[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

Here is the article thats from:
https://qz.com/694340/the-richest-fa...

The study adds further evidence on how the rich remain rich. In England, researchers have previously demonstrated how a family’s status in England can persist for more than eight centuries, or more than 28 whole generations. It’s a trait shared by elite families in China, whose high status has persisted since the Mao years.

But of course!

that. is. awesome.

Stars & Stripes says...

“Presidential immunity from criminal prosecution would threaten the military’s role in American society, our nation’s constitutional order, and our national security,” the former defense leaders wrote. “It also would have profoundly negative effects on military service members, who answer to the orders of the president as commander in chief.”

The group argued immunity would place commanders and their troops in a vise between obeying their oath to the Constitution and orders from the president.

Feels like a complete no duh… but these days I take any crumb of sanity.

I wish this would get traction where it matters. But "former" anything never seems to carry much political weight.

If Presidential Immunity really is a thing, Biden really should just kill off half of congress and 6 justices with a predator strike.

I’d much rather have those former defense officials unequivocally state they are voting for and supporting democrats in the election this year. Saying, “this is bad” isn’t really an action. Prove it.

I support this on all platforms.

To paraphrase a text screenshot I've seen floating around:

Tolerance is not a moral principle; it is a peace treaty. Treaties only apply to folks who agree to abide by them. Tolerance is not owed to the intolerant.

I love that. It's a how-to to address the Paradox of tolerance.

Addendum: If you were told you would need a college degree to be employable, you should be able to write off your college tuition and student debt incurred.

Well f*ck that movie then. Not sarcasm; they don't need any more platforming than they already have to spread hate. Now I anticipate some characters having a conversation about states' rights, during the rising action in the second act.

Poor Death. He finally gets Kissinger, and instead of getting a break, he gets immediately thrust into another meme.

Not only is it extremely sus that they used him at all, but Ngo is also a well-known content thief who mostly stopped filming demonstrations himself after he got milkshaked in 2019 and instead would deceptively edit footage from local independent journalists and activists on twitter and then re-upload it as his own, so it’s entirely likely that whatever footage they paid him for wasn’t even his.

Chatting in GWJ Slack someone brought up a good point: if the director/producers wanted footage of political extremism/terrorism, they're likely to reach out to political extremists/terrorists. That doesn't address the content theft, and maybe it's still sus, but I hadn't thought of that. I figured--for some dumb reason--the footage was, like, commentary on the previous Civil War.

Or they could, you know, reach out to the extensive community of antifascist activists and independent journalists which could supply them with functionally the same footage, don’t have widely publicized ties to neo-nazi and terror groups, and won’t use the money you pay them for their footage to incite more violence.
