Tabletop Game Night Online

When: 5pm PDT/8pm EST
Where: Curse Voice - Table Top Catch-all
What: Tabletop Simulator, Tabletopia, boardgamearena.com, games.asobrain.com

If you can't make the start time, drop in to the catch all. That is where games will start from.

Everyone should create an account on http://games.asobrain.com . Takes 6+ days to activate.

I once posited this idea and it met with the tepid response of the usual "schedules are to hard to coordinate" problems. That being said I think it's a great initiative and we should use this thread to form groups that can potentially meet-up as they desire.

With that in mind, I'd like to offer to host/organize a meeting to play through the initial campaign setting of Kingdom Death: Monster (that 400$ monstrosity you'll probably never play otherwise). PM or post here if your at all interested and I'll throw out some potential dates/times.

For the Scythe campaign and others like it, do all parties need to own the mod? The game is on my wishlist for sure!

For TTS, only the host needs to own the mod/DLC.

Not sure how all this works but I'm interested.

I'd love to try sometime. I'm located in pacific timezone -- weekends are best for me, but I could do some evenings but rarely before 7pm pacific (which eliminates a lot of people, I know).

I think the best way to deal with this is to just pick a night and time (ex: Wed 5-9 PDT / 8-12 EDT) and have people jump on Curse when they can. If we get people trickling in, we can always start another game in another channel (Does TTS support drop in spectating?). It is best if we choose games that can be finished in the same sitting. (so 1-4 hour games). For those more epic games (my example is Mice and Mystics), those would be harder to organize since we would have to get the same people together every week.

I would love to! I haven't picked up TTS yet, but this will bump it up in priority!

I just picked this up to look at all of the wh40k/fantasy models. Saw cosmic encounter in the dlc though which I loved back in the day. It was the mayfair version but how much could it have changed? If tts can do fog of war it would be cool to do some pnp dnd on it.

I'd be interested as well, but my guess is I'd be too late for everyone. I can't get kids in bed and everything done for next day until 10pm pacific. I do own Scythe in Tabletop Simulator, though, and it is pretty fun!

So on that note, I'd be able to host Scythe if we ever timed it right, so other players (up to.. 5?) would only need to own TTS itself. Also, I think I know the ruleset fairly well now, so can help with learning. Now I just need a time dilation sphere so that I can exist 4 hours offset to the rest of the world and do it at a time everyone else is available!

We up tonight? What's a good time?

I probably can't tonight. But in general Wednesdays are good for me. I suggest we start at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT and as people join games can start. I can create channels for specific games in Curse if needed.

I'd be keen to join in, my time zone obviously makes things a bit tricky Friday and Saturday nights (US time) work best for me since I can be flexible.

We got a game of Scythe going on Tabletopia, Gaald was kind enough to host the game with his software license. bhchrist was able to get us all up to speed, the rest of us had never played it before, so props to him for his fantastic explanation of the mechanics.

I think the game took us about 3 hours to finish? Very good mix of grand strategy, worker placement, resource management, and economic engine development. It was very fun and I can definitely picture several more rounds of this game in the future.

I also got to say as a HUGE proponent of Tabletop Simulator, Tabletopia was a pretty fantastic experience (assuming you use a supported web browser). Host generates a link to a lobby, players join in (all in browser, no desktop application required), and it jumps straight to a cleaner, less busy TTS-esque camera and control scheme. I missed having VR support but everything else about the service made it a far better experience. I'll need to grab a subscription of my own soon.

A good first go at Tabletop night! Can't wait for next week!

This! I'm also pacific, and kids are usually in bed around 7pm so would be great to find a group for that time frame.

Thanks, mr noob for the kind words and thanks, Gaald for hosting. It was a good time. I would guess that at least 30-45 minutes of that time was spent going over rules, getting everyone in the game, and then accounting for going from 5 players to 4 players right at the start of the game. I would say it is a little fussy with the resource movement and takes longer in that regards than a live playing, then again there is not real set up to start and clean up to end. Probably 1.5 - 2 hours with a group that knows the rules.

IN.

So there's this website called doodle.com that allows multiple people to vote on days if we get divided.

I'm good for Wednesdays most days but 5 miiiight be pushing it for me. I'll have to try the next few times to see if I make it on time for 5 if I leave work when I'm supposed to.

Are people okay with me streaming this?

I am thinking that we can use the catch-all voice channel in curse as a "looking for game" type channel. So people that can't show up at 5pm PDT, can show up at 7pm and still get a game going. Kind of like how we do Overwatch games.

I like the sound of this. 5pm is unlikely for me, but on days I finish work early-ish I can possibly make a 7pm 'sit down'.
Do I need to own Tabletopia or are most of us just leeching of someone else's full account?

I created an event and a group in RUIn (a game scheduling site made by a goodjer). RUIn is still very buggy but has promise. If you create an account you can join the group called "GWJ Table Top" and see any events that other goodjers have posted. This will help get planned games going.

Ive been playing some Scythe at lunch and would love to try and get some games in on Tabletop Simulator. I own the DLC so I could host.

My steam ID is in the little black icon on the bottom right of this post, just friend me up and say SCYTHE!

Anyone up for a game in the next few hours? Starting around 5pm-9pm PDT?
I don't have Tabletopia or TTS, but would like to try them out and play some online board games with GWJers if anyone is keen. Preferably something 4 player or so...

Posting this in Curse as well.

I bought the Zombicide DLC for Tabletop Simulator today. We were going to play it for the weekly board game night but we had someone show up who didn't have Tabletop Simulator. So next Wednesday we will play it. It plays up to 6 players. All you need to play is the Tabletop Simulator itself.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I heard Amanda talk about this on the podcast and wanted to search it out.
Besides downloading Curse, how might someone get in on this? (I also have no idea what the Curse group/server is--please excuse my ineptitude)

Once you have curse, you just have to join the Tabletop Voice channel. Once you have curse installed, message me your handle and I can add you to the GWJ group.

My handle on Curse is WinnieDasPoobah (excuse the silly name, but it's keeping up with a gamer tag I've had for over a decade). I couldn't figure out how to DM you, so I guess I'll leave it here

Can someone please invite me into AsoBrain?

The invite system is really weird with Asobrain. You can register and wait to be accepted (took me 5 days). If someone has "credits" available they can spend them to speed up your wait time. Gaald was able to shave a day or something off of my wait time. Unfortunately I have 0 credits. But if you register now, you should have it in a week.

kazar, I think Amoebic joined an older room you posted on RUIn. Can you create a new one for tomorrow?

Anyone interested in starting up a board game night again? I played Pandemic with a few gwjers a few days ago and it made me realize I have an itch to scratch.

Always interest in tabletop games, but I think 5pm pdt is about midnight for me, sadly

The time in the original post was from a few years back when we did it. We can talk about other times. Personally I was thinking about something like Saturday morning PDT but am open to other options.
