Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.
If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.
And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.
So just to be clear. You're dunking on minorities. Is that what you guys do now?
How the hell do you get from the factual statement "throughout history, oppressors always turn on collaborators once they are no longer useful" to "so you're just dunking on minorities now"?
It feels like people are blaming minority's for losing the election.
I read the tone as more a warning of what may come than a criticism of what’s already happened, but your mileage may vary.
It feels like people are blaming minority's for losing the election.
I blame the people that didn't vote for Harris. I don't care what race or gender or anything they are.
It's being directed at the uptick in Latino men who voted for Trump, warning them that their support of Trump now will not do a thing to prevent them from being attacked by MAGA people later. Calling it "dunking on minorities" is insultingly reductive and could not be missing the point harder if it tried. It's like saying that the leopards eating faces meme is celebrating violence.
I would think Marc Andreessen would know better, but I guess not.
In that tweet he literally outs himself as a conspiracy theorist.

I need more like buttons, please.
Andreeseen wrote an absolutely deranged essay where he says that venture capitalists and CEO's should be, and I am not exaggerating even a little, modern feudal lords. He knows better, he just doesn't give a f*ck.

If anything I wrote gave that implication, it was absolutely and emphatically not my intention. I blame anyone who opted to either vote for the R's or not vote at all, regardless of any sociodemographic consideration.
I only blame the people that voted for Trump or some third party. I can’t blame people that don’t vote because honestly for so many people this country has done absolutely a shitty job.
I think there's a usage subtlety here. In the US "minority" is often said to mean specific groups like blacks or gays, but populist fascism doesn't care about that usage - it depends on us/them divisions to stay in power, but doesn't care which groups are involved (and will even invent new groups when it's convenient).
So the comic is clearly dunking on collaborators, which are always going to be "minorities" - in the latter sense, but not at all in the former sense. As such, the red guy in the comic represents everybody - because if fascism has its way long enough it will eventually get around to demonizing everyone in turn (e.g. "trade unionists" in the popular "first they came for..." poem that the comic is kind of riffing on).
(Aside: the red/blue coloring makes it look like the comic might be referring to the election, but it was posted a year ago and in the context of gay/trans issues.)
I thought Harris lost my home state. Good to know theydidn't. I feel a little (just a little better about Walz)
Thanks Crowbar. That made me chuckle out loud. Sorely needed.

He is a classic “f*ck you I got mine” asshole. He doesn’t care about politics he just cares about money even though he is already a billionaire and stumps for Trump because he wants lower taxes and doesn’t want the tech industry regulated.
Almost all of the problems in America right now can be traced back to inequality and the lowering of taxes on the rich in the last 50 years.
I expect to get a lot of usage out of this meme:
And the "those MAGAts would be upset if they could read" template.
People don't remember 2016-2020. No one remembers Elian Gonzolez.
3. Make Speaker Mike Johnson one gunshot away from being the 48th president.
To be fair, Russia and the GOP kind of did their job for them.
Bill Clinton was president at the time for Elian Gonzalez, if it was Bush they would have been cheering that shit.
