[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

Full Twitter thread.

Why, oh, why did I think it was a good idea to click on that twitter thread. The HoRRoR!

I've gotten over 80 responses to my comment there, nearly all from Trump supporters still trying to deny reality.

Glorious. You are out there doing the good deeds

Agreed. I can see the level of glee that would incur. Not sure I could sustain it though.

The state did this as an experiment between 2009 and 2015 only because the Susan Thompson Buffet Foundation ponied up a then anonymous $23 million donation.

After seeing the tremendous results of the experiment--and noting that it saved Colorado taxpayers an estimated $66 million from entitlement programs because they didn't have to pay to birth and care for thousands of children--the Republican-led state legislature promptly voted not to continue funding the program out of the state's budget. It took 18 months for the Colorado legislature to be cajoled enough into budgeting the $5 million a year that was needed to continue the program.

Republicans would rather pay tens of millions of dollars for entitlement programs than allow women to control their own bodies and reproduction.

No, they would rather shut it all down, but one thing at a time.

It is very suspicious that Maine, Kentucky, and South Carolina all use ESS voting machines, which don't have paper trails.

The Dems ran an awful candidate in KY. But SC is pretty suspect. Harrison was polling tied or within 2 points of Lindsey and lost by 10 points. Doesn't add up.

Insulting slur so I will spoiler but I agree with the sentiment behind the image. Corporations don't care about you but they also don't care enough to insult you either.

Spoiler:

All other things being equal, I prefer corportations to promote positive messages over negative ones or complete indifference. I get that people get annoyed at the obvious "virtue signalling" of companies, but I just can't really work up much anger about companies promoting themselves with socially positive statements even if it isn't altruistic.

Bingo.

*sound on.

Maine only uses paper ballots though. The only machine we use is a scanner to count the ballots. Those might be from ESS, idk, but we definitely have a paper trail. The false information in the title makes me suspect it's from one of those fake accounts that only exist to spread disinformation and rile people up. Not the original tweet, but the imgur account that posted it.

MG is part of our country’s leadership, and behaves like a villain out of a Star Wars movie. I don’t even have words…

Gotta prime the block list _somehow_

I installed a one-click block browser extension so I just go through threads like that and click click click the magats into oblivion. I just feel like I want to have some kind of this-is-bad button to press; in a just universe that kind of idiocy would not go without consequence.

Pilot and Operator are already used, the pilot is the person flying the plane and the operator is the owner. It mostly comes up in declaring an emergency. Emergences can be declared by the pilot, the owner/operator, or ATC.

I'd never heard of this, f*cking gross. United Fruit Companies, now Chiquita, hired a thug government to destroy a country. All for bananas (ok for money and greed)

Then you're really not going to like the Banana Wars: between 1898 and 1934 (mostly) the US Marines militarily intervened in Cuba, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic to maintain US commercial fruit interests.

The US Marine Corp. even produced a training manual--The Strategy and Tactics of Small Wars--that consolidated all the lessons it learned from waging guerilla wars and destabilizing and overthrowing Central and South American governments.

This seems very similar to what Russia is trying to do in the United States, only on a macro level.

The United States is trying to restore land to small farmers and Indigenous communities?
