Duuudes, you can turn yourself into a coffee cup!!!

So this is Geist 2?

Curiously I am getting BioShock in Spaaaaaace vibes.

Looks alright. I'm a sucker for first person games.

Yup, it's the UI that gave me the same vibe.

There's also "plasmids" it seems.

I had been looking forward to the bounty hunter space station based Prey. I have no love for the original which, outside of the gravity manipulation, was a mediocre experience. This direction, though, I'm not sold on even if every shooter Bethesda has published starting with Dishonored has been stellar.

It's Bioshock, Deadspace and Dishonored mixed with the Matrix/Groundhog Day.

From the looks of that outfit, they drew some inspiration from the original Dead Space. Not the helmet of course.

Bioshock in space is just System Shock, and yes, I'm getting a big System Shock vibe off of this (which is why I pre-ordered it).

I turned into a coffee cup once, it did not end well for the other parties.

Prey is going to have a demo on PS4 and Xbox One available on April 27th. Sign me up.

Thanks for the heads up!

What about us excited PC gamers?

Hope they offer PC demo like they did with Dishonored 2....but you know not 4 months later.

To be fair, console didn't get a Dishonored 2 demo until four months later, either.

You get 33% off at release through GreenManGaming. What else do you want?!

Playing the demo. I like the feel of the game and the opening.

Spoilers for a gun:

Spoiler:

Using the Goo gun feels like I'm, at best, delaying a fight rather than actually stopping anything permanently.

Totally Bioshock in space. (Maybe that's System Shock).

Anyway, first impressions are that it's the best Bioshock-type game since the original Bioshock. The environment seems very well realized and cohesive.

Spoiler:

As I got further in, I found data suggesting that all the corpses had their own names, jobs, histories and reasons for being where they were.

The demo has completely sold me on the game, I agree with the Bioshock comparison, I'd also throw in Half Life 2 & Deus Ex. The environments have so much items, materials, magazines & stuff that can be lifted.

With the mimics disguised as your everyday furniture it can be quite jumpy when an office chair turns into the creepy crawly style creature & jumping after you ala the headcrabs from Half Life.

The skill trees seem really good at first glance, the hacking computers, the strength ability so that you can lift tables & other big stuff scattered around the environment. I like that the crouching & climbing is taken straight from Dishonored 2, the ability to go & hide under low office tables that are lower than your crouch.

The story is really interesting, voice acting strong, there's a lot of mystery as to why your getting put through these tests & what the motive & ultimate goal is of this company.

Yup, based on that demo, in like Flynn. Prob gonna pick it up on PC. I found it tough to play Bioshock with M+K on PC, and ended up using a controller. This one feels very similar, but hopefully with a little practice "aim" will increase. Gloo everywhere!

Spoiler:

And +1 on the jumpy. When the first actual surprise one hit, my butt about sprang off the couch onto the floor.

No idea what one has to do with the other but target is giving away Passengers movie with Prey. Odd correlation.

It seems this game is really flying under the radar coming upto launch, I really hope it reviews well & sales are good. This is the team that made the first Dishonored, which was a masterpiece imo.

I'm finishing up exploring the demo areas & have found a couple of new weapons as well as more neuromods for skill upgrades.

I've finished the demo and I really got into it. At first the little spider things were annoying me because I kept loosing track of the little buggers and dying in a whirl of red hit indicators and floor. Having played some more I acclimatised. I played on quite a bit after the demo part ended. Very, very promising game.

The only thing I cannot do is the hacking. I've tried a lot, I've even cheated and made a save at the point I'm about to hack, and I haven't succeeded once. The time limit is brutal. I hope there is a mod to make the hacking easier because, if not, I won't be hacking anything for the entire game.

More than Bioshock in space, this felt like Dishonored in space, which isn't surprising. I like the setting, I like the premise, but playing this on PS4 was just... unpleasant.

Bethesda isn't sending out review copies, which is par for the course for them atm. Drives the buzz down.

Some of the press coverage I've seen on Prey has walked the line of passive-aggressive whining about Bethesda not sending out review copies. I don't get the impression that this will impact review scores at this point, but it certainly seems to have tamped down coverage and interest.

I worked my way through the demo last night, and while I'm not entirely sold (definitely waiting on reviews), it does have some really fun elements and I'm interested in the story. It feels a ton like the first Bioshock in a really good way.

My biggest issue is the sound design feels a bit weird. The music (which I honestly thing is really fantastic) is super loud in some situations. Maybe it's my setup, but it was particularly jarring the first few times a piece of music was played.

double post, oops.

Eurogamer noted that there is some major input lag on the PS4 version. Bethesda commented that they were working on a fix for the final release.

That explains a lot. It wasn't terrible for me, but I did find myself longing keyboard/mouse controls early on.

I was absolutely blown away by the start of that demo. Amazing stuff!

And then a series of little troubles crept in as I went on. I too had trouble getting my aim to square with my movement and it seemed impossible to take out an enemy without also taking a hit myself. The overall sense of "play it your way" is in there but without any real direction as to when it's better to run 'n gun and when to creep all stealthy. Dishonored made that pretty clear by having some very talkative guards but the mimics being silent and invisible means I only felt safe crawling on my stomach through every single room. And the music is just killing me. I enjoyed the pumping electronica the first time a monster leaped at me and I had to gun it down but then it kept playing for a half-minute after I killed it. Was there another one around the corner? Was it not really dead? Is the audio glitching out? Then that same thing happened again and again. Blasting electronica with no enemies in sight to go ham on.

I dunno. I got a lot of RPGs to get through and it looks like Prey wouldn't be the fun little side excursion I was hoping for.
