so this is quite the land yacht:

So there seems to be some confusion about this weeks Forzathon. The achievement to unlock the Lola T70 has two different descriptions; at first it was "Complete an online adventure...", but some people (including me) are now seeing an in game description of "Win an online championship...".

Win an online championship in a classic racer seems very difficult compared to previous Forzathons, but if that is indeed the case is anyone up for creating some private online championships and taking turns winning?

I would be more than happy to help anyone with any Forzathon any time. Only thing is, my hours are weird... this week, it is 7 pm to 11 am ish. I'm playing Horizon off and on all night, depending on the demands of my furry master.

At any rate, please friend up badkenbad on live and if there's a group I should join, let me know. I searched for gwj, then gamers, then jobs, and found nothing.

I'll do that, and I'll see if I can send you an invite to the GWJ club too.

Feel free to invite me too, I believe I'm fastmav347 on there

I have never played a Forza game... in fact, I have never played a dedicated racing game since, like, Pole Position or something.

But I really liked Final Fantasy XV.

This would be a silly purchase, right?

I don't know what to tell you since I am a racing game nut. If you are not into racing games Forza Horizon is much more likely to appeal to you than Forza Motorsports, and there are things other than just racing to do (stunts, drifting, just cruise around, etc.) that said, it is a car game. Also be aware that (presently) the only ways to get the Final Fantasy car are 1) have played FH3 before the first of this month in which case it was gifted to you in game or 2) have a code that was sent to you because you played the correct FF game on XBox prior to the same date (presumably the codes are transferable, but I really don't know).3) buy one for lots and lots of credits in the in game auction house (if you can find one).

That's a really useful response, thanks!

Invites have been sent to both of you

Hey there Forza-ites. Since I finally got that club invite, I've been adding everyone to my Live friends list. I don't have many Xbox Live goodjer friends because I haven't had an Xbox for about ten years. Now that MS is integrating all that stuff with Windows 10, maybe we can get some cross-play going.

Dunno if I'm up for Forza 7 though - after the open road games, I have a hard time racing around in circles again (even if they are not strictly circular).

Anyway, if you and everyone you know on Xbox Live got friended up by badkenbad today, that's why.

I have learned that putting super-powerful engines in some of these older cars makes them no goddamn fun to drive. There are all these tunes that put V-12 engines in everything, and the rest of the hardware in the car isn't designed to handle that kind of power, so it's pretty much uncontrollable. Using a stock or sport engine results in a lower grade car maybe, but they are a LOT more fun to drive.

So... after a little over a week of playing pretty much non-stop, I am at this moment level 176 (and that will go up again shortly). I have over 100 cars including Horizon Editions with all the different bonuses. My current go-to car is a class S2 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 Horizon Edition, which doubles most XP rewards. I keep a stock V8 in it most of the time because it handles better, I love the sound, and all the events scale to the level of your car anyway. For quite a while I was running the '69 Ford Mustang Boss 302 with a souped-up V8, and that was ridiculously fun. Its handling is somewhat boat-like, but the floatiness gives it character. And the sound of that engine... dayum. For speed events and PR stunts, I use a class X Ford GT Horizon Edition.

I can see the appeal of restricting yourself to lower-class races. A lot of the online stuff I jumped into was just people with the same two or three X 999 cars basically drag racing each other. Boooriiiing.

I have finished all the exhibition events, but the *ahem* Horizon *ahem* is still nowhere in sight. I have dozens of exhibitions yet to do, all my sites aren't fully upgraded yet, and I have hardly done any championship or bucket list things. I do have almost all the roads explored and XP boards smashed.

Picked this up on Christmas Eve to play with my wife. I just unlocked clubs and wondered if I could get an invite to the GWJ club? Thank you.

Seeing as there isnt a Forza Horizon 4 thread yet, Ill just mention that the demo is out and gosh its pretty (and its in England! with sheep!!!).

Plays very smooth, but so far is pretty much FH3 in a different location (which isn't a bad thing)

Yup, and as much as i hated myself for pre-ordering the full $139.99 edition of FH3 because of all the problems I had downloading it last time..... I'm going to do it again with FH4.

Figure i'll just give it a few days to download and hopefully it works eventually. I put so many hours into FH3 once it worked so I just can't say no to this one.

So I just bought Forza Horizon 3 for my new machine, which will be ready next week.

Why 3?

Because it’s cheaper than 4 (yes I know it’s on that pass thing but I’d rather own my own copy) and I’ve never owned a Forizon game before so I figured I’d start with the first one available for PC, then get 4 later.

I am super excited regardless.

Have fun, it's an amazing game!

Agreed, FH3 is wonderful. It was my introduction to the Forza games. After playing Horizon, the Motorsport 7 demo just couldn't hold a candle to driving all over the map. And while FH4 has some graphical improvements, FH3 still looks amazing. After all, it's only two years old.

Yay, can't wait!

I'll also say that both expansions are totally worth the price of admission. The Hot Wheels moreso than the Blizzard Mountain, but both are fun additions.

Dangit, why did you have to tell me that?!

Full enabler mode activated.

...as he buys the expansion pass...

Personally I just buy the ultimate edition. I did it for both Horizon 3 and Horizon 4. No regrets.

Actually one thing I really enjoyed in 3 more than 4 is the mass open stretches. There was a lot of variety too. Coastline, outback, forests etc. It felt like you could build up considerably more speed in 3 than you can with 4.

So I love this game, and it runs SO WELL on the new rig.

I raced a freight train today, you guys.

And it was amazing.

So far I've opened the beach, the city and the outback. Will likely open the valley next once the opportunity to comes up.

So. Happy. With this game.
