule of a true hot take by starting with "HOT TAKE" like a football player that wears their own jersey out in public.

HOT TAKE: Don't post a HOT TAKE that starts with HOT TAKE anymore. It's lame!

HOT TAKE: The point of the HOT TAKES thread is to mock the idea of HOT TAKES, which is why you loudly exclaim it to be a HOT TAKE! at any opportunity.

It's getting hot in here. Should the thread be renamed the sick burns thread?

Mass Effect (the original) was a masterpiece and the series took a giant sh*t as soon as they made the sequel a crappy shooter with RPG elements. I'm only surprised there's enough fans around to still drum up rage over the newest entry in the dated, boring Star Wars wannabe space opera.

HOT TAKE: RoughneckGeek's HOT TAKES are just my HOT TAKES re-heated in the microwave.

HOT TAKE: Don't buy games on Day 1 of release. Wait a while until the sticker price gets discounted, there's a bunch of patches, and if you're willing to wait that long, all the DLC's there and paid for.

Hot take. US studios should quit remaking TV shows / movies from around the world and totally poopifying them into a bloated steaming pile.

Spoiler:

yep, I'm aware the uk does this too on very rare occasions.

Also quit rebooting classic stuff. When they inevitably try to update Back to the Future, I'm done, boycott Hollywood time.

Hint: if a show is called "America's (something)" or "American (something)" chances are, it didn't start out that way.

HOT TAKE: Whining over remakes is SO yesterday. Don't be part of the group think, have an original thought! If you dream it then maybe one day you can be the change.

Serious Take: Get over it and yourself. The thing you love still exists, you(generalizing) may hate the new ghostbusters but it's not for you. It's for kids like my cousins who didn't know anything about it but now LOVE Ghostbusters and had their parents track down the old cartoons and have gotten a bunch of toys. Now they'll grow up loving that world and can act like the whiners whenever it gets remade again.

Battlestar Galactica says you don't know what the frak you are talking about.

(The Pink Panther, Arthur, and The Bad News Bears cede your point)

Fair enough.

VAGUELY RELATED HOT TAKE:. The new Ghostbusters was genuinely fun and entertaining, and the original isn't nearly as good as everyone seems to insist it is.

HOT TAKE: Headphone jokes are pretty great.

Michael Bay is apparently producing a remake of The Birds. Tell me that's ok and I'll take it all back.

The original already has this scene ready to be Bay-ified:

I thought you meant The Bird Cage for a sec and MAN. That would be a trainwreck that I would gladly watch part of on Netflix before cringing out faster the the speed of light.

I thought this was a profanity free site? You bring that garbage here? I can't unsee that. Where are the velvet ropes, people?

Michael Bay's EXPLOSIVELY flamboyant new remake will leave you breathless!

Michael Bay produces a lot of horror movies and remakes. He was the producer for the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. He was also the producer for The Purge movies and the Ouija movies. I realize that hating on Michael Bay is the cinema equivalent of hating Kevin J. Anderson, but it's not like any of those became walking-away-from-explosions-in-slow-mo movies.

But as always, HOT TAKE: if you don't like remakes, unnecessary sequels, and franchises, then stop seeing them. Stop seeing them "out of morbid curiosity", stop renting them, stop streaming them. Even the ones that are "surprisingly good". Even the ones you think look fun. These movies get made because they make a lot of money. If you don't like them, stop contributing.

My track record on things I like to watch not getting sequels/remakes or getting cancelled early disagrees.

Hey, you can't help having minority tastes. You need all those other buyers along for the ride, too.

Cool birds don't look at explosions.

I was unaware of that, happy to say I haven't seen any of those remakes.

Though I'm not guilt free by any stretch when comes to reboot / remake viewings...

I went to see Magnificent Seven at the cinema. I fell asleep.

I'll be first in line for Spider-man: Homecoming. Because Hot Take... Spidey is the best superhero, end of.
