New World - Catch All

I don't find the professions grindy at all. I find them to be in a good place able to make steady progress casually gathering as you quest. I find it to be no slower than other like games I have played.

Yeah they're not too bad if you go to the right locations. The harvesting one was frustrating me a lot, but then I just hung out in those cursed farm fields and snagged all of the broccoli, carrots, etc, for a little bit. Starting at level 20 or 25 for each of the gathering professions, you get a compass-rose indicator that directs you towards their respective resource nodes.

Looks like they are working on a character transfer system. According to them 40% of the servers are at low capacity with no wait times. Hopefully when they get the transfer system up and running, people will spread out a bit.

I joined Ryollo and if you try to log in after 4pm est good luck.

If you mean Riallaro It's actually one of the better ones. They're all slammed starting at 6pm est. Although right now there's only a 10min wait which is good. The closer to 12am it gets the lighter the load Plus today the server along with some others were down for maintenance starting at 3:45 till around 6:30pm

I meant the server I said.

Server queues over 1000 shouldn’t be a thing 4 days after launch. For chrissakes Amazon you’re one of the top server companies in the world. Figure this crap out!

3 of us are currently playing on a low pop server with secondary characters on Diyu server. No queue during prime time currently.

Character names are, Lusidia, Garflunk, and Ivan Bear.

What are the Riallaro plans for joining a Company?

I'll send an invite out when server is back up

Are you open for any GWJ folks to join? Thinking about jumping in to this.

Our server at prime time tonight had around only 60 people in queue whereas previously it was 600+

Sure more the merrier... there's around 6-7 of us currently bopping about. All of us Goodjers.

3 of us actually did the first dungeon with 2 pubbies last night. Was exciting and fun and we actually ended up completing it in the end.

Trying to create a character on Riallaro but it says it's closed to new characters.

Edit: Looks like all the OG servers are closed. None mentioned in this thread are open. Looks like I'll go to Mu (US East) and wait for server transfers.

That explains the drop in queues

Yeah, a friend tried to join us on Krocylea and got the same message. And there was no queue at midnight.

We currently have five in our friends and family guild on Krocylea, and Wyser is in his mega guild, along with Maladen.

Hey all, I've been playing a bunch of New World and I'm having a good time. If anyone is on the Krocylea server and has an available Syndicate guild opening I'd be grateful for an invite. I'm in the low 20s and doing a bunch of crafting. Probably too much gathering and crafting! I'm Tore Ostby and looking forward to seeing at least some of you!

Cheers!

I bought it today made a character on the lowest pop server available. No queue when I tried to join and all I get are "timed out while waiting for spawn point" messages lol

As a certain youtube MMO content creator says "This is one of those quit moments"

I had to delete the char and start on another low pop server

I’ve been playing with a small group on an east coast server and have managed to avoid queues so far this week due to the time difference but here today I’ve been waiting for half an hour and have somehow went from position 750 to 778, which doesn’t seem right.

EDIT: okay I’m just going to assume the counter is BS because it gradually went down to 636 then jumped back up to 647.

No queues past 2 days... lets hope for a 3rd

Picked it up last night and played until level 10. It seems like a good game to play while I watch football on my other monitor or while listening to podcasts. So far the basic mechanics seem solid and generally enjoyable. It does all seem a little sterile and generic though. I’m hoping more emerges to keep me interested. I want some charm, some intrigue, combat to get a little more complex. Even if it doesn’t and I get bored at 30-40 hrs in, that still a lot for a $40 game that I’m sure will get updates and improvements that could draw me back in.

I’m getting close to 30 and still digging it but there are definitely some rough edges that are starting to grate. The most pressing issue is that they really need to find some way of leveling out the faction populations. Syndicate is just massively dominating my server both in land claims and player numbers and it sounds like that’s pretty common across other servers as well.

I can say I enjoyed my play time this weekend with the game. I'm running spear and musket just because they are cool weapons. I got up to lvl 18. I don't like that I got capped early on faction points since the next faction level quest starts at lvl 24.

Also, someone in chat said that the pve faction don't help in regards to keeping areas. I don't like that because there should be ways to help your faction that are not pvp related.

Graphics and stability have been good on my low pop server. I did not have a problem with gathering and crafting - they fall along the lines of ESO for me.

I'll def get my 40 bucks worth out of it.

Go Purple!

Through the alpha and beta, purple had the fewest territories. Its all pretty arbitrary. Everyone would benefit the most if they'd just all join the winning side

My friends and I are having this very discussion. I feel like the bones (combat, QOL, crafting and graphics) of the game are great, and clearly the best (only?) from the the western MMO genre in a long time.

But, you definitely can tell that they added in the PVE side at the last minute, from the paper thin questing to the reused skins.

But the biggest issue is trying to navigate the PVE peanut butter to the PVP chocolate as it relates to the factions.

I have no idea if they can churn out PVE content at a fast enough clip to keep my PVE friends around, but if they do, then they really need to rethink things like companies for that crowd. There is already a lot of tension in my little group of less than 10 about why we even have to pick a faction.

Joining multiple companies might be an option, allowing for friends and family guilds for the chat and convenience function, while allowing those who want to engage in the large scale pvp to join a bigger company.

Or, conversely, just allow for PVE companies to have members from all factions but prevent those companies from participating in the war system.

I think within this first year they will have to do something because as it is, it feels like two separate games existing in the same world but in parallel.

Have yall done the first expedition yet? I only got to run it once in Alpha but it was a lot of fun. It felt less scripted, looser than typical MMO dungeons. With just the 3 of us we got pretty far (very curious if the difficulty scales with the player count), only wiping on the last big dude a few times. It was also intuitive. We went in with zero knowledge and were able to navigate our way through a few puzzles and some tough fights. We understand the last boss but he was just too tough for our gear and our talent choices. Next time I'm built for properly tanking instead of just being the guy who happens to have a shield.

As a generally solo mmo player, I've been having a good time. I was shooting for a tanky build, but I think I've put too much into Dex and not Const. Seeing as I'm partway through 19, it looks like tonight will be respec and test night. Send positive thoughts as I approach the main story quest dungeon and am required to team.

End of the day unless you're super competitive you're only missing out on a few QoL options if your faction has claims.

Plus as more people get leveled up you're likely to see some swings in who owns what. That's at least what's happening on our server.

3 of us and 2 pubbies ran it the other day. Wiped once on second boss due to not knowing the boss was pulled. Died 4-5 times on last boss once we kited adds and focused boss. Was fun but not sure if it scales for group size as I couldn't find a definitive answer.

I'm doing a lot of crafting. I like it. Most MMOs I hate it. Haven't focused/enjoyed on it since SWG (pre revamp).

They really need to tone down the aggressive auto-traversal. I was finishing up the “become a soulwarden” missions tonight and it took me five minutes to find the exact angle to interact with the alter from that didn’t cause my character to climb on top of or vault over the alter and cancel the interaction.

he REALLY must like this game... there's another page of this after this one!

Looks like server queues are gone/fixed. Still can't create new toons on heavy pop servers though.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something here with New World. I'm about 6 hours in. I've done quite a bit of gathering/crafting, got to level 10, and chosen my faction. I was waiting for the main story quests to start moving with more story and...nothing. I've got some options to pull job board quests that are random kill x,y,z. I've got faction quests, but I don't really care about PVP, I'm wanting to focus more on PVE. Am I missing something obvious that I've overlooked in story progression and narrative?
