[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

No, that's called politics.

It's just business doing what business does.

Clockwork, unnecessary regulations force corporations to do that. If the consumer would simply educate themselves then we could very quickly get a handle on all this corruption through the power of our enlightened consumerism.

No, that's called politics. :)

Pretty sure politicians can't inject themselves with their own cash.

Hey that dead pimp is the best possible republican candidate

I was about to say that I thought he was hilarious on HBO. Obviously not somebody I would ever vote for, but still entertaining.

Forgive me for asking, but who are the three felons? I know Ken Paxton is facing felony charges but not the other two.

Duncan D. Hunter (R-Calif.) and Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) are the other two.

Hunter was indicted on five charges, including wire fraud, prohibited use of campaign contribution and conspiracy. He and his wife siphoned about a quarter of a million dollars from his campaign fund to pay for everything from trips to Italy to trips to Taco Bell.

Collins was indicted on charges of insider trading. During a congressional picnic at the White House he overheard that an Australian drug company had gotten bad news from the FDA about drug trials, news that wouldn't be made public for several days. He called his son and gave him the information, which his son used to avoid $700,000 in losses.

I believe the investigating agent called it the dumbest case of insider trading that he's ever seen.

That's the nazi veteran who lost an eye, but got SNL to apologize for being mean to him

Looking at race, gender, and ethnicity in that cohort, they fairly closely match the proportions of those populations at the national level. It's the most diverse cohort of members-elect, and it's the first that actually looks like the nation as a whole.

Making fun of disabled folks in general and disabled vets in particular is never cool. It was a base level cheap joke that SNL shouldn’t have made, or at the very least they should have focused on mocking his policies and taken the shot in passing.

I do like the new representation on the Democratic side.

To be fair, I haven't seen the segments in question, I'm just working off of the twitter rage machine, but the guy was literally the moderator of a Stormfront-y page on Facebook. I'd say there's plenty to call out with that alone, but hey, he still got elected, as did Steve King

Nazi's are exempt from veteran respect, or any other form of respect, really.

I know which America I'd rather live in.

Pete Davidson was doing a bit on Weekend Update where he was giving his first impression of midterm candidates. For Crenshaw Davidson said "This guys kinda cool. You may be surprised to hear he's the congressional candidate for Texas and not a hit man in porno movie. I'm sorry. I know he lost his eye in war or whatever."

He ended the segment by saying "And don't get me wrong. Look, I'm not insane. I know I shouldn't be making fun of how anyone looks. I look like I make vape juice in a bathtub. I look like a Dr. Seuss character that went to prison."

There wasn't any backlash about what Davidson said about the other politicians, just Crenshaw. Because we've got this horribly disturbing fetishization of people who serve in the military.

I wasn't making fun of him. I was simply stating that there was at least one Republican who was different from the others.

Going to edit myself a bit here.
I think that his patch is fair game for some commentary, as he looks like he is making a somewhat ostentatious display of it.

No worries DS - I was responding to SNL’s jokes not anything people posted here. I agree there is a fetishization with the military that too often covers over horrible character flaws. Well, unless the candidate is female and Democrat then combat experience doesn’t matter, or at least that’s what I’m hearing from Kentucky friends about why Amy McGrath lost.

Still, I feel the joke was a major misfire and in the end gave Crenshaw a national soapbox where he could give lip service to civility.
