Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.
If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.
And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.
Trump pardoned war criminals.
That dog died in May.
Sadly not the end of the story though
It's refreshing to see someone writing details of Trump's history to compare to Biden's actions.
Sad thing is, MAGA doesn't care. Corruption does not bother them. So as bad as it was last time, it'll be worse this time, because the Supremes have given the president-elect carte blanche to do whatever he wants with zero repercussions.
That comic could be applied to SOOO many things!
And so it begins...
Until I see solid proof to the contrary, I'm assuming that all the negative hubbub around this pardon is actually coming from tech-savvy MAQA nuts or adversarial state actors and their social media propaganda machines.
That may read as a bit conspiracy-theorist-ish, but those people have an established history of doing this exact thing.
E Warren - who despite being someone I like has really accomplished jack shit of reforms since coming to the Senate.
Agreed, although... If she did all of that, what would she have to run on going forward? It's amazing to me how politicians quickly prioritize job security over doing the right things.
What a lovely world we would live in if people like her were allowed to run it though

I mean, hard to enact reforms when your party doesn't have a functional majority, and no guarantee your whole party would vote for them even if you could get them brought to the floor.
and no guarantee your whole party would vote for them even if you could get them brought to the floor.
That's my point. Doing what's right gets thrown out for personal benefit (staying in office).

Thats not an applicable point though. In order for her to choose her own personal benefit over doing the right thing, she'd need to have had the opportunity to bring those reforms to the floor for a vote and chosen not to. The Senate Majorty Leader is the one who decides what makes it to the floor for a vote, and that's currently Chuck Schumer, not her, so she hasn't been in that position yet. As it is, she's continued to push for lots of the reforms she's always advocated for, but the most she can do is introduce bills, not force floor votes on them.
Accidental double post.

To Warren: Too late. America has moved past you.

The Democrats had *EVERY* opportunity. Every opportunity to do the right thing between the Presidency of Obama, all the way through Biden's presidency. Republican's not letting them is just an excuse not to do a thing. The R's and the D's have the *same* paymasters.
Go check out Jon Stuarts latest stuff, the back half. I have a suspicion that you'll enjoy hearing it far more from someone far more eloquent then I

You might want to reread what was said because you're off on a tangent. I'm not talking about Democrats as a whole, just Warren. She has submitted multiple bills seeking to address the things she listed in her BlueSky post, but she's never had the power to force a floor vote on them. It's unfair to blame her for them not getting one or to use that to claim that she's given up her principles in exchange for job safety. While you can twist that into her being ineffectual, it's hard to be effectual when your own party blocks you before the Republicans even get the chance to vote against your bills. Most of her progress towards her stated goals has come from getting Biden to appoint people she's suggested to key positions, but that's understandably not as flashy as getting laws passed.
Given the sort of reactions this is getting, I wonder if it would even be possible to find a jury that'd convict him anyway, especially if it turns out he or a loved one had been slowalked or denied coverage for something serious that obviously should have been covered.

Yes, they could easily find a jury to convict. Unless the perpetrator is a billionaire, of course.
