This game wasn't on my radar until I realized it had co-op. Comes out the same day as For Honor. Is anyone else thinking of getting this?
I keep looking at sniper games but never quite pulling the trigger (pardon the pun). I do like the idea of patience and planning and picking people off one at a time, but have never seen a game get reviews that sell me.
I have two of them but haven't gotten around to playing them.
I've pre-ordered and it's pre-loading for Tuesday's launch. I've played all of the Sniper Elite games, but the only one I finished was the second. Can't remember why I stopped playing 3, but it was pretty good -- much more open than 2. SE4 looks a little like Sniper Elite 3.5, but I'm ok with that. I like the idea of larger levels and sniper guy being able to climb and jump a bit more, which should make some of the levels a little more interesting.

+1.
It's the same with the Hitman series. I like the "idea" of playing them but when it actually comes down to doing it...
There's always something else more appealing on the pile.
Reviews are out for this and they are looking pretty good.
Game will release today at 7pm EST (12am GMT)
I'll be jumping in for a bit here/there. I loved the MP of the last one, but the servers dried up super quick after launch.
I'll buy this if someone can tell me Rebellion ever fixed the game breaking bug that stopped a lot of people from finishing mission 5 in Sniper Elite 3.
I was having a great time with that game until that hit me. I then went through all kinds of histrionics trying to get past it, including restarting the game a grand total of four times and play through the first four missions again each time. Got stopped by the bug every time no matter how I approached mission 5.
The pre-order is 20% off at BundleStars. Steam key.

I am honestly shocked that a game where everyone is a sniper had a weak multiplayer community.

The ones you're thinking of is where they stand back and have targets moving around below them somewhere. Sniper vs Sniper is usually a match of 20 minutes with the top score being 5 kills.
I'm going to get the game eventually. I've just played Sniper Elite 3 and loved it.
Looking forward to playing on harder difficulties and I'd really like to play SE4 co-op.
So in a MP match and have to take a bio. So i go hide in the bushes and go prone. I'm walking back down the hallway when i hear footsteps. I'm thinking great... i'm dead. Sit down at the computer and look and the guy posted up right in front of me and never saw me. I step out of the bushes and pistol shot to the head. I giggled.

That's how it is for me, too. I am drawn in by the concept, I think I'll opt in, only for reviews to come down on the execution. I also forget that Sniper Elite is not Ghost Warrior.
I really enjoy them. I don't always finish the campaign but what i do play i enjoy the hell out of and the AI (Elite and Ghost) are pretty top notch. The multiplayer maps are 20 minutes of maneuvering and aim. Especially when all the help features are turned off.
I've yet seen a match end due to reaching a score limit. It ends due to time limit and not often does the top score hit double digits.
Can you turn off the x ray camera thing in this one?

Yes.

Well i might give it a try tonight then - that bit always rather turned me off
Thanks
Finished the SP campaign and thought it was very well done. I'd like to play the two co-op missions to finish out collecting the letters, eagles, etc. for the award. Hit me up on Steam if you want to do that with me.

I agree. It's nice looking and a reasonably flexible in how you achieve your goals, but I definitely found it repetitive (though I only got to the rail-gun mission before losing interest)
Just finished. About 19 hours on normal difficulty. It was a solid 7/10 type of game at that difficulty. I wasn't really interested in making it a tougher, though some might like playing with no aiming aids etc.
Tip: Throwing rocks as distractions is quite over-powered, but setting traps then throwing rocks is a lot of fun.
One thing I would have liked to have seen was a way to wound soldiers to use them as decoys, the way you could in Far Cry 2. I think I've seen it happen, but I wasn't able to do it on purpose.
I really prefer modern settings and weapons. I'd like to see a Sniper Elite game in a different era. I guess I could just create sniper missions in Arma or something, but a SE game set in Afghanistan might be pretty good, though I realize there's a lot more political baggage to a game like that.

That's the purview of the Sniper Ghost franchise
Playing this on the PS4 and after the first mission, it's a bunch of fun. I like that it doesn't punish you too hard for alerting a guard and then quickly taking him out.
And in other sniping news, I think Ghost Warrior 3 comes out this week which is modern day, open world and set in a former soviet state...
... judging by the others in the series I suspect it will be weak

Out today and from playing the beta i'm excited to dig in. Good gunplay and the AI felt more 'alive' than what is in Elite. Just bummed there's no multiplayer.
Look forward to your feedback then Ranalin as the only kind of 3ps I can handle is a slow sniping one, and I'll need something to play once I'm done with mass effect

I'm sad to say this has now become the second game on Steam i've ever returned.
Some of the issues with keybinds and system settings that was there in beta wasn't fixed.
I kept crashing trying to make it to the first mission.
Even though it was set to save at each checkpoint i had to restart from the very beginning each time.
Voice acting was not good at all.
Makes me sad because the actual gameplay i had in beta was a lot of fun.
Ah, maybe I'll wait for patches and sales then.
Thanks Ranalin

On Mission 3 and I'm still enjoying it. Might not make it to the very end but so far, the missions have been nice and diverse.
This was on sale for Black Friday plus all DLC for £22.49, so I picked it up. I've only played through maybe a quarter of the first mission, but the environments are pretty lush. Looking forward to checking out the multiplayer.
