NCAA Basketball 2016-17 Catch-All

Going to be really hard for 'Nova to repeat. Their bracket is brutal.

I'm assuming Stele will do a thread, but here is a link to the GWJ Bracket Challenge at ESPN. I just rejoined from last year, but Stele is the creator.

I thought you were in charge? Maybe that was the old Yahoo group.

Yeah, I was using Yahoo, but then Yahoo started requiring more information so we went with your ESPN group.

Done. My bracket's name is definitely going to be a complete, 100% reflection of how I'll do...

Spoiler:

I'm Probably Wrong.

GOOD.

Used a RNG and a quick weighting algorithm based on seeds to pick all the games for this bracket. Everyone should be ashamed if I do well.

I'm in this year.

This will not end well for me.

I highly doubt I'm going to repeat last year's win.

Ah, the annual figuring out what the hell the channels other than CBS are game.

Most people know TBS and TNT. The TruTV one is the oddball.

And of course they put the First Four on there the last couple nights to try to get you to tune in. I assume the ads that station sells this one week keep the lights on all year.

Tom Crean fired by Indiana.

Wonder who will get the better hire, NCSU or IU?

First game down to the wire. ND gets lucky after missing FT and Princeton misses game-winner. ND survives.

Took me 10 minutes last night to find the Providence/USC game on TruTV.

I just create an alternate "Favorite Channels" on my Tivo with just the channels showing games. Switch to that and bounce around as necessary.

I'm still kind of baffled that my wife, who is definitely the more NCAA-tourney-excited of the two of us, managed to schedule our family vacation directly on top of the tournament. Leaving tomorrow and getting back next Saturday means we miss 67% of the tournament games. I didn't even bother with a bracket this year.

Yeesh, that's like those people who get married in March.

Northwestern wins!

Poor Vandy kid is never going to live down that foul when up 1.

This may be the understatement of the entire tournament. I've seen brutal day ones. Yurs might take the cake, already. Ouch!

I've lost count of how many times I saw the Megazord twerk today.

Well I'm next to last. But it looks like we have two people with perfect brackets for day 1.

About 25 years of doing brackets, I have never had a perfect day 1 (or 2). Granted, it wasn't exactly a big upset kind of day yesterday. Picking Minnesota and Maryland to go out to Middle Tennessee and Xavier wasn't exactly a big stretch.

Nothing bracket shattering, but day two is going a bit worse than my lackluster day one.

Louisville wins. Some kid for Jax (Giga) goes 5/5 from 3 when he only hit 8/32 all season. Good grief.

Closer than it should have been but never in doubt.

Michigan v Louisville 2013 title rematch on Sunday.

Crazy finish by USC a min ago.

I had to tweet something about going 20/20 on my picks and then USC beats SMU. Jinxed myself right out of that one.

Michigan / Oklahoma St. game was absolutely bonkers. M is a good 3-point shooting team and they had a lot of good looks, but never seen anything like that second half from them. Broke their school record for 3s in a tourney game. And both teams averaged nearly 1.6 points per possession in the second half. Wild.

Reminded me of WVU in 2005 Elite 8. Same coach. Louisville survived a similar onslaught of 18 threes and won in OT. Ok St was very close.

One of these years I'm either going to fail on the first day or survive the first weekend unscathed.

They really were. They got everything they wanted inside. Michigan got everything they wanted from deep. Fascinating game.

Gonna be an interesting match-up with Louisville. Beilein and Pitino went at in 2013 in the championship game too. Really hoping this will be the year Beilein's squad finds a way. (Even though I picked Louisville to the Final Four.)

ESPN tweet:

With Wichita State's upset win over Dayton, there are 1,449 remaining perfect brackets out of 18,797,085 in the Tourney Challenge.

EDIT: Followup tweet

Cincinnati's win cut the number of perfect Tournament Challenge brackets to 952 out of 18,797,085 entries

Dammit, SMU!
