NFL 2016: Week 8

Washington “at” Cincinnati (at Twickenham): Cincy at home would've been an easy pick, but on the road I'm going with the "offenses suck" when playing in London and ... well that doesn't help me. I'll give the ground game in Cincy the nod against Washington. Also, AJ Green isn't human.

Detroit at Houston: Detroit has one of the worst defenses in the world and Houston has one of the worst QB's in the league right now outside of that tax free team. Been a rough year in pickems for me, not getting many breaks so I'll go against the grain here and pick the away team. Detroit.

Arizona at Carolina: Carolina at home should be able to win this one, right? f*ck it, Arizona.

Philadelphia at Dallas: I look forward to Certis throwing into quadruple coverage more often. This will continue to happen as long as Vaitai is in at RT (single greatest gif ever, btw). Dallas.

Minnesota at Chicago: I'll take the defense in this one vs. the QB carousel. Minny. Actually, I just realized the Bears are also able to exploit the Minny OL, so I'm going to change to the home team here. Chicago.

I forgot to pick again.

I nominate Rat Boy for next week's thread.

Yay, finally caught up to Oddsmakers. That means I'm bound for another 1-4 week.

Now that FF is firmly established, it feels more like gambling than a game of skill. In GWJFFL Pro, everyone is so good at this point that winning seems to come down to luck (injury and matchup) and who had to auto-draft. Still fun, but as I get older I get more and more annoyed with the 'kids these days' always checking their phones during games and yammering on about their fantasy players.

This season I made a vow to not check my FF scores while watching football and it's made my Sundays much more enjoyable.

I quit fantasy football 4-5 years ago, and I have enjoyed football so much more since then.

The key to enjoying fantasy football is to ignore it on Sundays.

FF is a game played during the week. Watching scores during the games is just self-torment. I set my lineups and don't acknowledge it again until all the games are over.

It's a Marv Levy sighting at the World Series...71 years after he saw a World Series game at Wrigley previously.

What? It's football related!

A nice guy by most accounts, and a lifelong Cubs fan. I was rooting for Cleveland, but damn. He's about due for a big win.

Jags fire OC, promote QB coach to job

Averaging 10.6 PPG this season, last in the league. Nowhere to go but up, I guess?

You're welcome. Admittedly, it was on clearance. I can't imagine why.

So, do we all get half a point for that Bengals-Washington game?

I'm not sure I can handle the possibility of a tie three weeks in a row.

Chris Conte still sucks.

*Legion* may need to put a 3rd option on the pick page, after the last 2 weeks.

Not shockingly, Roberto Aguayo also still sucks.

Forgot to make picks. Can you put me down for Minnesota and Dallas for tonight and tomorrow?

Can this Oakland game f*cking end so Cooper stops getting points?

Holy sh*t.

Raiders set a new NFL record for most penalties in a game, and Tampa still loses. Sigh.

So I haven't been able to watch more than a few plays today, but let me see if I have this straight:

The highest drafted kicker in the NFL (Janikowski) missed two would-be game winning field goals.

The second highest drafted kicker in the NFL (Nugent) missed a field goal and an XP in a game that ended in a tie.

The third highest drafted kicker in the NFL (Aguayo) missed an XP in a game that went into OT and his team lost.

Is that about right?

Hello, Carolina Panthers! Welcome back. I missed you.

Both of Seabass' were 50+, and the Aguayo miss was effectively negated by a successful two-point conversion, so it didn't factor into the loss.

He still sucks donkey balls, though.

Me too.

Ugh, Dallas.

Here I was formulating a rant for this week and then this pretty much sums it up.

*crumples up paper, tosses it in garbage*

Well, I would have only been 1-2 so far had I got my picks in, so it's not killing me. I would have had the Texans. I'm assuming a tie is just a miss for everyone.

The nice part of a 10am PDT start that SEA loses is I can not care about football the rest of the day! I call that a win.

I missed spending Sunday and presumably Monday nights thinking of something clever to say about a football game I only remember 3 minutes of.
