Fire Emblem Catch All

I think there is a level of charm in the simplicity found in FEH? Birthright has a lot going on and doesn't do very much to educate players on its mechanics (a lot of assumed knowledge or expectation in player skill). Not insurmountable but requires effort and time investment to get to the min max playstyle a lot of trpg players lean towards.

Sure I can see the charm in FEH, personally I just don't need the gambling mechanics in this one. I get enough of that with Overwatch loot boxes .

I haven't played Birthright but there's a inkling of a tutorial in Awakenings at least. Granted there really is a lot going on, reading the manual might not be bad idea.

I believe Birthright has a number of tutorial messages that pop up over time that you can always go back and review. As does Awakening.

It can feel a little overwhelming. Awakening was my first game and I was terrible at first. After playing it, Birthright and Conquest, I've gotten a lot better and more comfortable.

Birthright is a pretty good place to learn. Min/maxing shouldn't really be necessary, I would think?

That's what I linked to earlier.

I wouldn't let the gacha turn you off heroes. If you think of it as a light weight, play it for 15 minutes twice a day fire emblem, you'll enjoy it.

I'm still rerolling and I haven't gotten a decent team yet. Time to delete this game for good...

I don't think I min/max at the level this conversation is generally going. I didn't have any 4 or 5 star chars starting out, and I've been doing fine I think. I picked up a 5* Lyn and Merric yesterday on a summoning round, and they've been amazing, but I still enjoy the other characters I've got.

Not sure it this was mentioned before I hopped in here, but if you signed in with your Nintendo account, you can send yourself 10 free orb from your my nintendo account, along with picking up a bunch of other coins for FEH. Not a ton, but you can land yourself a couple pleasant goodies.

I never rerolled and got 1 5* and 4 4* just from regular playing (and not knowing what I am doing :)). I'd suggest simply playing the game and stop worrying about rerolling an ideal team.

Quote is not edit?

Re chose to reroll his post. I respect the decision.

Yeah, I would just keep going. You'll get plenty more summons.

Ok, I'll keep quoting myself.

Seems like Takumi is the OP 5* hero people complain about. Which makes me wonder if this game can actually expect balance patches.

I hear you, but I haven't even gotten a team I like yet.

I've updated the Fire Emblem Heroes thread to include some of the resources I've seen mentioned here, let me know if there are more you think I should add.

I will now excitedly bark and run in circles until FEH specific chat is shifted over there.

[edit]: While I'm still here...skills like Setsuna's Bowbreaker are a good Takumi first-strike counter if he starts showing up in all the Arena matches. Not a complete counter, but I'm sure there are other options out there too.

Balance patches are part of the model for gatcha-RPGs. Every single one I've played does 'em.

Silly pewpew. This thread is happening.

Takumi is indeed broken. Not unbeatable, but I faced 3 teams today that all had him. Lost to the first one because I didn't know about the counter skill, beat the next 2 but it was close.

The problem isn't the counter skill, it's that he does so much damage. Normally in FE games the counter to archers is armor. Takumi was doing 24 damage per turn to my Sheena, so there's no class that is safe against him.

Touche. Just being true to my nature...which may not turn out to be very good at forum-ing.

I think it's kind of absurd to lock the items that let you rank up your heroes behind pvp. Even more absurd when you consider how you can throw money at the game until you get the best characters and effectively make it really difficult for people to rank up while going against these people. What can you do though that's mobile for you.

You can get near the top rewards just by doing your 3 arena battles a day at Beginner. Honestly the only reason I'm playing at Intermediate is because a quest wants me to. You'll encounter much more reasonable teams in beginner.

That said, the top reward is only 1600 feathers, so... Yeah.

It was only about 2 1/2 weeks ago when this thread was created as a catch-all for all Fire Emblem games, so breaking out the first game to be released since then into its own thread may meet with a little resistance.

Well, don't be too critical. The markets were scathing about how 3rd party Mario ONLY made $47.5 million in the lead up to Christmas compared to Pokémon Go's $750 million as at 31 December. If FEH gacha can bring in enough cash to justify licensing more FE mobile titles then we all win in the long run.

As for Birthright, I'm playing normal with prrmadeath mode. Other than rash plays with lowbie units in an attempt to level them, the game is actually pretty easy.

Wait until you get to Conquest.

I liked this post. But it needs to be quoted for emphasis. Damn.

I'm playing around with an all flyer team. Palla has an ability which gives all flyers atk/spd at the start of combat, so I figured why not. Horse Archers are, as expected, a challenge but not insurmountable. It's fun and interesting, though I doubt strong enough to work much past Hard.

I just got my 2nd 5* Leo and he is the only 5* I have received. Kind of a waste.

Merge for a stat bonus? It's not entirely a waste.

I didn't know that re-rolling was a thing until I'd made too much progress for me to want to start from the start again. Fortunately I got lucky on my last summon though - 5 star Roy and Nowi. Also got a 4-star Gunter, who may or may not end up replacing my Beruka. Gunter seems stronger, but flyers have an obvious terrain advantage.
