[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

More subtle than the actual party.

Soooooo good.

Can someone explain it for my friend?

This is going to sound more lewd than intended, but look between the legs.

To folks like that, words don't have meaning. Words have power.

It's never about what they say. It's about how words can be wielded against their enemies.

We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

Yeah, that article is, for one, in the Daily Mail, which is garbage. And two, was reported in April of 2020, which is like, a tiny, tiny piece of the picture of pandemic-afflicted Japan in 2020.

The rest of the story is far different.

...Yeah. Plenty of blame to go around on this one, and yep the shrill neoliberals demanding we all contribute non-tax-deductible donations to restaurants to cover their labor costs don't get to skip their piece of blame pie. One of the many snaggly facets on the "tipped servants" debate is that some servants make quite a bit more than a living wage, which leads many to assert the system is fine.

You can put it in terms of the pizza party analogy if you like. People only taking one piece are helping to perpetuate the problem of people not ordering enough pizza.

edit: here is the pizza party analogy.

Taking one slice of pizza because we may run out is communism. In America we take three eat one then sell the other two at an inflated price.

Nah, in America you work over a hot oven making the pizza and your boss takes it and gives you a third of a slice that he accidentally dropped and now half your toppings are still on the floor and he looks at you angrily and tells you to clean up the mess you made or you’re fired as he rushes back to his office with the rest of the pizza.

as he rushes back to where he is building his latest mcmansion full of pizza.

FIXED

Well I for one appreciate the references to hoarding behaviors and scalping products to screw over fellow humans.

This exact scenario would happen to me in the early 1990s, when I would go on tour with the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club. Once or twice a tour, instead of stopping for fast food or whatever, our hosts would organize some kind of pizza party. The first time, I took one slice. And went back to find none. And was told I was stupid. Thereafter, I took three. I cannot say I have applied this to any other part of my life than pizza with Glee Club.

But maybe I have?

Scary.
