NCAA college football 2017-18: Official thread

FSU, down by 3 to #4 Clemson, just threw a pick! Oh man!

Hey Louisville is going bowling.

First complete game of the year, finally. Still sloppy with some fumbles, but recovered most, and special teams was bad (muffed punt, missed chip shot FG). But we covered the spread and won at home.

Lamar Jackson the first ever with 3k passing & 1k rushing yards in consecutive seasons.

Honestly he's better this year and should be in the Heisman lead again. Not sure if it's the losses or just the "don't want repeat winners" mentality. But he made about 3 more "holy sh*t I can't believe he did that" plays today, that I'm not sure anyone else playing right now could do.

Heh, Syracuse was leading Wake Forest 38-24 at the half. They were outscored 40-5 in the second half. Final: Wake 64, 'Cuse 43.

Well, looks like ND won't be making folks happy tonight. Back up QB just threw a pick-6 to put Miami up 27-0 going into the half. Ouch.

I've had such confidence in this coaching staff this year, but this one is ugly. No one ready to play.

Miami's defense looks really good.

So, uh, what happens if Bama loses?

Wow.

Miss St leading Alabama into the 4th too.

Oh wait they just tied it. Under 10 left.

I jinxed it.

I <3 The Turnover Chain. And I usually hate Miami.

We're working on what you're supposed to do when you don't have the ball.

This was one of those weeks where all of our hand wringing over difficult playoff scenarios looks really foolish. Not that the scenarios might not still end up foolish, but remember when one of the big issues was about "If Notre Dame gets in, and UGA's only loss is to Bama, you have to let them in, right?"

Enjoy the chaos!

Hate to kick a man while he's down, and I haven't seen Gumbie around lately anyway, but this was on twitter:

Tennessee's most recent game vs each SEC team:

Alabama - L 45-7
Arkansas - L 24-20
Auburn - L 55-23
Florida - L 26-20
Georgia - L 41-0
Kentucky - L 29-26
LSU - L 38-7
Mizzou - L 50-17
Miss State - L 41-31
Ole Miss - L 34-3
SCar - L 15-9
Texas A&M - L 45-38
Vandy - L 45-34

0-13

And Butch Jones has been fired from Tenn.

Bummed to lose to the Wartiggermen, especially in a blowout, but hopefully the Dawgs take care of UK and the Nerds and then beat Bama/AU for a playoff berth.

Thanks... that one was a little too close for comfort. Losing something like 4 star linebackers apparently does hurt our defense a little...

This week's schedule? Meh, not much of any real importance.

Wisconsin-Michigan (noon), Harvard-Yale (12:30 p.m.) and a couple of really good rivalry Pac 12 games at 8 - UCLA-USC and Cal-Stanford.

So I guess the college football weekend's not a total loss.

Lamar Jackson's last home game.

Senior Day as well for Ohio St. 8th-year senior J.T. Barrett.

Gonna be rough sailing for Michigan next week facing that guy with our 3rd-string QB.

I recently saw a question posted on a Michigan board asking when was the last time Michigan rolled into the tOSU game with a healthy senior starting QB. I honestly couldn't remember. Sometime before Denard Robinson, I think.

Edit: I believe it was John Navarre in 2003 (!!!). Michigan has been 1-13 against tOSU since then.

Pitt is crushing Miami's dreams!

Whoa! That was unexpected!

Also, I know it's a rivalry game and anything can happen, but I did not expect unranked Ole Miss to bump No. 14 Miss St, considering how Ole Miss has gotten blown out in not a few games this year.

Ole Miss needed that to get bowl eligible too.

So, technically, Miss St. and the rest of the SEC profit from Ole Miss winning. Hmmm...

Miss St. lost their QB early in the game, and I'm pretty sure Ole Mi$$ is under a self imposed bowl ban hoping to mitigate the impending NCAA hammer, so no SEC conspiracy there, Jayhawker.

Rivalry week is off to an exciting start with those two huge upsets!

I can't believe I'm watching UCF-USF

I can't believe how much fun that game was. Weird watching good football teams from Florida for a change.

Texas Tech beats the Longhorns in Austin!

The dream of four (or more!) losing seasons in a row lives on!

Someone please photoshop Chip from Chip & Dale in a UCLA jersey please.

Kentucky tackling Lamar after the play, trying to get him ejected for fighting. Only way they have a chance.

Cards up 14-0 already
