Yakuza Games Catch All

They keep making these game and oddly them keep being very good. Anyone else very interested.

Easy Allies Review

I preordered to show my support once again.

I honestly think it's never going to find a huge following until they upgrade their tech, again. Character models, in particular, stick out. Their faces and expressions are always well done, but they're put together like the ten year old models their based on.

Is it Yakuza 6 that's the big change with the new engine etc & not this one?

Yakuza 5 had engine changes.

Yakuza 0 was the first PS4 game, but I don't think the engine is much different from 5.

I'll look into Yakuza 6, I'm not sure what all they did.

Edit: Yup, Yakuza 6 had a new engine.

I am excited it is coming out... although I'm currently playing 4, so I won't get around to this one for a bit. Well, it's a prequel so I don't necessarily have to wait until after 5 but...

I feel like I should wrap up the ones on PS3 before moving on to the next system even if the differences between 5 and 0 are not that stark.

Nice one, still might check Yakuza 0 out its getting really good reviews. Want something slightly Shenmue esq to jump into.

Got this on pre-order, I've always wanted to play a Yakuza game. I'm taking it that it borders more on the Shenmue side of things than Sleeping Dogs?

I've only seen videos of Sleeping Dogs but the Yakuza games are not as crazy do-what-ever-you-want run over pedestrians in cars type deal.

Yeah, more like Shenmue, but with the brutal hand to hand finishers like Sleeping Dogs. Sleeping Dogs is more GTA in structure though. Yakuza games are more like Shenmue in that everything is densely packed in a small area. Very Japan in that way.

Yakuza 0 Angry Review

I think I'm gonna try and grab this in February. I'm interested in it and want to play it, because I've always wanted to get into a Yakuza game and starting with 0 seems like the perfect opportunity. I just can't do so at launch.

Let's Play of the game for those with more time for watching than playing.

Oh man, word of warning for you all, I thought this game auto saved. Turns out I'll have to play the first hour or so all over again...

Yeah, the Yakuza series continues to maintain some of the hallmarks of a PS2 game. I have played all localized Yakuza games and I still get irritated about the save feature, especially not being given the option after a bunch of cutscenes.

Wow that's infuriating, I hope it's good enough to play through that part again. Happened to me when I was out exploring Novigrad or Velen in The Witcher 3. Didn't save for about 45 mins & was raging.

I just saw the first karaoke scene...it was just so cheesy.

I managed to skip a lot of the start, as it's a lot of cutscenes. You actually save using phone booths, but when you encounter your first phone booth it doesn't really make it clear.

This game is so wonderfully strange. The side missions go some really hilarious places. The side activities do to.

I only did it for the trophy...seriously. Don't look at me like that.

Patrick Klepek on the Waypoint stream ran into the same trophy. It was hilarious.

This is my first Yakuza game, and I'm digging it so far! I'm only an hour or more in, so I'm getting through some of the establishing story stuff. Seems like I can't do a lot of the mini-games yet. I like the pacing a lot and I like that it's as much game as it is cutscene. I know that wouldn't fly for some people but for this it feels just fine.

If it is like the other Yakuza games, there are indeed long cutscenes but you always have plenty of time to mess around and play mini games, do side quests (of which there are usually lots) and usually after the story is over you can still play in free mode and do any side stuff you missed if you want to.

I am enjoying the game and made it to chapter 6. I conquered the 1st real estate district. If anyone wants to bowl online or nothing let me know.

Man I have two Yakuza games I haven't even played yet. One with zombies and one of the normal ones. I still want this game. SAD.

Man this game is great. My favorite part is definitely the story but mostly cause of the fights. I love the satisfaction when you stomp minions, a mini boss, then the boss. Yosh!!!!!!

This game is both deadly serious and deadly silly.

Watching some let's plays of this game convinced me to give it a try. So far it's mostly story, with occasional fights. It reminds me of Shenmue, but a lot more interesting.

Now this is how you answer the phone!

The Things That Make Tokyo Feel Alive In Yakuza 0

Exactly this. I'm trying to remember if the previous versions had this same balance. I've played all of the games, but I mostly recall it being serious? Is 0 the first one to lay a bit more into the sillier stuff (like the phone answering thing, for example)?

I can't comment on 0, but 1-4 have their silly moments but they're mostly to be found in side quests and minigames. Maybe not the first one so much... I can't remember for sure.

Quoted instead of edited.

GAH! Sorry....
