What a beautifully done episode all around.
So good, so very good. I hope...
Maeve makes it. She's so great.
Anyone else kind of scratching their head over how quickly the ghost nation handed the man in black over to his daughter?
Pretty sure he wanted William the heck out of there. Lovely episode, other than Akecheta wandering about multiple levels of the complex looking for his love with no one attempting to stop him. I can forgive it. The pivot from Ake talking to the girl to talking to Maeve was great.
That Ford scene was superb as well.
Security theater. Nobody's really watching until something goes wrong. I can believe it.
Fantastic episode, probably best of season so far. Interestingly, my favourite episodes this season have all been focusing on somewhat self-contained stories - the James Delos episode, Shogun World, and now this.
A small aside, but it seems a bit silly that they only update firmware on a hosts death. Surely they'd have a way to push updates out remotely?

If one of your goals is total immersion I can see how pushing software updates to in use units might be a problem. We know they had physical assets that could do it in the first season, once guests were gone.

I got the impression he knew her (she speaks Lakota after all). And I expect he knows what she thinks of him.
The MiB thinks more of the Park than he did of her or her mother. I think she's going to punish him by making him watch it be destroyed.
Did anyone see anything that suggested why Dolores can remember being outside of Westworld before but Ake (presumably) cannot?

Weren't they doing remote updates in the first season? I don't remember for sure.
Damn, people dyin all over the place!
save you a little zooming...
Reaction:
Spoiler:I'm tired of the trope of women killing themselves over shitty men.
Yeah, it's disappointing that both William's wife and daughter only exist in the story in order to further drive the tragedy of his character. Though I guess we also got a man killing himself due to his abusive partner, so maybe that's progress?
Yeah I was really disappointed that they (probably) killed off Emily. She was definitely the character I've most been interested in this season.

Based off the original i thought the MiB was too on the nose to be a host. I was hoping they'd change it up and have Emily be the one. So much for that idea.
I guess it is still possible that Emily could be rebuilt as a host via the Forge.

I don't think he's a host. I think he's just a garden variety nutter. Someone posted this still from his profile:

... the .0072% (Rare) notation makes me think he's not exactly garden variety.

Huhuhuh they misspelled psychological.

Unwatchable. I'm done!
Okay, fair enough on the spoilers, you set the expectations in the OP.
You might want to put "spoilers" in the topic title, though.
My guess:
I think MiB is a host. His wife committed suicide because she found out. I keep going back the scene from the real world when Ford talking to him about his "story". That's not the only clue, but its the one that's stayed with me.
I don't think MiB had anything to do with his wife dying. Her own problems caused her death. I might have missed something but didn't see anything where he caused her death on accident or on purpose.

She committed suicide after looking at the card with MiB's profile on it, the one showing (at least) all the shit he did in Westworld. His daughter died with that same card, given to her by her mother by putting it in the music box she mentioned at the start of the episode, in her hand; it was that knowledge that convinced MiB she was a host when he shot her, before he saw the card.
Spolier text is getting overwhelming.
Another explanation is that MiB just thinks he is a host, but he is still human. I figure next week's episode is going to be long, but I wonder how much closure there will be.
I think that MiB is, at this point, hoping he's a host because it will then absolve him of the horrific things he's done. If he's a host, he can say he had no free will.
I hope he and Emily aren't hosts, because it will cheapen what the MiB has done.
Well, if the Forge is anything like the Cradle was, we might get to see him and his daughter both, along with every other guest, stuck in a virtual world. Remember, even Ford was stable outside of the hosts, so presumably all the guests are also stable but stuck in the servers.

That more or less echo's my thoughts. His whole story arc for the first season would lose a lot of meaning.
I've seen a lot of speculation on reddit that Charlotte is a host, or at least Charlotte in the two-weeks-ahead timeline. I can see that, maybe.
Not understanding all the Spoiler tags after reading the opening post (fair game after Sunday airing).
Charlotte = Charlie?
