Now we’re getting back into the swing of things. This is a good-looking week. My wishlist expanded quite a bit just while researching the list. Don’t worry. I won’t inflict my top-ten list of this week’s releases on you. I’ll only pick one, but believe me when I tell you it’s a struggle.
After a lot of deliberation, I think I’ll go with Torn Tales. No, it’s not funny like some of the other games coming out this week – except in that the premise of fighting an evil bookbinder who has harnessed the power of literature against you reminds me of Witches Abroad, which is my favorite Discworld novel. Your team of literary warriors consists of Snow White, Robin Hood and Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde. So it’s basically Marvel Ultimate Alliance featuring the nerd (nerdier?) versions of Black Widow, Hawkeye and The Incredible Hulk.
I can’t very well pass that up, so Torn Tales gets my nod for Game of the Week.

I would be doing my JRPG-playing brethren zero favors if I failed to mention Dragon Quest VIII releasing on the Nintendo 3DS this week. A more traditional story-based adventure than its remade predecessor, Dragon Quest VIII was originally a PS2 game that earned quite a bit of accolades from genre enthusiasts of the era. It's quite possible I will snag this one eventually.
But for me, it's all about Gravity Rush 2. Last year the remaster of the original turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and while the demo for its upcoming sequel was certainly still a bit wonky, there are also plenty of minor improvements made to the system to make even its most frustrating mechanics tolerable.
Normally I'd be more critical of clunkiness, but Gravity Rush 2 is clunky due to its ambitious vision, and being able to soar around a much more vast world just has me excited. Gravity Rush 2 is my exciting start to 2017 in gaming.

It's a good week for goofy multiplayer. Flub Fighter, Goat Punks and Monumental Failure all seem to be hitting that note. ToledoVR might belong on that list, too, but I keep getting hung up on wondering about the name, and whether they mean Spain or Ohio.
There's also a turn-based Warhammer 40k title out this week, which I might not pick up right away, but which I’m curious enough to check out when there's a sale. Worst case? It still looks like pushing Warhammer minis around.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the hottest slice-of-a-game "I Am Bread!" Finally come out on Xbox One this Friday? I am looking forward to showing that one to the kids.
The world is diabetic, do not sugarcoat anything.
Bloody...Boobs? 0_o
I'm NOT going to google that to confirm it's a real thing.
inactive here until further notice.
Rage Against The Zombies? I can't believe this title didn't already exist.
DQ8 is a definite for me, but I want to finish the 700 hour long DQ7 first. That's...uh, probably not going to happen.
Pro Basketball Manager 2017 is the type of game I usually buy, but Cyanide released Front Page Sports Football in such poor shape I refuse to spend any more money on text sims they touch. I'll stick with Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball instead.
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star keeps interesting me, but since I have zero experience with any Fate/ properties I'm not sure how much I'll get from the game. And I think I'm full up on Musou games atm.
How did I live before digital distribution of old, cheap games?

It's a real thing... I just looked it up.
Thanks, Steam Greenlight!

General advice I've seen is to do DQ8 before DQ7 due to the length of DQ7
Will probably pick up DQ8 for the
wine cellarpile this week.Woohoo! I'm really looking forward to Gravity Rush 2. I will try to finish Final Fantasy XV first though. If I take FF XV out of the PS4 to play Gravity Rush 2, I'm not sure if I would put it back in.
DQ8, gravity rush 2, and Atleier are on my list. Expensive week.
‘You seek a world filled with endless war and destruction. On that we can agree’
She Remembered Caterpillars also comes out this week! That game was super cute when we played it at PAX.
Now Playing: Super Mario Odyssey
When I put in my two bits in TWA, I generally at least briefly check all the PC games, though occasionally there are titles that make it clear that I'm not the audience. This one I probably should have been able to guess from the title, but I really wanted to believe it was a parody of Game Of Thrones or something.
Nope.

Looking at the trailer, it appears to be a game from someone who thought Amnesia: The Dark Decent didn't have enough sex appeal and BDSM.

Battle.net: Taharka#1475
I was just surprised that Rob Liefeld had gotten into indie games.

"Realistic physics of women's breasts and butt" says one bullet point.
I'm going to take a wild, out of nowhere stab in the dark and assume that this might just be a bit of a fib.

I went down a rabbit hole, chasing alternative definitions of "realism" and came up somewhere in the Social Realism movement. Something about the figurative plight of women's bodies in fantasy worlds?
I haven't stretched this hard in a while. I think I may have pulled something.

So, if I understand what's happening (which is not a foregone conclusion) then what everyone is saying is that I really need to review this game.

I thought about that.

Gravity rush 2 is preordered for me. Atelier Shallie is on the list to buy, but not day one because I already bought the PS3 collectors edition, and I haven't finished Atelier Escha & Logy Plus yet.
I'd also buy DQ8, if I didn't already have the PS2 one. Honestly, I'd prefer a PS4 upscale of this one to a DQ8 game. I'm not a fan of going down in resolution for a game like this. DQ7 I bought and replayed because it was a vast improvement on the original, but there's not much room for improvement with 8.
I should have FF15 finished tonight, with any luck. Then Gravity Rush 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Hell yeah! I missed that in the list. Totally getting that
It's as bad as you think.. wtf people.
Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter

I assume it's a game about tripping over and/or stubbing your toe on boobs. That's about the only way I can parse "bloody boobs" as something I'd mutter.
