[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

I do not.

Yeah I don't get it.

The Supremes decision yesterday that the funding for the CFPB is legitimate and it can keep doing what it’s doing seems to turn it on its head. For once, Clarence Thomas sides with the liberals.

It's actually a reference to a NY Times story that broke yesterday. Via CNN:

CNN wrote:

Justice Samuel Alito drew sharp condemnation Friday following revelations that an upside-down American flag was flown outside his home after the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, a development that renewed calls on the left for Congress to impose ethics standards on the Supreme Court.

The New York Times published on Thursday a photograph of the flag that it said was seen at the justice’s home in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 17, 2021, days before President Joe Biden’s inauguration. Alito told the Times he had “no involvement” in the flag’s hanging and said it was “briefly placed” there by his wife.

The explanation didn’t satisfy critics, who noted the Supreme Court is hearing several cases this year involving the aftermath of the 2020 election. The upside-down flag became a symbol for former President Donald Trump’s supporters who falsely claimed widespread fraud in the election.

Blame it on the wife. Classy.

It recently came out that Supreme Court Justice Alito's home flew US flag upside down following Jan. 6 and it's been interpreted as support for Trump because a lot of the Jan 6 rioters flew the flag upside down.

Flying the flag upside down is an old declaration of "in distress".

The U.S. Flag Code states that the American flag is not to be flown upside down “except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.”

By depicting the Supreme Court upside down, the poster is indicating that it's in distress.

Edit: Tannhausered!

"Why can't these people just be civil while we kill them? I'm the victim here!!"

Yes, being on the receiving end of nasty language is a perfectly good reason to hang the flag upside down.

Alito's story, like his rulings from the bench, is full of sh*t.

The slow guy is also taking detours to drive over pedestrians, but the other two are aren't horrified, just jealous that they aren't able to do it too.

Biden has completely lost any high ground, and I can no longer consider him as simply being "not as progressive" as I want. He's actively enabling a genocide, and the *only* reason I'll be voting for him is that Trump is his opponent. There's still 6 months left for him to f*ck even that up though. I don't think I've ever been this disillusioned with a Democrat in my adult life.

I can only assume there is some Realpolitik stuff going on behind the scenes with Israel for why we are still supporting them and giving them money. Hidden information is the only explanation I have. I agree it is the biggest blemish on Biden’s presidency.

Biden has been a massive supporter of the Zionist movement for most of his career, to the point where in the 80’s he made a statement in favor of Israel killing civilians that made both Reagan and an Israeli diplomat have to publicly distance themselves. There are alleged reports that everyone else in the White House is urging Biden to back off this but he just won’t hear it, and doesn’t believe the criticism.

Yeah, my take is he doesn't just believe that what Israel is doing isn't wrong, he believes it is the right thing for them to do.

The red and yellow cars are going to drive the country into toxic sh*t quickly. The blue car is going to do it slowly.

"I don't understand why people aren't more excited to vote for the blue car."

It's a bad metaphor.

We're more like a ship that turns really slowly. The Blue captain won't turn it as far as we'd like, but he is turning it towards the right direction. The Yellow captain intends to keep us headed full-steam off the edge of the world and has promised to break the rudder off at that heading.

I hate analogies like this because it depends upon the assumption that “not as far as we’d like but still towards the right direction” is still a survivable option.
A better example would be “We’re rapidly approaching a rocky coastline, the Yellow Captain wants to go full steam directly into the rocks whereas the Blue Captain wants to steer us into the rocks, but just far enough down the coast that we might be able to see the harbor if we squint.”
Like yeah, it’s better that we might have the option of seeing safety just out our reach in the distance, but we’re still barreling towards disaster.

"Where children await the school bus"- not in January 2021 they didn't.

The whole thing is just generational musical chairs. At some point the last chair will get pulled…it’s just how long the music plays before a chair gets pulled.

Sometimes you just have to shake things up.

Flying is still the safest way to fly!

I endorse the joke but that's an Airbus A321.
