On your marks...
Get set...

Mel and Sue in fine form last night. Also I'm shipping Candice and Selasi. There were looks.

The Chronicles of Nadia is brilliant. What an amazing woman.

Nadia is one of the contestants from last years Bake Off (I'll refrain from mentioning where anyone placed incase someone is watching older series.) She returns to visit her extended family in Bangladesh and then she's going to go on a tour of the country.

Yeah that was lovely.

I adore this show. I really dislike almost every other show of this format, but the way the contestants support each other (there is a vibe of them all being against the recipes instead of it being a competition, at least until the last 3-4, and even then they help each other out), and the way that Mel and Sue continually support the contestants (Jordan Cox, an entrant from last year says they work very hard keeping everyone's morale up on the day):

Pro-tip for non-UK dwelling folks, turns out that a lot of GBBO is on Youtube.

Does BBC America air this? I can do Youtube if it's got full seasons.

Even if it does, Youtube will have new content as it airs in the UK.

Full seasons are available, but they're all bootlegs, so quality varies, and they sometimes get taken down (usually to be replaced by someone else). You may need to do a bit of legwork to find the right ones.

I love GBBO so much, it's just so nice. Everything is wonderful and positive it's such a joy to watch.

I actually enjoy the Masterclass episodes they have after the competition more than the competition itself. Paul and Mary baking together is a lot of fun.

Selasi's my favourite from the first episode but I find the early episodes really are the weakest. With so many bakers you don't get to know them until week three or four.

Netlix only has a season or two. I needed to explore... other... options to watch every series.

I regret nothing.

Not sure if this helps, but Sling Blue has BBC America. Just sayin'.

Like Sherlock and Downton Abbey, it's on PBS but aired about a year later for some dumbass reason.

Hey, one season on Netflix is enough to see if my wife likes it. If she does, I can do youtube sleuthing for the rest.

If you support your local PBS station, you may have access to the three seasons they've shown in the US on their streaming player. You just need to sign in with your PBS ID -- I know I got one when I donated this year.

PBS GBBO

(Series 5, 4 and 6, I believe.)

I would seriously go lesbian for Sue Perkins.

You ought. She's a Croydon girl, from my old manor. Salt ov the erf!

So sad. My local PBS briefly showed one season of GBO, but it decided to randomly stop airing episodes like halfway through.

I have to confess, I love the characters and the competition, but part of the appeal is witnessing the disasters. Someone putting salt in the cake instead of sugar or a three tier creation very slowly leaning over and then collapsing.

For me the charm is that it encapsulates the things I love about the UK that aren't the things people would normally associate with it. I've seen the Swedish and American versions and they fall flat. The Britishness is such an essential part of what makes it work.

I can see that. It does to contain a lot of undiluted Britishness.

The Great British Sewing Bee might be worth tracking down and even The Great Pottery Throwdown. They have a similar feel.

The pottery one only has one season though. Not sure if it's getting a second.

I was gonna say I have no interest if Mel and Sue aren't in it but hey, it's Coxy!

Coxy and her glorious, glorious accent.

New seasons tend to be shown on TV here well after they have aired originally, so I only just finished watching the 2015 season. When I saw this thread had started, I knew I would have to look at other means of getting my GBBO fix.

So now, I'm in heaven because it's been non stop GBBO at home for weeks now. I am dreading the day when the season comes to a close though, as the withdrawal symptoms are going to be bad.

+1 for shipping Candice & Selasi.

I caught Season 3 (whatever Series that was) on the PBS streaming player. The most recent handful of episodes were available for free even if you're not a supporter.

Also Sue is apparently missing from tonight's episode.

Nooooooooooooo!

I hope they do extra oven staring to make up for it.

Judging from an earlier post she was too addicted to Hearthstone to film that day.

Family bereavement apparently. Poor Sue.

Candice stepped up to fill Sue's Chuck T's admirably with some quality double entendre though:

And who can forget Mel asking Rav if he needs 'a warm pair of hands on his body or his bag' followed, after a beat, by a quizzical look to camera.
