[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

Its part of the Democratic strategy to get people to vote by... not being murdered.

Republicans will still say the cities are dangerous hellscapes due to the existence of homeless people.

They will still say it because their cult doesn't care about truth/facts/data. They just want to be told who to hate.

The problem is that you can find instances where the # of killings isn't decreasing, and you know that those are the areas that republicans are going to highlight.

Charlotte, NC for instance

Homicides are up in Charlotte this year compared to the first part of 2023. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department shared crime statistics at a press conference on Monday from the first quarter of 2024 that show 34 homicides between Jan. 1 and March 31. That’s a 31% increase from the same period in 2023.

My sister says sh*t like that and it annoys the hell out of me. She talks about the "crime wave" in Philly and I ask her for examples and all she can think of are homeless folks crapping on sidewalks and other mental health related issues.

I’ve got a lib coworker that has somehow fallen for the conservative propaganda about our city and is always talking about moving away because of it. Motherf*cker you live here, you can literally look out a window and see it’s not true.

Liberals are some of the worst. Right wing psychopaths will say a city is a "no go zone" and these days libs nod along with them because... homeless people exist. It's so depressing.

Liberals are the worst. Except for the Republicans, that is.

They’re definitely some of the worst for going along with Republicans on nonsense like that. Yes.

They already had one for non-execs…

It's like people forgot that Ford and GM permitted Germany to use their factories to produce military vehicles and turned a blind eye to the use of forced labor, even while opposing the use of their factories back home in the US for military production.

Or Kodak collaborating with Nazi Germany. Or Coca-Cola inventing the Fanta brand to continue business with Nazi Germany. Or Dow Chemicals. Or GE. Or IBM. Etc etc.

Capitalism doesn't care about human rights or suffering. It never has. Capitalism cares only about the accumulation of wealth in the hands of capitalist elites.

I don't understand the objection. I guess I think like the Democratic party?

Look at where the target line is.

I must be dense. Still not getting it. The ideal target is zero emissions by 2050. In fact to avoid catastrophic circumstances before the end of the century, some mechanisms of carbon recapture are needed (meaning less than zero emissions), because we are already past a tipping point.

Right, but even best case scenario has Biden winning and us being way off target.

Took me a second, too.

I'm with BadKen. Objecting to this is a classic example of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This kind of thinking is exactly why the left is always punching below its weight. "Neither party is absolutely perfect, so they're exactly the same and you shouldn't vote!"

So the human race is doomed, but at least we're not quite as doomed with Biden in office.

I guess the issue I have is the same with a lot of objections to a 2nd Biden term that I see. Looking for a perfect president is a fool's errand. We have to do the best we can do with what is possible.

100% agree. The less bad option is the best option.

It's just comparing current climate legislation versus if that legislation were repealed.
