Craziest gamer you've come across?

Been playing some Gears 4 with randoms and thinking about all the weird folks I've come across. Today I was playing Horde mode and trying to pick up all the energy dropped by enemies since I was playing the scout (they get 2x normal). Another player was pissed I was picking up all the energy before he could and he just followed me around trying to chainsaw me and shoot me the entire game (nevermind that there's no team damage).

Anyone else have stories about the weirdos they've come across?

Years back, back when I was in high school (late 90's), I remember this one online game that came out. It was free to play, turn based, and kind of like chess. There was a square grid, split into two sides, and before the match you had a little bit of leeway in determining what units you had. There were archers, wizards, clerics, and two static pillar pieces, one which would shoot lightning at people who got within range, another that acted as a shield. Each piece did a certain type of damage, with melee units only doing damage one square away, wizards being able to AOE in a cross a few blocks out, archers firing in a straight line and damaging the first person it hits, etc. Clerics healed, and I think there was another support class. For the life of me, I can't remember what it was called, so I'm trying my best to describe it.

I played a match or two against the computer to get a feel of how the game operated, and hated the static pieces. I like to be more flexible than that, and I could have two other pieces for the cost of that one. So I put a team together, and let the game find me a real match. I should note that even from the start, all matches were ranked.

I get into my first match ever, against a guy that had pretty much the standard load-out, but a bit heavy on the defensive side, along with the pillar that shot lightning. I had a fair mix of offensive and defensive units, but a little heavier on ranged units. Looking at his team, it was pretty obvious that I could use my archers to take down the pillar without ever coming into range, set my melee classes just ahead of them, set my clerics off to the sides where they were hard to get to, and kept my wizards kind of in the middle to AOE those that got close. The pillar dropped fairly quickly, and because I kept my defensive stance, he had to start coming to me. I just picked his pieces off one by one.

He got a few of mine, but they were mostly my defensive units, still leaving me with a lot of offensive power. Near the end, he started telling me how badly I was doing (he had finally seen that it was my first match), told me that it'd be better if I just forfeited. Bull sh*t! I knew I had him. He couldn't even get close to me without me being able to seriously wound him, and he had no ranged units by that point... it was just a slow walk through the fire for him to advance, with no chance of making it. He just kept at it though, trying to convince me I was done for. He started refusing to make moves, still trying to convince me that he was being the better player by "letting me quit instead of losing". Eventually I just told him to hurry up so I could finish him off, and he quit, taking the quit rather than the loss. I didn't bother with the game much after that. It was OK as a game, but it was a horrible first impression as to what kind of people played it.

Some loud Russian guy cussing me out on voice on Overwatch recently for not playing up to his standards (this was on quick play, mind... although admittedly, I was having a bad round). The way he was yelling, it sounded like he was trying to do a bad Schwarzenegger imitation but with a Russian accent. Imagine "Get to the choppah!" but instead it was "We need a Junkrat!"

He was dead serious though and getting very upset that we were losing.

At first, I was slightly distraught and thought about quitting for the night. It was just so over the top though, that I started to laugh at it. Eventually he left mid round in disgust.

"Torb! You are stupid! You put turret on (unintelligible)!"

"Torb! You are like sh**! No! You are not like sh**! You ARE sh**!!!" And on and on.

For me it's mostly the kids who scream and shout all the worst racial profane things in the world. I just wonder who is bringing these kids up. Sorry, dragging up.

Really makes me worry for our future.

My craziest moment was in WOW where a guy came up behind my night elf female character and started doing the pelvic thrust. He followed me throughout Stormwind sending me tells about how hot I was and if I could just stand still so he could get off. Finally, I typed "I'm a dude IRL" to which he replied, "I'm bi so that's hot."

I'm not sure I'd call these the craziest gamers, but +1. My son plays XBox Live a lot and sometimes in online matches the other side will have their mikes on. The background family yelling, swearing, and general insanity is mind blowing. It's a sobering glimpse into the abyss.

Someone screaming obscenities and racial slurs, yelling out what he said was his address, and announcing he wanted everyone to come to his house so he could kick their asses. It was the singly most vulgar, unpleasant, and vile online gaming experience I have ever had. The game I was playing?

Snoopy Flying Ace.

Hahaha. For some reason the Disney ride for 6-year-olds comes to mind, and that made this story even funnier.

And this is exactly why I refuse to play online, far too many asshats for my patience level.

Playing online is fine as long as your default position is without comms. The worst things I run across these days is a Mei on our own team ice-walling us into the starting area for a few seconds in Overwatch or a plant/zombie hacking to be a member of the other team in Garden Warfare 2.

Gaming has been griefer free for a long time now, thanks to not putting a headset on my head in most situations.

Put. That. Headset. DOWN.

Headsets are for goodjers only.

Come on dude, I have apologized multiple times. Can't you move on?

This IS the future. Some of those kids screaming into their xbox headsets while playing Halo multiplayer 15 years ago are dads now. Terrifying isn't it?

Halo MP 15 years ago...you lie! YOU LIEEEEEEEEE!

I was playing a round of Overwatch once and this guy who after complaining about my choice of character for a while started literally singing a song about how sh*tty I was at playing Reinhardt. It definitely felt good when I got the play of the game.

The thing I find scarier is the local conversation in the background you hear going on, sometimes with the kid/person playing. An adult or two will be swearing at the kid playing, the kid is yelling back, other siblings who sound much younger are swearing and joking at the gameplay.

I'd go crazy if I lived in a place like that. Why are they all yelling dropping f-bombs at each other? Is that how families talk to each other now?

A guy from Cyprus lost a game of FIFA against me. He sent me a message after saying "Laggy SOB".

Maybe not that crazy, but it gave me and my friends a good chuckle, so much so our pro club on FIFA has been called Laggy SOBs since.

I once tried Dead Nation online. I matched up with someone who constantly instructed me on what to do, when to do it, and to never shoot across to his side of the screen. I, of course, ignored this and played as I saw fit, in the essence of fun. I tried their militaristic approach and almost fell asleep, but for the incessant orders. I was told of my terrible skills and how terrible I was. I didn't select the online multiplayer again. I did see out the game, though, as I was not being made to quit.

Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 had their share of eejits who would throw racial slurs, and homophobic slurs, and question my gender identity, if I happened to be better than they expected. I'm a straight, white, cis-male. I was also a little above average in Uncharted multiplayer.

I only have friends on comms now. Anyone in game, my team or the opposition, is put on mute.

Hey, I did gripe the other night because you destroyed the heck out of me, but it was because you're really good and you know what you're doing. Sorry if I came across anything similar to those jerks. Much respect.

Oh I don't even remember any complaining from you. People in Overwatch competitive take whining to a whole other level.

Whew... I've been looking for a safe space to post this for a while.... Okay, here goes:

Whenever I get to drive my car with the GWJ Rocket League crew there's this guy named tboon who always blows me up! It's to the point now where i memorize the sound of whatever boost trail he's using and just jump whenever the sound gets close. Lord help me when a teammate is using the same trail.... I end up jumping around our goal needlessly.

Spoiler:

<3 you tboon if you're reading this

A brief foray into GTA Online and this guy followed me for 10 mins saying what a fat arse I had - kinda hard seeing as i think all the female character models have the same body shape!
