Humble Monthly Gamble Discussion Thread

Yeah, was supposed to say DS2.
It is yours if you want it

Sure, I'll take it.

Guess I should drop Monthly Humble, seems like I always own the games I am interested in. Might try out Armello.
Wonder if it is remotely possible to find someone who want to play DS2, who doesn't have it.

I just pause it every month until they have something I want.

Fine, I fixed my post for you guys.

Not so! I'd been eyeing it at $12 for a while, but kept passing because I was part way through DS1 and 3. I put in for this month because $12 for DS2 plus some other stuff was a good deal for me.

I'm happy with Hyper Light Drifter and the Sherlock Holmes game. Simple Planes looks potentially interesting. I may noodle with Armello, but probably won't play much of. Same with GalCiv3. The rest I have no idea about.

Tell me why I should care about 2000:1?

The trailer makes it seem interesting.... the description on youtube sounds, intriguing.

2000:1: A Space Felony is a murder mystery courtroom drama set aboard the USS Endowment, an interplanetary Spacecraft that lost communication with Earth.
Utilizing your camera and demonstrating your keen detective skills, you must document your findings, and piece together the crew's final hours from the aftermath. This photographic evidence is then applied in a cross-examination the crime's prime suspect; MAL, the ship's on-board AI system.
If MAL is found to be guilty, it is your responsibility to deactivate him.

And the full title....

2000:1 A Space Felony or: How I came to value my life and MURDER mercilessly

That makes it at least worth a little spin. I will have to try it tonight.

Do you cancel and re-subscribe or is there an actual "pause" option?

I want to play it and didn't own it yet. Maybe there are more people interested in the series than the fanatics on GWJ?

My faith in humanity has been shattered. Again.

There's an actual pause button. It's an option you have when you click on cancel. It only lasts for that month though so you have to remember to check every month to see if there's something you want. If not, pause it again.

Ok, fixed it for you. You want my copy?

Edit: Just noticed that you typed "didn't own it yet" so I'm guessing you subscribe to the bundle and just got a copy.

Awesome, thanks!

But cant you only see the "main" game in the package, before it is too late to cancel/pause?

It's just a little quick indie thing (with a game-jam kind of feel to it), that takes about an hour to get through, tops. It's entertaining, and I look forward to seeing the dev's maybe expand on the idea a bit in the future, but probably don't get your hopes up that it's going to be some intricate investigation game.

Man second time in a row they've stuffed a stardock game in here and I'm not thrilled with it.

Yes, but the rest of the package is just a bonus in my eyes. If the main game is worth $12 to me I pay for the month. If not I pause. I'm not into gambling.

So far I've probably been more interested in the secondary games.

Next month is NBA17 and Pillars of Eternity.
I might have to pause it, just to show my displeasure with a sports game in there But everyone else should jump in for Pillars of Eternity. No exceptions.

Yep. They're getting near three strikes territory with me.

Nice Gamble for me! I was in it for DS2, had Armello and HLD on my wishlist. Looks like the rest are worth checking out too!

I'm in next month too. Was thinking of buying Pillars in the summer sale so bonus!

I'm in the same boat; At $18, Pillars did not make it onto my list of Steam Summer Sale purchases, but is (was) on the wishlist.

I was also eyeing DS2 for a while. For the first time ever, I'm actually looking forward to 2 Monthly bundles in a row!

I'm pretty happy with this month's deal! I've been looking at Armello for a while, I have a soft-spot for planes, and Hyper Light Drifter looks neat.

Next months might be a pass for me. I don't have the time for Pillars (though it is excellent), and NBA doesn't appeal to me at all. Still...Don't want to miss the extras. Hm.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, haven't these all been reasonably well-received games? Is it a problem with Stardock itself or...?

Yes, with Stardock. Specifically, the company head, Brad Wardell. This isn't necessarily the place to dig into why, though; the moderators would likely prefer it go in the political forum.

I bailed this month - not a Dark Souls type of guy - but the only thing I missed out on was Armello. Sherlock would have been good, but nothing else jumped out to me as really wanting.

Man and I just finally bought Pillars on the Steam sale for $18.

Will dig into in my own time then. I had no clue. Thanks for the info.

I can't recall which thread, maybe the deals thread a month or so ago had three star dock games and had loads of article links. Was hashed out there pretty well.

Good call, Clock.

How does one actually install a Humble Trove game? Downloaded Strike Suite zero and cannot figure out where the exe or anything is

I'm amazed they don't include installers.... I have never tried to download one before this, but I downloaded SSZ to see... they're just zip files and you each one apparently has it's own structure (just like the installed version of the game would have).

Anyway, for Strike Suit run a file called SSZ.exe and it's at:

\PC\Main\Binary\SSZ.exe

Thanks I hunted through it for a while, I should have thought it through and searched for a file with extension .exe. DOH!

New bundle's up.

Apart from Pillars, I didn't own any of these already, and there are a couple I've been wanting to try out ("Overworld" especially) so...great!

Pillars of Eternity
NBA 2K17
ONE PIECE BURNING BLOOD
Offworld Trading Company
War for the Overworld
Overcooked
Wuppo
Nongünz

and the humble original is "Quiet City"

Dang, I knew I should not have bought Wuppo during the steam summer sale:

One Piece Burning Blood, I haven't had a chance to play the previous one yet X_X

Wuoop - is a weird metroidmania, need to play it more, is sure plenty will like it

Heard good things about Overcooked multiplayer

Pillars of Eternity - a rpg, will have to take a look

Nongünz - looks very Downwell

Quiet City looks interesting

Don't have anything to say with the rest, but a solid bundle otherwise.
