[Discussion] The Donald Trump Administration

Let's follow and discuss what our newest presidential administration gets up to, the good, the bad, the lawsuits.

What I find oddest is that Meliana and Barron are in bed PJs obviously implying this is a breakfast setting but trump is fully decked out in his suit. So does he just sleep in it?

Actually it implies that they simply lounge around the house while trump goes out and works which is very much the "man as the bread winner" - "man as head of the household" ideals that many conservatives like.

This would explain why his suits always look so sh*tty and ill fitting. I can see going two sizes up if you plan to sleep in them.

Secondly, I can not fathom the reality of living with a husband or father like Trump. He does not appear particularly stable and I have to think his followers, subordinates, and sychopants are probably pretty awful people for a child to be around.

Now they have filed to stop the recount in Wisconsin as well. I vote the democrats slap on tin foil hats and go full on conspiracy theory that they are trying to hide something.

Republicans can't complain or they will be seen as blocking democracy.

Ah. Never mind. Old news. They were told to go pound sand. Recount continues. The reason hurts my brain.

A federal court in Wisconsin on Friday rejected an attempt by pro-Donald Trump groups to stop a recount of the state's presidential vote, saying there was no harm in allowing it to continue.

Two pro-Trump political action committees and a Wisconsin voter on Thursday filed a lawsuit and a request for a temporary restraining order seeking to stop the recount, arguing that it was an unconstitutional violation of the Constitutional rights of people who had voted for Trump.

But U.S. District Judge James Peterson on Friday denied the motion to temporarily halt the recount, saying there would be no harm in allowing it to proceed while the state prepares arguments in defense.

Trump not president yet and doing everything in his power to piss off China.

HEY LET'S TALK TO TAIWAN.

Is it legal to muzzle the president-elect before they take office?

sleep with Russian bear so you can f*ck Chinese dragon? Seems like a winning strategy to me!

The other day I thought about how awkward it would be to be commander-in-chief when you don't pay taxes. Then I realized that by now he must be used to giving people orders and not paying them.

Intelligence briefings? I don't need no stinkin' intelligence briefings!

He never needed intelligence before, so why start now?

Here's something I didn't know about that. Ari Fleischer tweet:

Uh-oh. I wasn't even allowed to refer to the gvt "of" Taiwan. (I could say gvt "on" Taiwan.) China will go nuts.

Because he'll control nukes in about 45 days...

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

This is so massive, "gaffe" doesn't even begin to cover it. This is an assault on 40 years of US policy.

My question is: Ignorance or not? Which would be worse?

I mean, sure, we kind of expect ignorance from this guy. But what if it wasn't? What if this is US policy going forward?

So much more entertaining if you picture this guy saying that

Here's the sad thing. It will be framed as, "Trump is breaking the norms to make things happen."

His supporters literally seem to think he can do no wrong. He could launch nukes at Russia and they would say, "he's being strong and not showing weakness!"

We are well and truly F'd

I can't find it right now, but there was a parody article saying that Obama signed an order requiring all presidents to be taxpayers.

Uncle Sam is already pissing China off with the South China sea dispute. Trump threatening 45% trade tariff. Then talking to the imperial faction which is an embarrassment to the ruling Communist party. Yep, he's really demonstrating how a business background will help with running the country.

Don't worry, everyone. Trump will use the power of Twitter to fix everything.

Encounters between the US Navy and China in the South China Sea are about to get a lot more hairy.

Twitter announced today that they'll ban DJ if he violates the TOS. It'll be fun to see a sitting president try to sue twitter.

So we're going with ignorance then.

Well, fair enough.

That should get mitigated a bit once he's in the white house.

Trump reportedly agreed to the call, which was arranged by his Taiwan-friendly campaign staff after his aides briefed him on issues regarding Taiwan and the situation in the Taiwan Strait, sources said.

I think China realizes Trump is an idiot and will let it slide since they know how easy it is to play him.

They'll point out that they could end Walmart in a day and he'll show his belly faster than my dog hoping for a treat.

Grain of salt required considering this is coming from Duterte, but it certainly fits Trump's M.O.

Good to know that Trump thinks slaughtering people is a good approach.

He described Trump as "animated" and said they talked about "a lot of things." Duterte said he told Trump Filipinos "are tight with America" and wished Trump success.
"He was wishing me success in my campaign against the drug problem. He understood the way we are handling it and he said there is nothing wrong with protecting your country. It was very encouraging in the sense that I suppose that what he wanted to say was that he would be the last to interfere in the affairs of our own country. "

Pointing out how Trump is stepping in it is like yelling at a dog. I'm not sure it will do any good and I am pretty sure he won't learn from it.

Again: Read "A Decent Ride" for a good, fictional portrait of a billionaire very similar to Trump.

Kelly Conaway (is that her name?) indicated that Trump was well aware of historical American policy towards mainland China and Taiwan, and that the call was arranged by Trump's staff. That is, she's saying, yeah, this was a deliberate change of policy.

I hope whoever nukes us, in the end, allocates a big one for Ft. Meade so I can die quickly in the initial blast, and not linger on.

Well...

Since then, a much-shared image from the manga artist Yuusuke Hori has helped spread the rumor that Barron, Heir-Apparent to All Fifty States, Plus Candyland is actually the star of a manga entitled: “My loud, annoying dad is president, so the quiet unassuming life I wanted is completely over.”

One of my more outlandish theories is that we are all trapped in a nightmare of one of the Trump children.

NormanTheIntern are you concerned that Trump could damage the Republican party in the long term?

It's just the art of the deal:

Trump has apparently been considering building a luxury hotel chain in the northwest Taiwanese city of Taoyuan, the Shanghaiist reported last month.

Of course.

We're all just working for trump industries now, or whatever it's called. I hope the 401k is good.

I remember that our proximity to Offutt was always a big positive for my mother during the Bush years.

Fun times.
