Humble Monthly Gamble Discussion Thread

Glad I skipped Offworld on a last sale. The rest look pretty interesting. Can someone sell me on if I should keep Pillars of eternity? I have no idea if it is my jam or not. Never played an isometric fantasy game. Played plenty of other 3rd or first person fantasy style.

Well, now I'm extra annoyed I forgot to cancel this month. Everything I would be interested in, I already own.

Man, Quiet City is a Stephen (Stephen's Sausage Roll) Lavelle joint.

Sorry I missed that one, LOL.

Glad I didn't skip this month after all, despite already having Pillars (which is an awesome game), and that other game being a sports game

Somewhat interested in both Offworld Trading Company and War for the Overworld.

It is a game that is very much trying to recreate past glory of its genre, so people who dont like those games probably wont find much to like here.
Personally one of my favorite games ever.
Try it?

That...depends. It's ok. It's certainly more naturally accessible than, say, the Baldurs Gate games are these days (unless you already have an indepth knowledge of 2nd Edition AD&D)* and obviously a lot prettier...but the story is a good deal more generic and bland to the point where I've struggled to get very far into it.

Actually that's not quite right on thinking about it. The world and story they set up is actually relatively unique, it's maybe just their writing that I think is generic and bland. There's definitely something about it that totally fails to hold my interest very long.

Plus I don't think I've ever fully trusted it since they initially put a backers rather transphobic poem into one of the gravestone dedications...and then when they removed it, they replaced it with an incredibly passive-agressive swipe against "PC culture" from the same backer instead....so that's always kinda soured it for me.

I will go back and try it again at some point though, I'm determined to get to the end of it for at least one playthrough.

FWIW, My recommendation though would be to try the Shadowrun games as a starting point if you haven't already, as they are pretty much universally fantastic. Or the re-released HD version of Planescape Torment if you're feeling brave

* which OBVIOUSLY everyone does since it was clearly the best version of D&D ever made so I don't really know why I brought it up.

What an amazing bundle. I already owned Offworld Trading Company (which is AMAZE if you've not all played it) and a couple of others, but it was worth it for Overcooked, which I've wanted foreeeever.

Played lots of D&D video games, and I still have so little clue about the inner workings of D&D.
Another thing I like about Pillars. Felt like its combat mechanics weren't shoehorned into a video game system.

I love Baldurs Gate, Planescape Torment etc. for their worlds, exploration, stories and all that. Never really liked their combat. Pillars might be the first isometric CRPG where I really got into combat mechanics.

Of course, everyone should give Planescape Torment a try too. They are pretty much in opposite ends of the CRPG spectrum though.

Second, already own Pillars, Offworld, Overworld, and Overcooked. I've never even heard of most of the other games.

I don't know why I keep paying for this, month to month I get like one game I don't already own that I might try but wasn't desperate to. But nothing that is worth the full price. I just end up with so many extra games to give away to people...

It would be such a good value if I didn't buy any other games.... but alas I do, and usually just before they end up here. Bought KF2 during the Steam sale....

Yep. They're getting near three strikes territory with me.

Three strikes. I'm out.

I don't remember, can we take the keys from the monthly bundles and give one game to someone else?

I own nearly everything in this bundle. :feelsbadman:

Yes, you can send each as a gift individually from the same page where you unlock the steam keys.

Oh, crap, yeah that's a Stardock game isn't it? Blech.

I felt that way about past bundles that lots of other folks hated. For me, this was the first month that I had seriously thought about skipping and I kind of wish I had. I either owned or was not interested in the announced games and I owned several of the unannounced games. I ended up gifting almost all of it to my kids' Steam account.

Next month isn't looking great either. I tried the Killing Floor 2 beta/demo a while back and I really didn't like the aesthetics and the gameplay seemed way too difficult.

Annnd purchased.

This month's bundle was worth it for me for Pillars of Eternity. The only other game in the bundle that I think I'd like is Offworld, but I already had that.

I did pass on Killing Floor 2 for next month. Taking a pause until October.

I wish I hadn't forgotten to pause/cancel my sub this month. I already owned Pillars and have no interest in basketball, so I already gave both away. Offworld Trading looks OK, I played it a little tonight and it seemed decent. Burning Blood and Nongunz both look way too twitchy for my tastes. War of the Overworld might be a good fit for me right now, I've been getting into build/management type games. So this bundle looks like I spent $13 on $30 worth of games that I might enjoy... not a good haul for me, considering money is tight.

I paused for next month. Killing Floor 2... no. I can occasionally play shooters, but I doubt it's worth it. I'll just try to mooch any good games on the key thread instead.

wuppo key free to a good home.

same goes for nongunz

I'm very happy with this months bundle. I was thiiiiiis close to buying Overcooked on Switch, so yay! Offworld Trading Company is very nice too. I actually bought it for $10 and returned it because it's very CPU demanding and I couldn't get my FPS to stay above 30, but for a few bucks I'll totally deal with it. Cool game!

The rest all look interesting enough for an hour or two excursion, so no complaints from me.

Killing Floor 2 doesn't appeal to me, but the mystery games have yet to disappoint so I'm in for the ride. Already got the game on PS4 due to PS+ so I may gift it away if no PC buddies want to play with me.

Killing Floor 2 is a very fun game with some great mechanics.

Yeah if this was like the main bundles where you can decide where the money goes maybe but after my subscription expires next month I'm out. Though it may already be expired I need to check

So...

Killing Floor 2
Banner Saga 2
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
Worms W.M.D
Stories Untold
HackyZack
Eterium
Volantia: Kingdom in the Sky

Interesting Mix enough, Momodora is a fairly hard metroidmania, don't know too much about the rest but Stories Untold could be interesting.

Next Month: Rise of the Tomb Raider *instant gets the bundle*

Really great bundle for me, as the only game I own is Eterium. Looking especially forward to Volantia.

Stories Untold is REALLY good.

Rough edges here and there, but wholly unique and worthwhile.

Only own Momodora already. Stories Untold seems interesting, and might even play some Banner Saga 2, though I didnt like the first much. Or some Worms for nostalgia.
Decent bundle.

Stories Untold is a really, really good few hours of game. Everyone who got the monthly should give it a shot. It's kind of a text adventure enhanced, but not really? It's mostly not text. It's really good, but the less you know going in, the better.

I'd absolutely be in on next month's except I already finished Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is also a steal at $12.

Not much I'm super interested in this month (minus the stuff I already have - stories untold and Banner Saga 2) but, I guess that means it's stuff I'd never have otherwise justified buying on their own, so...that's a plus!

Momodora for one has been in and out of my shopping cart a ridiculous number of times over several steam sales but I've never been able to commit to the purchase, and now I don't have to!

I paused and then cancelled my sub for the last two months. I saw the email pop up for RotTR $12 and thought that it was a good deal on its own. Then I read more carefully.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post! I'm a little lukewarm on this bundle, but I'm thrilled to see Stories Untold included. I really enjoyed playing it, so hopefully more people get to experience it now!

Momodora is really the only game I'm excited to play. It's been in my basket a few times too! The space fighter game looks pretty cute, but for $5 it feels like a throw-in.

And who knows? I might be able to get a bit of nostalgia out of Worms WMD. Reviews seem to indicate it's not the best, but that's fine by me. It's one of those games I wouldn't usually buy, but am happy to get in a bundle.

I couldn't resist 12 for tomb raider. I will probably cancel after this month because my backlog is huge but I will love this month

Darn it. I bailed on the bundle this month but wished I stayed in for Banner Saga 2 and others.

Even though I have Rise of the Tomb Raider on XBox One, I think I'll stay in this month because the add-ons are usually something I'd pick up for that price anyway.
