Well, there's also con-tainment, and con-sensus, and con-sanguineous, con-tinuity, con-tiguous and many others that adopt the Spanish meaning. For me, it's "contra" that is the indicator of meaning, and that means "against" in English. :-)

Now you are just being contrary.

With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row!

I mean if anyone wanted to know what it looked like when you threw millions of dollars at the cognitive dissonance of wanting badly to lose something while desperately not wanting to be a loser I think we're seeing it.

From the land of WTF?

Donald Trump says he will dramatically ramp up donations in final stretch of campaign

Donald Trump told CNN Wednesday he is prepared to open up his wallet and donate considerably more to his campaign in the closing days of the race.

He claimed that by Election Day, he will have spent $100 million. Federal Election Commission records through September, however, show Trump has given far less to his campaign so far. The GOP nominee nevertheless paraded the fact that he remained competitive in the race despite being heavily outspent on advertising.

It isn't WTF because I don't think he could or should spend the money but because he is just thinking of doing it now? Hasn't most of the airtime for ads been sold? Haven't most of the venues been booked? Haven't most of the party favors (yard signs, hats, flags, etc... not sure what to call that crap) been bought? And how would he buy this stuff now and get it out to the battle ground areas in two weeks - with enough time for it to impact voters?

It is kind of easy now to see how he has had so many bankruptcies. He isn't actually a very good businessman.

As of September Trump's given $56 million to his campaign. $47 million of that was spent on the primary and $9ish million on the general election.

I really don't believe that he's going to go from spending about $3 million of his own money a month on his campaign to blowing $40+ million over the next 12 days.

He very likely said what he said because there's been reports that he's stopping fundraising events and more news has been trickling out about how poor Trump's fundraising efforts have been ($218 million to Hillary's $450 million) and his ego can't stand it.

But is it really spending, if you're putting it into your (or your childrens') pockets...?

His trend of (with campaign funds) - buying his own books as gifts, using his plane for transportation, using his hotels for conventions, etc... leaves me skeptical.

Biggest indication, for me, of the difference in campaign spending is a weird one, but one I think might be very important...

I watch a lot of videos on YouTube. Crash Course, Sexplanations, decent number of Hearthstone streamers with highlights and discussion videos, and general WoW news and boss stuff/class stuff.

Hillary's usually 30-45 seconds cannot be skipped.

Trump's 20-30 seconds ads are always skippable.

Clinton sponsored unskippable ads on YouTube videos? Well, now I can't in good conscience vote for her.

Meh. I like ads because I like free or cheap viewing, and I want the providers and producers to get paid for what they provide to me.

Generally speaking, they will get paid a LOT more if you are a YouTube Red subscriber. If you are curious, I think Hank Green has a video where he talks about it on one of his channels.

You people need to invest in Google Red/Google Music. I forget that Youtube is ad supported until I see posts like these.

YouTube is completely different experience for me since getting on the family plan. Makes it very tempting to start *gasp* paying for more of my media consumption.

Hehehe.

It's been interesting though, over the last two weeks, her videos have shifted almost entirely to her past political experience, especially big focus on children's issues.

Trump's is still largely, Hillary's going to destroy America.

There's one positive Trump ad since the last debate that has been airing in NC.

It's about 30% tax cuts for everyone, free college education, better jobs, etc.

Basically promising a free pony to everyone with no way to pay for it and no mention of the wall.

Complete contrast to the last 15 months of campaign. I hope people aren't dumb enough to believe it.

His versions of the Brexit healthcare promise, eh?

What if someone wants the pony AND the wall? Can they get that deal?

Absolutely, but since Mexico will be paying off the wall by way of ponies, you will need to go to the wall and catch said pony as it is tossed over from the other side.

Pony tossing is the new cat juggling.

Wait, I can get a free pony if I vote for Trump?

Hmm...

Yeah, but you have to give up the taco truck on every corner.

Wait, what? No deal, then. I like tacos.

Well played. I agree that both options this election are poisonous.

I also liked the following (paraphrased):

Newt - Polls show Trump is winning!!

Kelly - These non-partisan polls show that Hillary has a lot of momentum.

Newt - You can't trust polls!

Suddenly I'm questioning the source of the meat in those tacos.

Trump supporters like the idea of TrumpTV, but they don't want to pay for it.

BuzzFeed wrote:

Like many supporters showing up to four of Trump’s campaign stops in Florida this week — in St. Augustine, Tampa, Sanford, and Tallahassee — Don Griffin, a small businessman from Ridge Manor, is frustrated with mainstream coverage of his candidate.

In recent months, he’s stopped watching CNN and the major broadcast networks after feeling they were paying too much attention to Trump’s sexual assault allegations while not properly vetting Hillary Clinton. Left with only Fox News, Griffin welcomed a Trump media offering. “He’s got the money and connections to do it,” Griffin told BuzzFeed News. “Oh, man I’d watch it in a heartbeat, I sure would. And I’d love it.”

But if the enthusiasm was there, the desire to pay up was harder to come by. “No, I probably wouldn’t pay for it,” Griffin sighed, suggesting that if Trump didn’t launch a network he might consider “not watching news altogether.”

Kristen, a Trump supporter from Plant City, agreed that she’d watch, but that paying was a step too far. “It should be free,” she said. “The truth should be free and I shouldn’t have to pay just to get a non-biased opinion.” Of the 41 people BuzzFeed News spoke with over two days, eight indicated they’d pay for any kind of Trump offering.

They can make Mexico pay for it, maybe?

That's what advertisements are for.

Are there enough manufacturers selling gold and survival supplies to support TrumpTV?

Ninni Laaksonen, Miss Finland from 2006, said Trump groped her while shooting publicity stills right before going on Late Show with David Letterman: "Before the show we (Trump and the other contestants) were photographed outside the building. Trump stood right next to me and suddenly he squeezed my butt. He really grabbed my butt. I don’t think anybody saw it but I flinched and thought 'What is happening?'"
