New World - Catch All

Yeah, I’m just enjoying rolling around and collecting stuff and crafting. It’s my relax and podcast time game.

We're waiting to take a look on how the population swings after they open it up for them all. We're looking for a relatively low pop server like Riallaro is now and that has a higher Covenant population.

Our map on Diyu is mostly purple in the main hubs. Green has the baby south zones and yellow has one. You can change your faction once every 120 days and the first time free. We think a lot of people switched to purple for the discounts as it was more equal starting out.

Keep in mind that the transfers are region locked, and I believe that includes East coast to/from West coast.

Which would mean Kroclylea for anyone currently on a East Coast server or Riallaro (or wherever ran's guild moves to) for West Coast.

Kroclylea is currently pretty balances, though I think green is best positioned for the current state of the economy. The map is currently 4 G, 4 P, 3 Y, but Green owns the middle of the map including Everfall and Windsward, which I believe are the most profitable maps on most servers, plus, at least as of this weekend, Green has been the only side to win an invasion.

We are east so looked at Kroclylea. It lists as Medium population which strangely so does Diyu now. There have been a lot of transfers to our light server, but we should be able to transfer to that one. We are green warrior faction.

I will talk with the crew this weekend and see if they're good moving to Kroclylea. I also have Haynes interested in moving to NA from EU, but I understand he cannot transfer a character.

We won't be hardcore pvp, but I am sure there's a spot in a guild for us to taste the siege stuff. I imagine Dahc's guild is full up.

Dahc's guild is actually 3 companies since they cap the company size at 100, and I believe the three companies are the green land owners. Dahc (and Maladen) and I have done the first two dungeons, each time with Dahc finding the two other spots from his company chat. Anyway, I believe that they have room but it will be in one of the auxiliary companies.

I really, really wish they would implement either a multi-company option or create some other kind of mechanism for small guilds/friends groups to organize around.

Kinda stuck on advancing the main quest line now, as I can't find a group for the Amrine expedition on Riallaro. Seems like the server population has really dropped off fast.

Honestly at this point I'm probably just going to shelve the game for a while. As a non subscription MMO, I feel like I've gotten enough value for the time being, and can come back down the road when it's a bit more fleshed out...

As Akunin said, we have three companies going right now. Maladen and I are in Company 2. If you transfer to our server send me a tell and if you want to join I will ask to get you in.

Speak up in company chat if there's folks on we'd gladly run it with you.

Medical issues have kept me from playing much this week, but this weekend i should be good to go again.

How many GWJers are on Kroclylea?

As of right now, two (wyser and Maladen) in one of the big Marauder guilds. Two currently in our friends and family guild that traces it's root back to the ol Eldain Lotro guild. Two more are in the process of transferring (though they are both GWJ lurkers, so not sure they count.) but were interrupted by the token snafu.

Plus 3, if GoldenDog/CrazyIvan and his band come over.

So, not huge numbers, and the friends family guild may or may not last and is only used as a chat vehicle right now.

Server transfers are suspended from finding bugged characters. Once they go back up, we are set to move to Krocylea.

We transferred to Krocylea and joined the third Sentinels guild. I got on their discord and chatted with couple officers.

Hit me up if you need help with anything.

Just a heads up with the server xfers back up and Riallaro server pop dwindling we are looking to migrate over to Diranda within the next few days. Diranda has had a steady balance of zone ownage by all 3 factions and has a much higher pop.

Edited. Server transfer complete from Riallaro to Diranda. Come join if you desire.

Came back to the game after a couple weeks off and realized I’m in a bad place. My light armored mage is stuck in the mid-20s but can barely solo kill/search missions much less boss battles. With the community for the most part in end game content I have no idea how I’ll ever catch up. Also doesn’t help that there seems to be no groups running low level dungeons that you need to progress.

What server are you on? You should have a free transfer to a larger server where groups are faster. I would respec the mage into a Con primary or equal (example 2 Con per 2 Int) and equip heavy armor, Great Axe, Warhammer, Hatchet, with LifeStaff, Fire, Glove secondary to level 60. I would switch back to glass mage once you are are outleveling your area or over-geared and comfortable.

With the Con/Str setup I could solo with gear 19 levels below me.

Gear is pretty cheap on the auctions I have seen. A little bit of resource farming and selling should get you equipped. You get bonus xp, gold from your first 3 faction missions and you can level through crafting and the town board. I now play light armor for PvE and light staff, firestaff, ice gauntlet, hatchet. For PvP, even the mages and healers wear heavy as survivability is most important.

Hatchet once you go down the left tree to beserk where you gain health regen/immune to stagger while it is active makes solo'n much easier borderline trivial all the way to 60. While leveling I would not see any reason to go full light armor for any spec unless you really want the roll mechanic on dodge. At the very least Heavy armor chest should be worn as it has the biggest boosts to armor and using light pieces in other slots maybe even a medium should be able to keep armor rating to light to keep the roll. From what I have seen fire mage tends to level slowly compared to other specs early on.

If not already using most dungeon groups are formed in the recruitment chat tab if you did not want to wait at the entrance.

If your on Diranda and have the key to Amrine I can run you thru.

Thanks all! I was hesitant to go two different builds but it sounds like it won’t be too big a deal at end game to focus on mage. I’ll also check out moving servers.

As you level u can open with fire staff hitting the mob one time then switching to hatchet or whatever finish the mob. You will get split weapon xp this way helping to keep fire staff leveling as you go.

Respecing your attributes once level 60 I think is only 200g so focusing on something other than Int while you level is also not a huge deal. The ease of switching weapons and attribute points at endgame lends you to not having to worry about that stuff as you go.

Personally I felt I leveled Fire relatively easy. To speed up the process you really don't want to be splitting the xp between two different levels. I level my fire staff for two levels and then do the same for rapier. I'm sitting around 18/19 on them now.

The big thing is around level 15-20 start moving away from all light armor. It get's rough missing the rolling dash, but the heavier armour value is huge. The bonus damage isn't enough to outdo the incoming damage. By staying alive longer you're able to do more damage overall and get more xp.

Personally I'm wearing Heavy chest, boots, gloves. Medium chest, and Light legs. It keeps you in the medium armour category.

I can second the not worry to much about your build and switching. I made it to level 60 and not even one weapon was maxed because I changed so much! New Void Gauntlet weapon is out and looks interesting to pair with wither healing or DPS builds so now I have yet another weapon to mess with.

On Krocylea there has been a big map swing. Covenant has taken a lot of territories recently. Wondering how active the maps will stay.

Anyone else playing hammer and hatchet? This is a surprisingly fun build where I have great CC and a ranged option, and beserker is a life saver.

I use Hammer once in a bit. It is great cc and wrecks skeletons pretty well since they are weak to it.

Apologies if I've asked this before, but what are the chances of this pivoting to F2P? I'd like to give the game a try, despite all the duping issues and whatnot, but I'd rather not shell out money to play for a couple of hours before Amazon retools the game.

Assuming, of course, they're gonna stick with it at all. Really sounds like there's some major behind the scenes issues that reminds me a lot of Wildstar in that the behind the scenes stink never seemed to resolve itself and eventually led to its demise.

Very unlikely and TBH there's plenty enough game that justifies the price before you get to the point where issues like duping and the end game becomes a factor.

It's on Steam sale right now for $30 (25% off). I haven't played much since my ~40 hours with it when it first released. The story/quests are a bit thin, but I really enjoyed the core gameplay loop - and the sound design, of all things, is phenomenal.

They are adding, adjusting and fixing all the time. Once you spend the initial cost the game is f2p at that point and I don't see that changing based on the current direction. I am 200+ hours in and still playing. The endgame is a little bland atm for longevity but that is where a lot of changes are happening. It is worth the money if you need a mindless grindy MMO that will play easier solo as it takes effort to group up which doesn't usually occur unless you are in a company or play with friends.

The harvesting and crafting is fun albeit very grindy for the casual player. It is a fun flawed grindy (though not too grindy unless u want to max every skill) MMO.
