[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

Why does anyone believe anything they say? How many times do you have to be proven a liar before people finally stop listening to you?

See also: thread hero image.

Right, but then people still report on what they say like it matters... and other people believe them!

I saw this this weekend and tried to do some digging on the feasibility, but realized it really should not be on our indigenous population to "fix" this.

True but still I love the idea. Too bad it would just turn into we need to hurt and pillage the natives more rhetoric and see how they abuse their sovereignty! In MN we still don't abide by our contract with them and folks around here just bitch that they have too much money and take all the fish. Sigh...

"Undocumented" doesn't seem like quite the right term for a group of people who anually (biannually? periodically) fill out a sheaf of paperwork and pay $5000 to stay in the country...

You're right, but that doesn't mean they won't use the term if it wedges people away from doing anything for them.

I read a twitter thread the other day from an immigration lawyer pointing out that basically, the DACA people are screwed if they don't get legislative help, because the only legal path for them to stay here is to basically leave for a minimum of ten years and hope they can get back in. When they've lived here their whole lives. Our immigration system is screwed up.

That's going to work out great with climate change.

Is this where I make photoshop requests? I'd like to see a classic two panel 'shop. Top panel is an image from the Monorail episode of the Simpsons with Marge saying, "But Democracy is cracked and broken!" and the second is Bart (or Lisa?) replying, "Sorry, Mom. The mob has spoken!"

Not quite, but here:

Awesome! Animated is even better! I even forgot to mention that the chalkboard font that is required for all Simpsons gifs and you nailed it.

I just used Frinkiac.

Gremlin you're now in violation of attorney client privilege, since I think someone in that room is probably a lawyer.

Come on, there's no reason to believe that that many men in suits sitting at a table so small that they are literally rubbing elbows all met each other.

If y’all haven’t listened to the Slow Burn podcast about Watergate, I recommend it. Specifically, it gave me the knowledge to understand that “expletive deleted” is a reference to how often the news outlets had to use the phrase after Nixon released the (heavily redacted) transcripts on his tapes.

I guess Nintendo doesn't have any Brits on it's certification team, because I'm surprised they're cool with LGBT slurs on their console.

EDIT - to Nintendo's credit, it was easy to find a contact form for their Corporate Social Responsibility department, so I've sent them an email.

I had no idea that that was a slur. I just thought it was a funny name like Turd Ferguson.

Same. I am afraid to find out what it means.

On the one hand, sure, someone on the localization team had a chuckle putting it in, and to be honest, it made me laugh for a good 3 seconds the first time I came across it, and the game's rated Teen, but on the other hand, I expect better from Nintendo, and I would assume that there's requirements about racial and LGBT slurs in their certification terms and this one slipped through the net as it's colloquial to one specific (and small) country.

Doesn't require a lot of imagination to figure it out, but as ever, Urban Dictionary has your back in times like this. TL:DR version - it's slang/slur for a gay man.
